Bison for dinner!
Sounds like a lovely catch up with Peter. I'm very curious about what bison tastes like...I would love to try it. However I think I could skip the -13 degree weather :)

German Christmas and an Extended Family
I spent several Christmases in Europe, and truly, the Germans do it best! How great that a taste of it came to you in Denver. And since Christmas is for families, how wonderful that you got to get together with Peter from our Travelblog family. Except for the dresses, it sounds like a great start to the season. Prost!

Excavation under the Temple Mount

Photos of 1982 excavation at Temple Mount - Can we license? - Prometheus Entertainment
Hi, I'm a researcher for Prometheus Entertainment, a television production company in Los Angeles, CA. We're looking for more images of the actual excavations of the Temple Mount during the year 1982. Would you be interested in allowing us to use your photo of the 1982 excavation there? Also, do you have any more from that same excavation? If so, please contact me at the email I provided. Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you soon! Have a great day! ~ Rick

Outstanding photos!
You make this so inviting that I may have to move there! How exciting to be on the continental divide sensing the rivers heading to opposite oceans and to be so close to other spectacular places. It looks heavenly--thanks for sharing your images and adventure!

We would love for you to visit...
now that my Mom has moved to a nursing home we even have a bedroom you could use. Woodland Park is a perfect base to see the central Rockies within a days drive south to New Mexico (my previous blog), west to Utah (lots of national parks) and Nevada (Las Vegas), and north to Wyoming (Grand Tetons and Yellowstone) and South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore, etc). We don't drive east unless we have to. A big loop around all these places also works. So please come to visit.

Glad you enjoyed my blogs and pictures...
My blog is the archive. What else was I going to do with the hundreds of slides and prints I had accumulated in boxes over the years! Soon I will be posting a blog "Traveling back in time" with additional old pictures from my Dad...when he was 17 he took a picture of King George VI in an open limo driving through NYC on his visit to FDR (subject of the Hyde Park movie). Anyway, thanks again for appreciating my archive!

wow!
I came on here looking for your early stuff from Da Lat (which I later found), and ended up reading all about your early life - it's so interesting I feel like I might end up going through the entire catalog, love some of those early photos and stories from Thailand as well... These photos are amazing, I feel like they belong in an archive

Coincidence
I was with NCEUR and we were on the second floor above the 1141st. I worked mostly in the J3/JRC in the command center building. Unfortunately, no, I was not with the ski club but many of my fellow NCEUR folks were members. You may remember Fritz McDougall who was in the J3/JRC. He was involved with the "Sitzmarkers" kids ski club. I should have been involved and to this day I don't know why I didn't! I was involved heavily with the Stuttgart-American Volksmarching Club. That kept me busy on most week ends. Sure miss doing that. My grandfather was born in a town called Jablonov (formerly Almas) in the county of Spis. In fact the town is within view of Spis Castle. My GM was born in Sarisske Michalany in Saros County not far from Presov. They met for the first time in Pittsburgh and were married there. There are people there with my surname (then spelled Cmorej) but I have not yet been able to make a direct connection. Let me know if you go near a village called Slatvina. I have a very good friend there who is the Mayor. He and his family visited us a few years ago in Florida. I can send you a link to my genealogy web page but would prefer to do it separately. All the best. Bill

Coincidences
My wife and I were stationed in Stuttgart 1981-84 and lived on Patch Barracks. I was with one of the 3 letter agencies. Also noted your connection to Slovakia. After I retired I got into the genealogy of my paternal grandparents and found out they were from eastern Slovakia. We have visited twice. You will enjoy it. It is a beautiful country.
13th September 2013

What a coincidence...
we were at Patch the same time. I was with J4/7 in the building with part of the second and third floors missing from a WWII bomb. Your office must have been right across the quadrangle above the snack bar if I'm guessing your three letter agency correctly. Were you ever a member of the Patch Ski Club? As for Slovakia, we only made it to Bratislava, but want to go to the eastern part where my wife's maternal grandparents are from.
