Finally going to get another bucket item crossed off my list. After checking into the Ibis Hotel across from Albert Dock, I took a well deserved nap!! The room was spacious for me but I couldn't see two people living here. No TV but didn't need one. The only thing I forgot and didn't like is that while they have AC its not individually room control. Its a central unit on the roof. No problem I thought, I brought a small fan with me! The fan I brought sounded funny when I took it out of my suitcase. When I plugged it in using the adapters, it ran then stopped then started smelling like burnt wire. I quickly unplugged it to see small wisps of smoke coming from it. Luckily, the hotel had a large fan ... read more

Finally made it to Euston Station. Very busy place. I was able to sit for a while in the first class lounge for Virgin Trains. It was busy but at least I could sit for a while. About 30 minutes before my time of departure I went down to the main floor. The English system for train boarding is different. You have to wait to find out which platform your train will depart from. So everyone who is waiting on their train are staring at these large electronic billboards. About 10-15 minutes before departure, the platform is indicated and you see a large group of people start moving towards the platforms. Once I got mine, I was able to get to the 1st class section. There is only 1 person on the platform to help you ... read more

OMG! I thought this would be easier. I decided to try to get to London and then onto Liverpool without using a travel company. After debarking from the plane, we must have walked over a mile of underground tunnels and passageways to get to the border entry. Waited about 25 minutes in line to get my passport stamped. Then walked another half mile to get to my luggage. The walked for another 10 minutes to get to the Underground Subway entrance in Terminal 2 only to find out that I need to print my tickets in Terminal 3. So off I went to 3 and finally got to the platform to wait for the Tube (English word for their underground subway system). I had decided to pack my carry on inside the larger suitcase. Ooof very ... read more

Had a nice time on United. The seat next to me was reserved for a flight attendant which was barely used. I was served a nice appetizer and dinner. I was able to watch a movie while I ate. They gave us a bag of toiletry items. I was also able to get some really nice shots of the clouds. It was still daylight when we left North America and headed out over the ocean. You can see the peninsula in one of the pics. Since I was flying United Polaris Business Class, my very comfy seat turned into a flat bed. I was able to get about 3 1/2 hours of sleep before we landed.... read more

Made it to D.C. Since flying first class I had planned on sitting quietly in United Club lounge like I did the last time I flew internationally. Unfortunately times have changed. The place was very crowded. Lots of children and babies. The noise from the bar/kitchen reminded me of a diner. So much for quiet reflection. At least the light appetizers and non alcoholic drinks were free. Grabbed some fruit and cheese. Update: as I was leaving United club I am receptionist if this was the only one. Apparently they were two more closer to my gate. So I went to the last one that's closest to my gate. It was almost empty. So much better. Relax and meditate for a while.... read more

Well after the extremely stressful week last week and this week, I decided to take off not on Friday but on Thursday. I left about 4:00 a.m. It was 64° outside. My mileage showed 140690. The cats, Scout and Indy, were very quiet. I keep them in their carriers on the passenger side floor board. The sun began to make itself know just before I got to San Bernadino and Hesperia. I stopped for gas at Exit 9 in Arizona. Just when I was about to leave, a large group of the California Mongols motorcycle club pulled in along with their support trucks. It was very impressive to see all those bikers. I made it to Albuquerque, NM by 5 p.m. Was not feeling well with a bit of a bad cold, so I ate dinner ... read more

8:30 a.m.Due to lack of students and having everything done at school, I was able to leave for my trip a day early. I was on the road at 9:43 a.m. My mileage was 31734 and the weather was the typical June Gloom at 68F. Magge vomited twice even before I rolled out of the driveway. 12:59 p.m.Rest stop ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245OMG!!! After looking at the slip of paper that Naomi was given by US Airways in Long Beach, and based on what they told her, we parked in Terminal 1 for US Airways. We made it to the ticket counter and handed the man behind the counter the paper. He took one look at it and said that we were at the wrong airline! Two letters, UA, were printed near the top and that is where we should be. So I asked where is United Airlines terminal. He replied that it was in Terminal 6 on the other side of the airport. Since I had already parked my car, he said that we could take the airport shutttle that loops around the airport. So we head outstide to wait about 10 minutes to take ... read more

Geo: 33.7664, -118.192Well the day started out well. We got up about 6:15 am, and Naomi got packed. I will have to ship to her house in Florida about 2 boxes of stuff that wouldn't fit in her suitcases. After a nice breakfast in Long Beach, I took her to the Long Beach Airport. After getting her checked in, I walked her to the security check point. I admit I got misty-eyed. It was a nice 3 weeks having her with me and sight seing across the country. I then went on to my doctor visit regarding my rash. While there, she text me that the plane hadnt left yet due to enging problems. After another hour, I had to go pick her up. They rebooked her on a 11 pm direct flight to Orlando out ... read more
