We arrived in Bangkok airport and quickly boarded our plane to Phuket. We were planning on staying in Phuket just for one night, and catching the ferry from there to Koh Phi Phi, which we heard was one of the nicest of the islands. The flight wasn't too long, just an hour or so, and when we arrived in Phuket airport it was after 10pm. The public bus we were planning on taking to our hostel was finished up at this stage, so we gingerly stepped outside the airport only to be hounded by taxi drivers. It was pretty stressful, and after a day of travelling we were pretty tired and grumpy. One particular taxi driver was pestering us so much, we snuck back into the airport through a different door just to get away from ... read more

I left Bangkok 5 days ago and literally been island hopping. Having a fantastic time in the sun and seeing the most beautiful islands. From Bangkok I got a night bus down to Krabi and Ko Phi Phi on the eastern side of Thailand. It was really straightforward from Khao Sarn Road and we were literally ferried along the route. The ferry was loevly and was just over sun rise. Ko Phi Phi is the most beautiful place I have ever been. white, sandy beaches nd a buzzing touristy centre. We spent the night in a little bungalow jus above the main town and the day on the beach. The following morning, we chilled out before getting another ferry to Koh Lanta, just below. The island wasnt half as pretty, but so much more relaxing. My ... read more

When we last left you we wondered in what state we would arrive at Krabi and with what possessions. It is with pleasure we can announce we arrived in tact at Surat Thani (yes we had to detour here, it turns out everyone boards the same bus to here then distributes to their onward place!) all our possessions were fine and all present, no evidence of tampering and we were even slightly rested, not well, but rested. We were asked where our destination was beyond Krabi as this is merely the jumping off point for surrounding islands and beach resorts, and houses a port and a dusty town. Upon replying Koh Phi Phi we were advised to buy the transfer as they would drop us out of town, yes of course how convenient, and arrange a ... read more

I arrived back in Bangkok after Claire left a little bit anxious.. I was on my own again after having one of my best friends with me for the past 2 weeks. But I didn't need to worry and soon found my feet again.. I booked a bus/boat to Phi-Phi the next day and on the boat over to Phi Phi I met a really fun Canadian girl called Natasha. I met her whilst sunbathing on the boat deck.. before a monsoon started, rain chucking down like crazy! I almost thought my little backpack was going to be swept off board and had to hold my skirt down whilst trying to get inside the boat, it was an absolutely nightmare but funny at the same time! Once inside we chatted more about our travels so far ... read more

Officially arrive in Paradise! Took the 2hr boat at 11am over to Koh Phi Phi, arriving in the harbour surrounded by tall steep cliffs, waves lapping up, the clear blue sea below us, fish, coral. It was gorgeous! It took about 2 minutes to find our hostel. Ivory hostel- its literally right in the centre of the island... which is only about 2 minutes from the beach. Checked in. Lovely rooms...would call it more of a hotel than a hostel. Decided to go for a wander and explore the island. Had a good wander around in the scorching sunshine, taking in pardise. Passed a dive school and got chatting to a girl there about how good the diving is on Phi Phi. We had all decided before the holiday we wanted to dive and Phi Phi ... read more

1237 steps of hell, to find a sanctuary - The Tiger Cave Tempell With Lewis sidelined, not wanting to stray too far away from a lavatory we left him at the Blue Juice basecamp and decided to climb the fabled Tiger Cave Temple (Once upon a time a Tiger lived in a cave and it used to roar. This attracted some buddhist monks. They ended up building a temple 1237 steps in the sky and the Tiger ended up running away. ie. Religion destroys wildlife.) Anyway, after we shed half our bodyweight in sweat we arrived at the summit and marvelled at the views. Then we went back down and got a lift back from a Thai boxer with over 150 fights under his belt. Good experience. Lolz. For Louise's 24th birthday we decided to go ... read more

I'd heard mixed reactions about Koh Phi Phi Don (pronounced Pee-Pee) from other travelers and foreigners living in Thailand, but I decided to check it out anyway, since there were heavy rains in Chiang Mai and I wanted to see the Andaman Coast. I took a ferry from Koh Pha Ngan back to Surat Thani, and then a 3+ hour bus to Krabi Town. I stayed there for a night, then two nights on Koh Phi Phi, and then, due to flight costs, for two more nights in Krabi before flying back to Bangkok. Krabi Town is 70% Muslim (and has a significant Taoist population as well), so it has a decidedly different atmosphere than the opposite coast and the north. After seeing some of the surrounding areas that are even more touristy, Krabi Town isn't ... read more
