I arrived very weary and disgustingly dirty at 2am at the Hilton International on Orchard Road, Singapore’s première shopping district. I chuckled at my reflection in the marble studded floor and perfectly reflective tiled walls as I stuck out like a gross sore thumb! After a cheery hello to my mum I clambered into the plush cushiony bed, underneath the aircon, in front of the TV and fell into a very happy sleep. The first day we spent doing nothing but talking and eating; my two favourite things. I had a huge buffet breakfast and continued the tradition every morning I was here. The second day my mum had off work, we spent the day on Sentosa Island, a beach resort off the south east coast of Singapore. Two days without swimming in the sea proved ... read more

Singapore, though small perfectly formed. It most impressed upon my mind utill present. Three years ago, I went to Singapore with friends to do business investigation. By the way, I visit the Sentosa Island. It is a good place to recommend. There, we can visit the Insect Museum and among of all, butterfly samples were appealled to me. It's said Singapore Insect Museum is the largest one in Asia. Waxworks Museum displays series of the waxworks all different stages about Singapore History. From there, we can learn some the war history about the country. Music Conduit, Flame Mountain, Submarine World are situated in and near around Sentosa. So we could spend whole day time there if we would like. Another place is Little India. Along the Serangoon road to Little India, we could see a lot ... read more

Singapore Surprise! Atlast it happened! Our first abroad visit together..Me & Sonu! Its been five trips for me & one for her so far, but on none of them we were together. Its been our wish ever since to travel together on a foreign location & finally it worked out in Oct 2007.I was required to visit SIngapore for official visit.I decided to seize this oppourtunity & take Sonu along. This is what is known to outside world as telling them the truth could have caused some unnessesary discussion in family circles for both of us.And the truth was it was our first personal visit to a global location. We both used to read the ads by travel agencies operating in the city for many days. One fine day a package by Kuoni Travels caught our attention. We went ... read more

Rest day today, or so I thought. I planned on doing nothing but read a book by the pool. I was given a free pass to use the public transport system for 3 days, so I thought I would give it a burl. On the way to the bus stop, I found a bushwalk. Now I couldnt pass that up, so headed off. After half an hour I found myself at the monorail station, hopped on to see where it went. All roads (rail in this case) lead to shopping centres. Something they do right in my opinion - empty an international tourists wallet by giving them a free pass to get to shops. Poked around for a bit then headed back on the monorail to the Beach and walked along it til i was back ... read more

So this is where my 'listing by day' plan comes unstuck. Travelling so far east around the planet the whole time thing gets a little wobbly, and my body doesnt know whether its hungry, tired, hot or cold. A nice night in the Delmere in London and a good breakfast too. Rain stopped for a short while so decided to walk to Paddington station. It was less than quarter of the distance to walk than a black cab (one way streets). Todays travelling surpassed all other, everything fell together like kids jigsaw. I walked into Paddington station and found the sign to the Heathrow Express. Girl told me I had 2 mins to board - great timing (and if i missed it, another one left in 15 mins) Went to the front of the train, parked ... read more

Met up with the German girls from the tour for a day trip to Singapore’s Sentosa island, a reclaimed island built in the 60’s. I think its Singapore’s only decent beach as everyone advised us to visit it. We took the bottomless cable car across to the island. It was more expensive than the normal cable car by £1 and meant we didn’t have to queue. We sat on the man-made beach for a couple of hours in the sun. The water was so polluted I didn’t swim and the 19 oil tankers I counted in the close distance put me off a bit. The island was ok, don’t think I will pay it another visit though. That evening I met up with the other girls from the tour and the tour guide again (even though ... read more

Hiya - well this is what happened on day 2 in Singaporel. Decided to go to Sentosa Island with Saskia. After a great sleep - a full 9hours, even with the noisy air conditioning on and no black out blinds. See dad my tolerance levels are improving already ha ha!!! I skipped breakfast even though it was a complimentary breakfast and should cost $18 and stayed in bed. We had arranged to meet at 12.30 at the harbourfront food court as this is where Ray (one of the Americans) had told us to meet. I had no charger for my mobile (forgot it dohhhhh!!!) so we arranged just to meet there. You would think that was easy, well...........as there are lots of different exits from the trains she was in completely the wrong place and it ... read more

Photos were taken on the 26th of October 2007. We spent the day in Sentosa Island; we went to Underwater World. This aquarium seems better than the ones in Melbourne & Sydney. We also went to Dolphin Lagoon & watched the dolphin show. In the afternoon, we made our way back to the city & got ready for our trip to the Night Safari. Everything inside the zoo was expensive (no surprises there) so we decided not to eat there. We made our way to Lau Pa Sat by taxi & ate at one of the hawker stands. We also tried the carrot cake, no traces of carrots at all! Now let my photos do the talking.... read more
