Watch Rostov 1v1 Man Utd at 01:00 so another disrupted nights sleep. Of course, I could just miss the football, but ...
I still have a few jobs to do around the garden before we leave and decide it is time to make a start. Jai wants to transplant some of her mat grass and I agreed to prepare an area of border for her to use. I clear all the weeds and decide it would benefit from having some fresh soil as well. Normally, once a year, I carry buckets of soil from outside our house where it gets washed by the rains each year. Last year (year before ?) the post office opposite had a few truckloads of soil delivered and it has given me a good supply since. I fill a few buckets and use them to raise up the new border. Whilst I am at it I decide that I might just as well clear right across the front and end up carrying 30-40 buckets of soil into back garden. I am sure there will still be plenty outside the house again byt the time we get back in September.
I still have 10 palm trees that
need last years dead flowers and fruit cutting off as well ... maybe next week.
We had still not received the promised receipt from the village office for Jai's rice tax payment. Whilst I was working out front the Doctor from opposite asked about it as, for some obscure reason, she was supposed to be bringing the receipt to us. Told her we were planning on going to the office later this morning to chase things up. She told us not to bother as the person we needed to see had a 'meeting' to attend today. I guess the 'meeting' was one of the many parties that are on around the village at the moment. The Doc offered to find the receipt for us but I wasnt hopeful. Surprisingly enough she returns about 1 hour later with paper in hand. Couldnt have been that hard could it ?
Mid-afternoon Fin's other gran, Yai Dare visits to see if we have any chilli plants around the garden that she could have. I always throw the dish washing water into Jai's mat grass outside the back door and as there is often seeds in the water chilli plants pop up all over the place,
as do other things. She is in luck and leaves with about 20 chilli plants, some baby aubergine plants and a couple of ripe papaya.
Fin arrives at our place straight from school and decides that she wants to come on our evening walk with us. She rushes home to change then comes right back and we are off. I am sceptical but she does complete 2 laps, Jai struggles to do 3 (perhaps because Fin is sat in the shade watching) and I have to do my final lap on my own.
Fin comes back to our place and helps Jai transpant her grass in exchange for some dinner. Cant be child labour, just wish she could cut palm trees !!!
