Phew... That was a long flight. We started from Calgary at 6:30 am on Friday and got to Ipoh Malaysia at 9pm on Sunday. We are happy that all the bags arrived with us. All family is waiting for us at the parents' house. The first thing we do is go and get some food. Inga is happy to get Ikan Baka. Ikan Baka is a grilled fish with spices. Stingray. David gets his curry noodle soup and we all share chicken sate. Inga decides (again) that she could live in Malaysia just for food. We sleep through the night and decide that the time difference is not that bad. We should thank Japan Airlines as we got to spend a night in Narita (Japan). 18 to 19 November We had a lot of time left and not much more of Malaysia to see before we could enter Thailand (stupid visa rules). We never planned to go to Pangkor, but after reading in the Lonely Planet that the government was promoting it as one of the country's top destinations, we thought a few days on a beach wasn't a bad idea indeed. To get there we had to take two buses and then a ferry (not a problem after the trip to the Cameron Highlands!). Once again we had not booked anywhere to stay. The taxi dropped us on the 'budget' beach and off we set walking up and down looking for a place to stay. Nous avons fait la grace matine. Rejean aussi, surprenant. La plage, lecture, enfin une journee relaxante. Moi j'ai fait du kayak de mer avec notre ami suissesse. Juste un mauvais depart. Nous avons foncer dans un autre bateau. Peut-etre que c'etait lui le fautif. Lui partie nous avions juste comme obstacle une grosse ile. Nous avons foncer dedans et avons fait une bonne baignade. C'etait super le fun. Nous avons acheter deux poisson, un red snaper et knog (????????????? en francais). On a partager notre repas avec notre amie suisse et 2 chats qui ont tres aprecier les tetes de poissons, tres bon tout les deux. Puis nous avons rester sur la plage le soir. Premierement nous sommes aller a Kuala Kangsar. Nous avons rate l'autobus . Tres difficille de savoir pourquoi. On a cru comprendre que la compagnie d'autobus etait sans permis legal, enfin quelques chose comme ca. Finalement on a pu en prendre une autre. Elle etait pas mal maganee celle-la. Surement fait dans les annee 50. En plus nous avons fait une vraie parcourt de laitier. Mais on a bien aime pareille, on a visiter d'autre ville. Nous sommes arrive apres 1:30 heures pour 46 km. After another stupidly uncomfortable night outside KL's low cost carrier terminal we peeled ourselves from the benches and hopped on a few buses. Our next destination (and last main stay in Malaysia) was the small friendly island of Palau Pangkor......A place where the locals go for the weekend or a well deserved break! I was starting to regret not straying from the main tourist trail in Malaysia and so was really pleased when we arrived here to find locals on holiday with only a very few foreigners to be found. We managed to find a lovely little cluster of "Chalets" at a reasonable price, and I was really excited when the owner led us to ours, which resembled a dolls house - See pic!!
