Geo: 16.392, 103.924Watch Rostov 1v1 Man Utd at 01:00 so another disrupted nights sleep. Of course, I could just miss the football, but ...I still have a few jobs to do around the garden before we leave and decide it is time to make a start. Jai wants to transplant some of her mat grass and I agreed to prepare an area of border for her to use. I clear all the weeds and decide it would benefit from having some fresh soil as well. Normally, once a year, I carry buckets of soil from outside our house where it gets washed by the rains each year. Last year (year before ?) the post office opposite had a few truckloads of soil delivered and it has given me a good supply since. I fill a few ... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.924I didnt drink any beer last night nor I did I have any football tyo watch at silly o'clock so finally managed to get a decent nights sleep. Waking up this morning it looks as though it rained a little overnight again and that probably helped as well. I bike into Phon Thong to bring this blog up to date and have a nose around on the internet. Book guest house in Bangkok for overnight on 20th and try to book coach tickets to get home from Heathrow on 21st but National Express website wasnt playing.Things start to brighten up a bit as I ride back to Khamnadie.Little bit of pottering in the back garden after lunch then in the evening we both go for our reservoir walk.... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.924Watch Arsenal finished off by Bayern Munich at 02:45. 5v1 down after first leg I give up and return to sleep when aggregate score reached 7v2 - now see it finished 10v2 !We actually had a light shower of rain overnight and things are still cloudy this morning. As the morning progresses a few more light showers pass by and there is no sun at all today. With the threat of rain lurking I decide to burn off the large pile of rubbish and garden cuttings that has accumulated in case it gets a soaking.Jai comes for a walk with me again this evening and even breaks into a 'jog' a couple of times. An American chap named Guy pulls up on his motorbike just as we are finishing and introduces himself. Apparently he lives ... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.924I bike into Phon Thong to watch the rugby and almost wish I hadnt bothered. With 10ins to go I was confidently watching what was looking like being a bonus point win when ... 27v15 up became a 27v30 defeat !! Story of their season. Read afterwards that coach Laurie Fisher has resigned. Not entirely sure he can be blamed for final 10mins like this but I guess any change may bring about a change of fortunes ... ?It is baking hot as I ride back to Khamnadie.Jai has had a phone call to ask her to go and see Wan to string a loom for her so I bike her across the village after lunch.Jai is gone for the afternoon so I take my evening walk alone tonight.... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.924My already disturbed nights sleep was shattered at 02:00 by a pick-up truck passing at snails pace with music on full volume. The bass actually made the bed vibrate as it passed. Jai didnt even wake up ?! I had to get out of bed for a look out the window only to discover that it was accompanied by multi-coloured flashing lights and dancing kids ... all very Buddhist ?After breakfast we fulfill out invitation and go to the house where the wedding is taking place today. People are already getting stuck into the beer and whisky but I cant face either just after breakfast. We leave our 'gift' and depart with a bag of food appropriate to the size of our 'gift'.The annual tax on the ricefields is due just after we leave ... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.924We receive an invitation to another wedding before we have even finished breakfast this morning.I bike into Phon Thong leaving Jai to do the laundry. When I get back to the house it looks as though she has washed everything we own and changed the bed.I thought that all of the loud music etc had finished yesterday afternoon but just after lunch the noise starts up again and this time its the monks at the village temple to blame. The chanting continues at full volume on the village PA system throughout the rest of the day. To make matters worse there is another microphone being used on which someone is talking over the monks and it sound like a radio station that isnt properly tuned in. Dreadful. In the afternoon I use my borrowed ladder ... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.924The loud music from our neighbours house starts up again at 05:00 so not much sleep has been granted and I am not in a very good mood this morning. We bike into Phon Thong for some shopping and I eventually get around to buying a new toilet seat. Have given up on the possibility of getting one the same colour as the toilet so we will have to make do with a two-tone toilet from now on. At least it will match the rest of the bathroom which is a mixture of shades of blue and green.Back at the house I fit the new toilet seat at the same time as Tippy & Berm are getting hitched next door ... romantic eh ?! At least I can enjoy a comfy poo again now !!Early ... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.924We are surprisingly free of aches and pains this morning which is a good start to the day.Right after breakfast we finish loading up the handcart then tow it on the bike to the neighbouring village of Pak Chong to hopefully sell some of it at least ... fingers crossed. There is no-one there when we arrive so we pull up in the shade at the side of the road and wait. Fortunately the chap arrives about 10mins after us. He takes one look at the fruit and says that it isnt ripe and wont have any oil yet. He searches through everything, estimates that we have cut about 200kg, and takes about 10kg that he is happy to buy from us. So that's about 1GBP between the two of us for about 8 hours ... read more

Geo: 16.392, 103.92402:45 wake up to watch Man City 5v1 Huddersfield.Right after breakfast we borrow a small handcart and head out to the farm to make a start on cutting the fruit from our palm trees. We appreciate that most of it isn't really ripe yet but if we don't cut it now it will just die on the trees when we are not here. We will cut it all and let the chap who buys it decide if any of it is saleable. At least by cutting it all off we will make room for the new seasons fruit to start to form when the rains come and we could have a decent crop next year. This is really hard work although fortunately this morning isn't too hot. We spend about 2 ½ hours and ... read more
