October 10th - 23rd I'm getting fancy with the titles :-) I thought adding the date would be helpful since I'm finally bloging this a month and a half later! We are combining the blog entries for the sixth and seventh weeks because not a whole lot happened to warrant separate entries. The highlights of week six were my IWA meeting and a rafting trip we took with Phil’s coworkers. The meeting was interesting because our guest speaker was Penang’s chief of police. He presented some information on crimes that are of interest to women (purse snatching, rape, etc.) and compared them to previous years in Penang and to the other states of Malaysia. Well,... the excitement in the Cameron Highlands wasn't quite over when I’d updated you last... I went to the internet cafe again that day to talk to mum on-line (Hi mum!) and who should I happen to sit down next to but Sian... a fellow University of Manchester law grad... it's a small world! Anyway, we spent some time catching up and then I met her and her friend Nic again later on for a couple of drinks and something to eat... well, a 'Steamboat' actually. It’s this big pot of soup that simmers over a gas stove at your table and you get presented with a load of raw meat, fish and veg, and you get to throw it all into the soup and it cooks... and tastes delicous!!! ok i'm keeping this short as i can't face writing my biography. so ileft bangkok on monday after two wet days in krabi, great town just not much to in the rain, so i jumped on a mini bus for an eight hour drive south of the border to penang, george town which is probably one of my favorite places on the trip, I met a german girl on the bus so i've had someone to hang out with, we went up to penang hill to take it the views of the island and ate some amazing indian food, the streets there are really old colonial buildsings some in worst shape than others but the character is falling off them.
