Dnes je v plane tura do blizkeho narodneho parku. Recepcny mi odporucil zacat turu pri sambeung. Na ranajky teda cerealie, pokec s juhoafricankou nemeckeho povodu. Ta je uplna nadrzana zo vsetkych chramov, musi navstivit kazdy jeden. V tokiu ich vraj navstivila okolo stovky. Je to uz starsia zenska. Biblia = lonely planet. K sambeung ide bus c. 500, 505, 506, 507, 508. Nepotesilo ... read more

Dear All Wow! Greetings from Pyeongchang, South Korea! Six months ago, when I visited Northern Ireland for a few days, I remember watching the Winter Olympics on TV while I was having breakfast in my lovely BnB there in Belfast, and thinking that in a few months, I’ll be there myself. In fact, here it is, I am here myself! It seems so strange to be here, having seen this place on TV on the other side of the world so many times, and it’s actually really amazing. I have had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of days here, and just when I thought travel fatigue might be around the corner, starting to get the better of me, up popped Pyeongchang, and I am renewed once more with travel energy again! And I don’t think it will ... read more

Na ranajkach mini pokec s fra rodinkou. S tatkom som sa bavil uz vcera vecer. V tomto mestecku su uz 7den. Maju so sebou 3male deti (tip 10,7,5) preto cestuju dost pomali. Neskor prichadza taiwancaka pracujuca v soule. Na taiwancanku dost objemna ale v norme. Mini pokec o blbostiach. Izbu opustam o 10.00 a presuvam sa dole do kaviane. Tam opat nikoho a bohuzial ani klima nebola pustena. Vlak meska asi 10min. ... read more

Ranajky opat rovnake. Dnes o 9.40 smer odporucany Dosan Seowon. Bus isiel z opacnej strany ako vcera. Pipam kartu a usadzam sa do prazdneho vozidla. So mnou ide jedna talianka, neskor nastupuje kopa dochodcov. Vsetci sa poznali. Ideme okolo velmi peknej rieky, no zacina poprchat. Talianka guida (starsia zena) akceptuje. Ludi tu moc neni, tak ... read more

An early morning train out of Busan took me to Suwon, about 30km south of Seoul, just before 1pm. My hotel was so out of way that even the local cabbies struggled to find it. But I eventually checked into the New Suwon Hotel (small room, too much ambient lights at night, but a comfortable bed and a way too big TV) and went off to explore Suwon, or at least I would have if the temperature wasn’t at an unbearable 38°C. It was so bad that the streets were practically deserted. I simply dived into the nearest eatery for cutlet lunch and had to constantly duck into convenience stores for temporary respite. There’s no metro in Suwon and you need to catch a bus to get round. That is. If you can find a bus-stop. ... read more

Dear All Greetings from a small city in the south of South Korea, called Gyeongju. It may be small today, but is actually a very important historical site in the whole of Korea, as it was once the capital of the ancient Shilla kingdom. I had originally planned to write my next entry from my next destination after this one, Andong, as I currently have three places to visit in quick succession, spending two nights in each rather than three. However, I have a bit of free time now, and feel I would like to write a blog entry about my time here in Gyeongju. I last wrote about to leave Busan, and on Sunday morning, made my last long metro journey northwards, to the end of the number 1 metro line, to the Express Bus ... read more

Dear All Greetings from Andong, the second of my three quick stopovers in the depths of Korea, between Busan and Seoul. By quick, I mean two nights. I usually prefer to spend three nights in a place, unless it’s a place like Andong which only really seems to warrant two. Despite only spending two nights here, I have really enjoyed being here. It’s a lovely city, small and compact, friendly, and compared to Gyeongju, not really a touristy city at all, but seemingly a typical, everyday, working Korean city. This is the kind of place I like to be, to see a country as it really is. And Andong seems the perfect place for it. In addition to its comparative normality, there are also a fair few tourist attractions here, and mainly the amazing Hahoe Folk ... read more

Vsetky idu do mesta. Ukazujem najskor 1k w ale vodic vravi, este 200w. Tak hadzem 500w a vypadavaju mi drobaky. Furt nevim kde dobit tmoney kartu, chuj mal som si ju dobit v soule. Do odchodu busu zhruba 45.min. V okienku bezproblemov kupeny listok, kartou sa platit nedalo. Avsak domacou kartou hej. Opat fasujem cislo 21. Oproti davam najhorsu kelinkovu polivku za cely trip, dorazam sa este trojuholnikom plnenej ryze. Vonku pred obchodom bordel.

And so Monday morning, I’m at the bustling Seoul Station to catch the 10:00 KTX express train to Busan, and in first class to boot. What you get extra in first class is wider comfier reclining seats, Wi-Fi access, free water, snacks and newspapers. I spent most of the journey posting on Instagram and attempting an initial draft of the first travel blog. To save you from asking, there were no zombies on this train to Busan, sadly… A little under three hours later I arrive at Busan Station – home of the slowest moving escalators in the world – on Korea’s south east coast. The nation’s second city is its main port and home to its biggest seaside resort. Both were evident on the taxi to my hotel in the Haeundae district, the main beach ... read more
