We spent four amazing days in koh phi phi - the craziest and best island by far. After arriving at the pier following another long boat journey we soon realised that this island has no cars and we were going to have to drag our backpacks to the other side of the island. Low and behold the rain came when we were within 5 minutes of our resort. We arrived absolutely soaking wet and proceeded to the swimming pool bar aided with a couple of changs to numb the pain of another treacherous journey. That evening we headed to the beach for a few drinks and seem to have stumbled across a circus of fire dancers. The infamous slinkys bar held the most amazing fire show where extremely talented Thai guys were doing all sorts with ... read more

We were driven from Khao Lak down to Phuket, and then caught the ferry across to Ko Phi Phi Don where we spent the second part of our Thai sojourn. There's something about signs at Thai tourist hotspots that's always brought a smile to my face, and I got an instant reminder of this as we got off the ferry. The large board hanging above the entrance to the pier instructed us to "Funnel into out the Passenger". Hopefully we complied. The rubbish bin in reception at the resort was labelled "Poisoning Garbage". Hmm. Probably best not to let any of that leak into the ocean. Finding the resort restaurant on the first night proved to be a bit of challenge - there were two signs to it on the same post, one pointing to the ... read more

After a short flight over the water from Penang we were welcomed into Patong Beach with massive flooding. During our packing back in Ireland did we never thought of bringing wellies. Even the guy at the hotel desk mentioned that its weird for it to be still raining in Phuket as the rainy season should be over by now. We took it easy the first night as I was still struggling from a dodgy stomach that I got from Penang. But the second night I honestly don't know where to start. It started out normally with a few drinks, a nice Thai meal (very cheap and only cost €7 in total) and some more drinks. Than we stumbled upon what I can only call the mad street (Bangala Rd). As we walked through we were offered ... read more

It has been the most amazing time. I have spent some great time on the Islands. Bamboo Island 1st, which was pretty deserted, the piece of island I had was literally me and my bag! The island is a 13km boat trip from Ton Sai Pier. It is a flat evergreen island with blending white sand and crystal clear water. The sand is so soft, white and the water as clear as a swimming pool. From there I snorkelled in 2 bays, one of which is called Mosquito Bay, which gets its name from the black cloud of mosquitos at sunset. We saw an abundance of tropical fish, sea urchins, jelly fish and amazing coral. Leaving there we headed into Maya Bay. It is a stunningly beautiful bay that's sheltered by 100-metre high cliffs on three ... read more

The island was crowded. This was obvious from the first step off the boat that we had shared with a guy and his pet gibbon dressed in dungarees! We had a rough idea of where we wanted to stay which was useful as it was push and shove as we came down the jetty. Theres prbably a hundred Guest houses in about 2km squared. Within 2 minutes of arriving Jordan and I decided to get tattoos here so after a quick manicure we found a tattoo place we liked the look of. I had mine done and over in about an hour but Jord sat there for the rest of the night while Surf and I explored the local night life. We watched the amazing fire display at Slinkeys and met a couple of American guys ... read more

Hello guys, sorry I thought that we would be able to have more access to the internet over the last week but due to our trips in Aus we haven't been on mainland for long enough to blog so this is our last blog about Thailand & then we will get you up to speed on how Australia is. As both Pat & myself agreed that Koh Phi Phi was our favourite island we decided to finish our trip of there, we were now travelling with a lad from essex called Ross and headed off early (8am) to make the journey from Samui to Phi Phi. After half a day's travel we arrived at our destination only to find out that the couple from Biringham that we were raving with in Koh Phangan were also in ... read more

Day 95 Wednesday 19th September to Day 107 Monday 1st 2012. Thailand – Beaches, Crystal waters, Resorts, Nightclubs, Ladyboys and Day 100. Days 95 to 107 saw us push through the magic 100 day milestone of our trip. We also got the news that both the Storm and Swans won their respective Grand Finals while travelling through Thailand. Our 13 days in Thailand began by arriving into Bangkok after overlanding across the Cambodian/Thai border. Bangkok is a vibrant city with plenty of traffic, noise, colour, food and entertainment (not necessarily for kids). We only planned to spend a few days in Bangkok and get to the southern beaches as soon as possible. 3 nights gave us time to organise our transport south, check out a few sights and enjoy some Thai food in the capital. We ... read more

Sorry about repeating ourselves slighty in the last two blogs, we were very drunk the first time so forgot what we had actually wrote. Anway we made it to Koh Phi Phi after a two hour boat journey that we struggled with due to the fact we had made the most of our last night in Phuket at a bar offewring 3 hours free bar, we just couldn't resist. We were accompained by a new friend om the wasy to Phi Phi from Leeds called Ollie he's a great chap who's travelling on his own, we decided to stay in the same accom he booked for the 1st night in Phi Phi which was a bambo built bunglow with a fan (bare in mind three lads, 2 mattresses and that was about it), we put our ... read more

Although we were sad to leave Ko Lanta, we were ready to see people and stay up past 10 again so onwards to Ko Phi Phi! We had another very organized pick up by mini bus and transfer by fast boat, which was pretty painless aside from some sea sickness! We had a bit of a dilemma picking somewhere to stay in Ko Phi Phi. This island is well known as a package holiday and party destination. We were debating bypassing the major party area, but given our experience of low season quietness in Ko Lanta, we decided to just embrace the masses! The centre of Ko Phi Phi is pretty easy to walk around, and we got to our hotel with out much fuss, mostly narrow tracks with bicycles and the odd scooter. We were ... read more
