Geo: 33.7664, -118.192We visited the Aquarium and a nice cool visit. We watched the fish swim, fed some Lorikeets, dodged birds pooping, sea lions entertaining crowds, touched coral reef plants and animals, and watched an otter swim and dive right by the glass. Afterwards we ate at my sports bar, Yankee Doodles, and then headed home so Naomi can pack up for tomorrow's flight. After getting out of the shower and cooling off, I went to say something to Naomi in her area of the house and she was fast asleep. She woke up about 10 just as I was going to bed. ... read more

Geo: 34.0533, -118.245After a day of laying around the house and resting up, we headed off to the Los Angeles Zoo for 3 hours. It was a warm day but it was a nice trip. Naomi actually admitted to sweating for the first time. Nice to have those genes. While some of the animals were hiding in the shade, others were out and about. One of the nice areas was the new Elephants of Asia section. The elephants get real close to a nice viewing area. Another area I witnessed a very funny monkey incounter that was funny. See the pictures to view what I saw. When we stopped by the Giant River Otter area, one lone otter was agitated either for its mate/relation in a nearby pen or wanted his lunch. It kept calling out. ... read more

Geo: 32.7157, -117.162We left the house at 5 am. Unfortunately, about 20 minutes down the freeway, I noticed that I was not wearing my glasses. While they are not necessary for driving, I need them for reading!! So after turning around, getting my glasses, we headed back to San Diego. The funny thing about the whole situation was that I bugged Naomi about making sure she had everything she needed! We got to park at the same location ($12), and we found a restaurant, Cafe Diem, to have breakfast. The resturaunt was taken over for the week by Comic Con by Syfy Channel. The prices must have went up too since an omlet breakfast was $15!!! We didnt have our badges so we were directed to get in line by section A. We got to section ... read more

Geo: 34.0481, -118.526Naomi and I visited the Getty Villa. The Getty Villa is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The collection has 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities dating from 6,500 BC to 400 AD. It was a wonderful place to visit. Lots of Greek and Roman artwork and statues. After spending 3 hours there, we headed back to my home for an early night before heading back to Comic Con tomorrow.... read more

Geo: 33.989, -118.462We headed to Venice Beach to see the street performers and to look at the vendors. I hadnt been down in that area for almost 10 years. Lots more vendors selling junk being passed as art work. Lots of medical Marijuana shacks! Watched some men jump groups of people. We grabbed breakfast/lunch at the sidewalk cafe. The waiter stated that he had served Amy Winehouse, who had died just that morning, just over a month ago. Afterwards we headed back to the car and went to the Getty Villa.... read more

Geo: 32.7157, -117.162After getting up early, we headed to the Gaslamp area to park in a parking garage for $12. Then we headed to go wait in line for about 2 hours. The line started outside, then it went inside, up the escalator, around the west side of the building along the back side, and then back to the east side. We sat for about an hour. At 9am they let us go down the escalator and into the exhibitor hall. Some people were actually running! Naomi and I split up since she was interested in different things than I was. Outside of the exhibitor hall, sessions were being held to discuss a wide range of topics regarding comics, whether in comic books, movies, tv shows, art work, or anime. I attended one regarding Battlestar Galactica. ... read more

Geo: 32.7157, -117.162We headed down to San Diego in the morning to do a little sight seeing around San Diego. We stopped by the USS Midway and the Bob Hope memorial. Then we went past the convention center and Gaslamp area. We saw some people already dressing up or promoting video games. We then headed to the marina to eat lunch before boarding a Hornblower cruise of the North Bay of San Diego. We saw some sea lions laying in the sun on floating pads. After the cruise we headed for Old Town San Diego to look around the old buildings. We then headed to our hotel. Once we settled in, I took out the papers regarding Comic Con. Good thing I did because we had to leave immediately to go to another hotel to get ... read more

Geo: 34.0729, -118.4After leaving Hollywood, we traveled to Beverly Hills and got to the Stinking Rose (a garlic restaurant)) about 3 pm. Naomi ordered a ravoli and I ordered a chicken and artichoke pasta dish. They brought out garlic rolls and we devoured them quickly. The food was wonderful!!! I had told them when we entered that this was her graduation dinner, so when we ordered the garlic ice cream with caramel sauce, they brought out a garlic hat for her to wear. The ice cream was free. We took another batch of bread home for a snack later.... read more

Geo: 34.0983, -118.326After a quick trip to Griffith Park to see the Hollywood Sign, we headed to a costume shop in Hollywood so that Naomi could get some items for her costume for Comic Con. Then as we drove past Madame Tousads Wax Museum we decided to go visit it. As we came out of the Nokia Theatre mall, people were setting up the area outside the El Capitan Theatre across the street for the premier of the Captain America. We then walked along the Hollywood Walk of Fame and visited the wax museum. It was worth the price of admission and much better the Wax Museum we visited in San Francisco. ... read more
