Paige, these elephants are part of the fountain at the pool. We can't decide if it is one 3 headed elephant or 3 one-headed elephants. What do you think? We hope to see a live elephant soon. If we do, we'll send a picture.... read more

The flowers are amazing on the resort grounds, so I had to take a few pictures. Don't ask me what they are because they're not labelled. This isn't Disney, you know. Maybe I'll find out before I leave. Or, think of it like a contest. The first person to identify all the flowers shown gets a Sheraton Hua Hin "gift bag".... read more

Hello! I know its been so long since I've written and I have a lot to catch up on. First of all, our resort in Hua Hin (pronounced "Wha Hin")...is gorgeous beyond words. It gets dark early here, so when we arrived around 8:00 pm on Saturday night it was hard to get a good picture of our surroundings. I could tell by the sounds and smells that it was going to be paradise. We were greeted with cold drinks and cool towels and escorted to our room on the grounds. The grounds, of course, are lush with trees and palms and flowering plants. One tree has the most wonderful smelling white flowers. The trees hang over the pool that encircles the complex and every once in awhile a flower drops into the pool to make ... read more

Hello! I guess I haven't written for 2 days now. The time has really "flown" by- ha, ha :) I'm happy to report that our flights were uneventful and painless. Our planes were on time, we did not lose any luggage (but I can not say the same for our travelling companions), we did not have to wait in long security lines, and immigration was no big deal. We had wonderful seats on Thai Airways- as wonderful as a seat that you will sit in for 16 hours can be. Delaney, guess what color the seats on the planes were? Purple and pink. The stewardesses were beautifully dressed in long, straight silk dresses and the stewards were in suits. Our plan was to get on the plane and sleep but we soon realized that we had ... read more

My friend Tongbai from the World Conservation Society picked me up from the Kaeng Krachan WWF office yesterday afternoon. He is very enthusiastic about this project, and wants me to see all aspects of his work. On the way here, we saw a 2.5 meter King Cobra, very impressive - but deadley! Just outside the villige, I had my first wild Elephant encounter. Three Elephants were in the road & had stopped the 3 cars in front of us. I got out of the car to take some pictures, but they had already started to move out of the road, so we drove closer & I managed to snap a few pictures of the Bull before he disapeared into the forest. A magnificent site! On arrival at the WCS Elephant protection office, I was shown my ... read more

Sa wat dii (Hello in Thai) Well we are about to leave for the next step on our tour. Thailand has been a revelation - it has everything and we both recommend anyone to come along - don’t go to the touristy places which are concentrated in a very small area but go everywhere else - it is great -food, culture, people, countryside (jungle, forest, mountains, rivers and beaches) and everyone is so hospitable. We are now in Cha-am (150 km south of Bangkok on the coast) and staying courtesy of some Thai friends in their beach front condo for a few days. Many thanks Jack and Robin for your great hospitality!!! It has given us the chance to stay in a home like place and Carol even cooked last night (first time in 4 months!!!!!!!) ... read more
