This morning I'd planned to get up early to do the Batu caves at sunrise. I took it under advisement from the girls at reception that the best time to go was after 8.30am because the children would have got to school by then and the buses would be quiet. They joked that no-one had been at that time in the morning, but if I was to go then they wanted photos! So I settled for a later start and got the bus at 9.30am so i would miss the heat of the midday sun. The girls had been right, the bus was quiet, with no more than three or four people other than myself on the bus at any one time. The ride was interesting as the seat I'd chosen wasn't fully attached to the ... read more

Well good morning all. I Bet this surprises yáll. Due to the huge popularity of the travel blog, i have resurected and oldie, and will commence to blog again. Following the valiant effort of a recent USA Travbeller, A Mr A Spanner and family who produced what could only be called the Travel Blog of Travel Blogs, I feel the only way that I could take the challenge of blogging would not only this time will i try to upload photos, but I feel a video is forthcoming somthing that has yet to be done. Alas, I hear you say, not one of me and some trashy whore like those trashy celebrities that you find on the cheap websites, but a real travel video containing scenery and possible speaking and the like. Remember how good the ... read more

Kuala Lumpur Has Redeemed Itself Day two dawned in Kuala Lumpur with my alarm clock of clunking water pipes above my head at 8am... For the price I am paying here RM98 (Roughly $35AUD) a night, I don't think that the place is bad value at all... there was a little bit of noise late into the night with cars and people going past my bedroom window yelling etc, but I am used to living on a main road so it didnt really bother me.. I can see if you are a light sleeper that this room may do your head in... but for me, its fine.. I was glad that the pipes woke me as I didnt have an alarm set (no electricity converter so phone etc all getting low on battery). I got ... read more

St Kilda Festival & New Travel Buddies Well I have finally landed in Kuala Lumpur after a very long 24 hours... It started at 5.30am Sunday morning, when I was up getting ready for my 7.50am flight with Jetstar.. All was going very smoothly... I got to the airport with plenty of time, grabbed a Chai Latte and was relaxing at Gate 25 waiting for boarding at 7.20am.... At just after 7am I heard them call the flight.. Jetstar to Melbourne now boarding at Gate 25... I was thinking 'wow thats a little early' but threw out the rest of my Chai and got in line... I got to the gate, they scanned my ticket and as I put one foot down the ramp they suddenly went 'ummmm excuse me but you are on the ... read more

Going from the British winter to tropical Malaysia was always going to be a bit of a shock to the system, and sure enough the humidity and warmth was striking when I first stepped out of the airport. However, it wasn't as hot and sticky as perhaps I'd anticipated, and walking sometimes some substantial distances has been quite comfortable. Continuing with the story from my previous two posts of my arrival in KL city from the airport and time spent trying to find the monorail station, I arrived at the station closest to the guesthouse I'd booked 3 nights at a few weeks ago, the Irsia B&B guesthouse by 9pm, checked in and went up to my basic but clean and neat room on the first floor. Had a quick shower then went out looking for ... read more

“Eat like a prince, travel like a pauper!” Well, at least when you are in Malaysia. There is so much to eat, and so much to see in the KL. So, to get its full flavor (pun intended!) eat and travel like there is no tomorrow! Food is cheap. A lunch or dinner (for almost two people..I eat a lot) costs no more than RM15 and that is with the drinks. That is £3-£4. Now beat that. Anyways, I will blog on the food itself some other day. Travel like a pauper? Well take the public transport and walk as much as possible. This will give you more time to enjoy the view. In the past couple of days I have been busy “Hopping on hopping off!” No not exercising silly, I went on a KL ... read more

It’s only been three days of my travel, and it already feels like I was born to travel…and write (to a lesser extent). I knew I should have done a photo travel journalism or fashion design/photographer as my major. But hell, I now travel to see the client, work late hours and charge by the hour for my services. Well, let’s leave it at that, shall we? My venture to discover Malaysia still continues. I am not entirely sure what lies ahead in this wonderful travel I am undertaking. Thailand was in the pipeline, then Indonesia. However, both got scrapped. Now, KK plans a visit to Sri Lanka, his homeland. I don’t mind, as long as the price is right. Anyways, one of the things I wanted to do was to visit all the SAARC (South ... read more
