ROME Ok let me start my Rome entry again, because at the farm we stayed at in Rome the internet was timed and i lost all my work :-( Italy was hot, humid and really dirty. I didnt rate the food, especially disapointed with the pizza, because they only put like 4 toppings on (ham, cheese, mushrooms and tomato) boring!!! We got an Imperial tour guide which took us to the colosseum, thru the ruins of rome, along to the pantheon (a church) and to the Trivie Fountain. The colosseum was different to how i thought it would be. It was falling down and dirty (like the rest of Italy), i pictured the colosseum out of the movie Gladiator! The ruins were interesting, because the peasants went on a riot back when they didnt like the emporer ... read more

Last time I updated I was in Athens, I believe! We ended up having a great time with family friends that evening. It was so neat to meet my Yiayia's friend. The next morning we woke up and went shopping. Later we went to Syntagma Square and got to see the changing of the guards. Afterwards, we ate and shopped at Plaka. Family friend time again, we met up for ice cream. THis place had a nice night view of the Acropolis. :) The next day we woke up and left for Zakythos at 11. A taxi, bus, boat, bus, and another bus ride later, we were at our hotel at 9 pm just in time for dinner and ... bed! :) Zakythos is ridiculously gorgeous ....but EXTREMELY hot. Today it was the hottest it's been ... read more

Our trip to Corfu got off to a very disappointing start! We disembarked from our overnight ferry at 5am, alot of us only having had 2 hours sleep or less. We all would have looked a sorry sight waiting for our fill-in bus driver (Dave on 3 days break) who was a no show. We waited for what seemed like ages - we learnt on Corfu there is a thing called 'Ish time', you never really know what time you are going to get your service! In the end, our tour manager had to organise a whole heap of taxis to get us up to our hotel. The disorganisation didn't end there though - we were told on arrival at the hotel that check-in would not be until 2pm. Picture 50 bodies slumped over every chair ... read more

Leaving Italy was suprisingly heartbreaking. Contrary to the pesimistic guidebooks which warn of thivery and sexual harrassment by Italian males I found Italy to be a friendly place full of fantastic people who will help you without you even asking. Plus its just gorgeous there so leaving to unknown Greece where I dont even know a word of the language made me quite sad. We got on the ferry at 5 to depart Italy. It was an overnight ferry because it doesnt make it to Corfu until 9 in the morning. Since we are on a budget we didnt book a cabin and opted for the 20 euro choice on sleeping on the deck. Worst choice ever. First of all since we were lower class passengers we were kicked out of the upper scale coffee bar ... read more

What can I say, I had such a good time last time when Pete suggested we go back how could I refuse? London hasnt been very generous in providing good weather so it was a good opportunity to escape for some sun. Me and Pete had a ridiculously early Friday morning flight but maximised our party time by having breakfast champagne. Immediately upon arrival we started our general daily ritual; Sunning on the Beach, followed by a Nap, followed by Dinner, followed by drinking, then dancing late into the night. Repeat. On our first day at the beach we met a crew of good value canadian boys to hang out with, Stuart, James, Chris and Ralphy. It was Ralphys birthday on the Sunday when we went on the booze cruise and that boy knows how ... read more

On Saturday we spent the day in Corfu, Greece. We woke up early and walked into the small town. It was nice. I loved the shops. We bought ourselves a dancing jackass. Biago and Noah, you are going to LOVE it! In Corfu, we toured a castle. It was dark, damp and very high. We walked up scary steps but it was worth it because the view was beautiful. Dad got a lot of great pictures. Brittany loved the castle. After a few hours in Corfu, we headed back to the ship. Brittany, Dad, and I went swimming. We had fun. Once again we played BINGO. We didn't win. :( We will try again today. We ate at Mama's Italian Kitchen for dinner and then went to the Weakest Link Game Show. Mom was picked to ... read more

We got up bright and early this morning at 6:45 am as we wanted to have a proper breakfast in the dining room. Up until today, we have eaten our breakfast in the Garden Café, which is the self-service buffet. They do offer some very nice selections of food and plenty of it, but it is incredibly noisy. The noise level can really be distracting from enjoying your food. We chose to eat in the Tsar’s Palace dining room and enjoyed a lovely breakfast of grapefruit juice, smoked salmon eggs benedict, along with some fresh tropical fruit and some hash browns, topped off with a cappucino. Yummy! The day was absolutely astoundingly beautiful. The temperature was listed as 64 degrees F, but in actuality it was more like 84. Perhaps their thermometer was off. We were ... read more

-more like it destroyed us. Now where was I? The four of us parted ways as Steve, Sas and I planned our Greek Island adventures, with Steve heading towards the Cyclades in the Aegean and Sas and myself heading for Corfu in the Pleiades which was on the way to Italy. Our decision saved me from a night camping on the beach near the port in Athens, but as far as I know, Steve still did it on his own. We packed up, ate a tasty spaghetti dinner which Seb cooked up, picked up our giant backpacks and headed towards the Athens metro - without any Greek translators this time. We had to make our way to the Hostel Aphrodite to meet the Pink Palace Express bus which would bring us across the country and directly ... read more

How many of you have ever taken the B.C. ferries over to Vancouver island? imagine that but a bit bigger with a pool, casino, sevral bars, a night club and a hotel, and thats what the ferry that runs from Venice to the Corfu, a little island off the coast of Greece. You might be thinking "wow that sounds awesome" and its not to bad for the first 4 hours, but 22 hours of being on a boat where everything is to expensive to enjoy gets old really fast, I now understand that song form pulp fiction, "playing solitaire till down with a deck of fifty one" because thats what i did, i had to use the a joker as the five of diamonds. And if your wondering why i had to stay up so ... read more
