Europe » Monaco October 21st 2012

We arrived in Monaco and walked down the hill to the harbor. What an amazing place! We were really liking it here and that was just in the first 10 minutes. We walked along the water towards the Palace. We found a place below the palace to eat lunch and we had pizza again. It was a very good lunch and soon we were climbing the path to the palace. It was so nice up there at the top and the views were amazing! After walking around for about an hour, we went and toured the inside of the palace. It was pretty cool to see some of the rooms and learn about Monaco. After the palace tour, we had some gelato before going back down the hill. We got a bus to the casino so ... read more

Who could go to Nice and not visit nearby Monaco? Not us! We awoke early and had some pastries at the hotel. We knew we wanted to visit Monaco, but really did not know our options to get there. We travel on a budget, so it had to be relatively inexpensive for us to go. We asked at the hotel desk and they told us to get bus 12 to the rail station and then it would be not more than 20 Euro for the 20 minute rail trip to Monaco. Works for us! The bus ride took maybe 15 minutes and then we saw a train was leaving within 15 minutes, so we purchased our return tickets. We walked out to the track and waited. There were a lot of people going to Monaco this ... read more

We landed in Nice and cleared customs and immigration within 15 minutes. It was busy because the Emirates flight had arrived not long before us. We went out and got bus 23 to our hotel. It was a packed ride of about 20 minutes, but our stop was right in front of the hotel, so it was convenient. We checked in and then walked out to the beach promenade. We walked all the way down the promenade to Nice city center and then walked down the pedestrian street. We searched for a place to have dinner and had a tough time choosing, but settled for an Italian place that was busy and had been there a long time. It was called La Pizza, and pizza is what we had, along with some pasta. It was very ... read more

We awoke and went to eat breakfast downstairs. We would get an airport shuttle at 8am in order to be there in enough time for our 11am flight. We arrived to Dublin airport at around 8:30am, checked in, and went through security to the gate area. Soon it was departure time and we were onboard Aer Lingus flight 544, which was an Airbus 320 to Nice. The flight only had about 50 or so people on it so plenty of room. I was in economy seat 4A for the 2 hour and 30 minute flight. The flight was smooth and routine and after 2pm, we were landing in France.... read more

This morning we caught up on some much needed sleep and then went down to breakfast just before it ended at 10am. After breakfast, we took the bus into the city center again. We still had one more day on our hop-on hop-off bus so we jump on it. We rode it around until the Jameson Distillery this time. We really enjoyed the tour and our free Jameson and ginger at the end. The girls just had ginger ale. We ate lunch at Jameson, in the cafe and it was really good actually! When we got back on the bus, we rode it to near the end of the line and visited the National Leprechaun Museum. I did not want to go to this but ended up liking it. When we finished that tour, it was ... read more

It was about a 15 minute ride to our hotel-the Holiday Inn Express. We checked in and even though it was only around 8am, we were able to have a room already. We put up our stuff and went down to the breakfast buffet. I was not too hungry, but did have some water and coffee. We asked at the front desk, about getting into town via public transport, and Janice was so helpful! We would walk a few minutes to the bus stop and then it would be about 30 minutes to the city center. We wen to the room to change and then left for the bus. The bus was packed but we did get seats upstairs. Once we were in the city, we purchased tickets for a hop-on hop-off bus. I don't really ... read more

North America » United States » Georgia » Atlanta October 17th 2012

We awoke early in Exuma, so I could plan the rest of our trip and so we could pack. I ended up listing us for an Atlanta to Dublin flight, but I was pretty sure we would not go there. I also got online to tell the TB that we would meet in Vienna, that we would no longer be going there. At about 11:30am, we took a taxi to Exuma airport for our 1:15pm flight to Atlanta. We cleared for business class and I was in seat 2A on the CRJ-700 aircraft. It was Delta flight 5606. The flight was smooth and routine and I had my usual gin and tonics while enroute. We landed in Atlanta on time and cleared customs and immigration pretty quickly. We then went to the Delta Sky Club to ... read more

We awoke early and had breakfast and then I went to see if I could get a ride to the market to buy some more beverages. The Condo owner threw me his keys and said go for it! How cool is that? Luckily I have driven on the "wrong" side of the road when I was in South Africa, so no issues there. I went the few miles to the market and made my purchases and then when I arrived back at the condo, we went to lunch at Augusta Bay. We were a little tired of getting too much sun. It is very strong down there and we had a little too much the previous days. Our lunch was good, but not as good as the dinners that we had at Augusta Bay. We finally ... read more

We slept in today, then had some breakfast, before heading out to the beach. On our way to the beach, we met a family who had relocated to Exuma for the simple island life. They were super nice and fun to chat with. They said I could go on their boat with them that afternoon if I wanted to. We were on the beach a few hours, before walking back to the condo for lunch. Sadly, my tooth began to act up. Before our trip, I had some oral surgery done, and it was giving me fits. We went back to the beach later on and I told the family that I would not go on the boat due to my tooth. I wished I had though because we saw them when they returned, and they ... read more

Central America Caribbean » Bahamas » Exuma » Georgetown October 14th 2012

We went to Exuma in July of 2011 and really fell in love with the place. It is so quiet and relaxing. It is sort of like having your own private island and beach. The beaches are amazing and the water is so clear. It was so nice to be back! We immediately felt at home as we went through customs and immigration. We caught a taxi to our condo, which is the same condo we stayed at last trip. It is called Sapphire Garden Townhomes. They are closed on Sunday, but like last time, they said they would leave the condo open for us. They also would stock the refrigerator with some drinks. We were dropped off in front of the unit and were a little nervous. You see, last time they had a sign ... read more
