It has been rumoured that there were no beds on the Andriatic ferry, but it wasn’t true, the ferry was excellent. Our rooms were clean and neat. We had dinner in the Al a carte restaurant, I had prawns and linguini and it was to die for!! We spent the next 19hrs on the ferry. Everything was on there, poker machines, deadly expensive internet, bars, discos, cafes etc. I decided to all it a night fairly early though. The next morning before getting off the ferry I watched the dolphins swimming beside the ship, it was really nice. Art can barely contain herself with her excitement of going back to ‘The Mother Land’. I plan on staying close to her as she can speak Greek with everyone! Very hand! Finally off the ferry and back to ... read more

We left early again today with a swim stop at Egine and then continued our way to Athens. The weather was good and our last trip was free of sea sickness which was good for those who had been affected by it before. Before long we were moored in Athens and it was time to make it back to the hotel. Exhausted and in need of a real shower and a place that doesn´t rock we were happy to get to the hotel. After a kip and a freshen up we headed out for one last meal with everyone from the boat. We went to a lovely restaurant way up high that had a great view of the Acropolis, any-one would think we were millionaires not backpackers! Eventually we said our good-byes after what had been ... read more

We got up at a resonable hour to hire some mopeds and cruise around the island. We headed straight up untill we reached some ancient ruins and a monestry and we could look out over the ocean. We headed back down the hill and fill the moped up with fuel (3 euros, what a cheap mode of transport). We stopped for some lunch, then drove to a beach for a swim. We went back to the boat for a bit and latter on Matt and I went for another cruise on the moped. With the wind in our hair, the views and the experience was the best. We stumbled across many beaches and at one stage had to take a detour on the opposite side of the island where the coast line was spectacular. On the ... read more

I left Santorini yesterday. It was nice to finally leave the island, though it has been great, but I started feeling that I did nothing with these precious days of holiday, -except trying to get a little more brown, which is and always has been impossible for me! There were people it was sad to say goodbye to, but that's life and that's travelling. You meet so many people and some of them you are destined to like. All you can do afterwards is to hope that you might have a free week to visit them one day. Being on Santorini I've had quit some bad news and further. Except from the daily Pina Colada and other party-island traditions, I've had several talks with my mother and czech-airlines whom I really don't understand. I had been ... read more

A következő nap intenzív városnézéssel kezdődött az... read more

well, i survived!!! i did the lovely 21 hour ferry trip from ancona, italy to patras, greece. it actually went very well surprisingly. much better than i expected. we had a group of 7 of us and we were pretty early so we stood in line, waiting for our turn to get on the boat. we had a very good set up in our little area, which was actually quite big compared to others. we had the cheapy deck tickets, which means you are outside and you don't have a designated seat. you are actually lucky to get a seat at all. we were in the best place possible on the boat, i think so anyway. we were in a covered area, with a few tables and about 10 chairs between us. it was great fun ... read more

Our plan............get up early and see all there was to see at the Acropolis. Woops, we slept in again! Damn those curtains that don't let the sun in! Anyway we made it and what an amazing sight! It was so interesting to put yourself back sooooo long ago and imagine the setting from looking at the remaining relics. You could clearly see from the drawn diagrams what the remaining stone pieces used to make up. We climbed up quite a distance and the view was spectacular. It was very hot and Matt and I spotted these delicious looking frozen drinks and without hesitation Matt asked for two and the man replied 9 Euros please! We slurped every last bit out of those suckers (an expensive pit stop!) But darn they were good. We spent a good ... read more

We had a big sleep in today woops! When we finally surfaced we headed out to explore the markets. It was a handbag and shoe girls dream and the jewellery don't get me started. Luckily there was enough gadgets and boy stuff to keep Matt busy too! It was an incredibally hot day so we stopped at a cafe for a cool drink only to be sprayed with cool mist coming out of the fans crazy (wouldn't get away with that in water restriction Oz) In the evening we said we would find a quieter place than last night but one look at Metropolis street and we couldn't help ourselves! A Greek salad, mixed grill and a few Mythos beers later we rolled back to the hotel. hmmmmm so good!... read more

We got to go on our first plane ride of the trip today, yipeee! We arrived at about six pm and headed to Hotel Aristoteles. It was 32 degrees when we arrived so we were impressed with the air- conditioned room. By the time we headed out to dinner it was 9:30pm and we thought we would have to settle for a take-away kebab but no siree this is when it all happens in Greece! We walked for about ten minutes and no food places were grabbing our attention and we were thinking our hotel wasn't near anything and then we hit it............Metropolis Street. As far as the eye could see there were outdoor tables not one to spare, heaving with people, music and atmosphere! Matt and I went up and down a few times with ... read more
