I have never heard of this drink, but love the the sound of it. Lovely photo!

Excited
I love the theoretical turn your blog has taken. The 'common source' of the guides information and their interpretation of "facts." And then you have the tourist imparting 'truth' by proxy, from MacQuarie. As an Andean Anthropologist in a previous life, I have a particular interest in this subject. I know you'll keep telling it how you see it and shooting from the hip. Let it flow!

Linda with a bowl of the variety of corn

Off to a grand start!
Wow, you really covered a lot of ground in your time there. Interesting that the guides all had different accounts, which I have to say is a bit bizarre--rather like our experience here in La Paz, eh? That frothy chicha morada is the yummiest I've ever seen--I want one! Glad you enjoyed your time in one of my favorite cities!

Ah the joys of Peru
Glad you are getting a good history lesson. We'll be glad to hear your thoughts after you read that book on your return. I'm sure the stories are close enough to give you the idea of historical events. We loved our time in Peru and are eager to read more. Thanks for your impressions.

Meeting in La Paz
Yes...the driver picks us up at 8 am and our first stop is to pick you up on the front steps of the cathedral. We have been so busy traveling it's been hard to find time to write the blogs. I've started my Cusco blog and loaded the pictures, and labeled half of them, The pictures help jog my memory.

Fantastic!
I love Peruvian food! I've never been to Peru though. My best friend (who I've known since high school) currently lives in Denver and is dying to go to Peru. It's at the top of her list! By the way the cliffs pic looks gorgeous; I think the overcast day made for a mysterious alluring scape. =)

Lima
We traveled to Peru before we started blogging but these photos bring back some great memories. We've got a similar photo in the Garden of Love. That is a nice photo of both you and Linda. I wonder how many pocket knives they collect each year. You are so used to carrying it that you forget you have it. Happy travels.

New images of old memories
I remember... I was there from 1960 to early 65. Never been back though I've often thought about it. Maybe someday.

Great to get your belated response...
We just spent the day in Machu Picchu. There is so much to blog, but likely won't get to it until tomorrow evening after we arrive in Puno. No hurry with the recipes as we won't get home to cook until after 13 May. In the meantime we are enjoying fabulour Peruvian food...you know all about that! Oh, we meet Taracloud in La Paz on 8 May. We love meeting fellow TBers, with our time with you and David and Denise right at the top!

One last day
What a fabulous blog, the world as your oyster. You've really brought the sights, sounds, smells alive. May the last day of travelling be many many moons away.....but how lovely to be able to share part of it with you and Linda. I'd forgotten about the recipes! And as you can see I am wildly behind in my blog reading while tied up with work. I will get onto it pronto!

Am I meant to travel?
Last year six weeks before my trip to China I broke my ankle. Now, three weeks before this trip I broke my right elbow. I can travel with a broken elbow!

Wonderful Imagery
As you began to describe your morning in Doing Intunan I really felt like I was there, what a beautiful way to begin a day. I love that you used the theme of the early morning again and again - what a time to be alive.

My senses could still be stirred...
45 years later...and recaptured for that "last" day. That's a requirement to be considered for such a day. Thanks for your comment.

Deja Vu...
Glad you got to out your dream day too! Only been to two of these, Antibes & Sydney, and have to agree they're top spots, so will have to look into checking out the rest in the future. Cheers, Andy.

Thanks for the inspiration...
I hope other TBers take this on...and not just for their fifth anniversary.

Bob's ode to travelling
Reading the most beautifully written of all your blogs in my opinion...drawing the reader into a taste of your delight in travelling...the ambience, dawn to dusk...from the man whose life has been many many journeys...a real gem Bob. To get a mention blows me away...a humble thank you. Denise would prefer to deliver the recipes in person if that suits.

Thanks for the compliment...
The time with you, Denise, and Rachel was a travel highlight for Linda and me. We are looking forward to your visit and Denise's recipe(s). Send a private message, when you get closer to picking a date, and also what you would like to do.

A life well traveled, a life fully lived
None of us will stop traveling until they throw the dirt on us. Impossible to narrow it down and if you wrote it tomorrow it might include different locations but the theme would be the same... family, friends and treasured moments. We learn so much from each person, each conversation, each encounter. You like us have lived your life with your heart and mind open to others. You've given back and helped when you can. Memories full of life, food, joy, music, friendship...and the joys of blogging. Eagerly awaiting your next blog, your next trip, your next experience. We cherish your friendship.
