Today was a big day, so we had to set our alarm for the first time to make sure we were ready to be picked up at 9.30. We had our usual breakfast from our friendly little Thai man - bagels (for rach) and pancakes(for me) and waited eagerly for our day to begin- well rach waited eagerly and I waited a little nervously! First stop was the butterfly and orchid farm. We saw some nice orchids that we knew nanny would appreciate so we took some photos for her, then hunted for butterflies, and hunted, and hunted. In the end we found ONE, one tiny butterfly in a butterfly farm –what’s with that?! As we got back into the back seat of the van (the downside of being picked up last) we hoped that the ... read more

Today we started the day with bagels for breakie again from our fav breakfast stop at the end of our road. We had a busy day today. Starting off by finding a way to get up Doi Suthep mountain to visit the temple at the top. We had been told many prices but didn’t know the best way. In the end we ended up waiting almost an hour for our fav tuk tuk driver to organise a van for us. Complete luxury with air con and drink holders etc! J It took maybe 30mins to get to the top at the base of the stairs and we climbed the rest of the way. It was unlike either of us had expected but it was pretty cool. And a beautiful view of chiang mai at the top ... read more

We had a lazy start to the day, both of us in holiday mode, and both of us feeling the effects of the flights getting to Thailand. Great news was that we had wifi in our rooms. We found a cheap breakfast place and Rach had bagels and I had a strawberry pancake, both extremely cheap, and tasty...and just minutes from our accommodation. After much discussion, we decided to have an hour by the pool before we started on any adventures. We went for a swim in the VERY cold pool, but very refreshing. To find a tuk tuk was next on our list, and we found one easily, with a very friendly driver, who was happy to negotiate his original asking price. The roads in the middle of chiangmai are ring roads, making it tricky ... read more

We woke this morning to our breakfast being delivered to our rooms....heaven! We sat back in bed and enjoyed blueberry pancakes and coconut, mango and passionfruit waffles.....mmmmm! Then we ordered a taxi for the airport only to be told that the taxi drivers were complaining because the price of petrol had gone up and there would be a delay on taxi. We had allowed ourselves plenty of time, but with the delay we found we only had seconds to spare...last boarding call as we arrived at the gate! A quick flight to Chiang Mai, and we were greeted with an airport considerably smaller than than Bangkok...but very welcoming with lots of pamphlets and people offering to help. Our hotel is lovely, very quaint with plants and stone elephants everywhere. The shower is unusual, real stones cover ... read more

Finally NO SLEEPS to go!! Excitement central! Up at 6am I made my way to the tube to head into Heathrow Airport. No dramas – amazing! The flight was running 1 hour late from the get go but it was ok cos ended up just meaning 1 hour less stopover in Colombo. Got super excited prematurely as I thought I had 2 seats to myself and so would def get some sleep but no! All was good though, had a lovely old guy sitting next to me telling me of his once yearly trips to India and all of his adventures! Have to say he still hasn’t inspired me to travel there though! Watched a movie and then got about 5 hours sleep which I was stoked about. The flight was 10 hours and then we ... read more

I decided i was ready to spend the day with Sarah today and push myself cos its the only way to get al confidence back. So we headed up the top and did red runs all day – one harder than blue! It was so much fun! I struggled on the really steep bits but got her to board infront of me do her “moves” and I followed behind in suite, which made me actually do it even though I was scared in parts! It was really fun and i surprised myself hoe quickly I felt comfortable boarding on my left leg after doing so long on my right! But I guess it is my natural leg so should be easier. But is great now cos I can ride switch (both ways) which is a huge ... read more

I awoke after a pitiful maybe 3 hours sleep max to Sarah climbing on me going Rach Rach Rach wake up its christmassssss!!! Haha so even though I wasn’t home it did feel a lil bit like xmas morning! I hopped up in my onesie, we put our flashing santa hats on and went out onto our balcony which had the chair lift going over our villa and skiers and snowboarders in our backyard. The su was coming up over the mountains and it was a totally picture perfect day!! So much snow had fallen and it was just sensational! We couldn’t believe our eyes! So we sat out there in the cold and opened our presents from each other which was fun! Then we did a team effort of bacon and eggs on toast for ... read more

Xmas EVE! Once again a bright and early start Geneva bound from Stanstead at 6.05am! Had slight drama but nothing too major. I originally hadn’t booked checked in luggage (no idea how i thought I was gonna fit everything AT ALL) but then decided a week before after already booking my bus to the airport, that I was gonna pay for checked in luggage! Great idea but usually you can just hop on ay bus but cos it was xmas eve all the buses were full and they told me I had to wait until the one i booked came – which wouldn’t have given me enough time to check my bag in. So was having a slight stress as I did NOT wanna be stuck in London for xmas! But a nice driver next let ... read more

After a great sleep we woke feeling refreshed and ready to explore!! Off we went at 10am to begin with a plan of attack. Grabbed a roll for breakie and hopped on a diff cable car in search of the Olympic stadium and museum! After slight confusion with misleading signs we found the museum which was awesome!! had videos going all around the walls etc of past olympic games and even had stuff in there that werent from olympic sports. My kinda museum! Very cool. We then walked down the street further in search of the rings (anella the sign said) but we couldnt see them and stumbled across the 1992 olympic stadium instead but was also pretty impressive! We continued walking down the hill through the art museum which is where the water show last ... read more
