We had breakfast at Snow Lion because the Oogo's wasn’t opened yet. The banana pancake that I ordered came so late that Elena had to leave before my order even came. After breakfast, I went to LHA to meet Rabsel while Elena went back to hotel room to meet the nun for the conversation class. They’ve fixed the meeting time to be morning. Rabsel brought me to Men Tsee Kang clinic near the main street. It was a pretty busy clinic. The doctor didn’t speak much English, thus Rabsel had to be translator. The doctor and rabsel agreed that my anxiety and insomnia were due to the strong medicine from Delek Hospital. Thus this doctor asked me to stop taking Delek Hospital’s medicine, he gave me traditional medicine instead. It cost me Rs 280 for consultation ... read more

We went to have breakfast at Oogo's again for waffles again. After breakfast, I set off to Tushita Meditation Center for meditation session while Elena went to LHA to meet the nun she’s supposed to have conversation session with. Tushita center is located high on the hill at Tushita Road. It took me almost 30 minutes to climb up from the bottom. The room was surprisingly packed. It was an hour session from 9.15 to 10.15 including Q&A session. The guide was a male (I found out from Neil that he’s from Netherlands on day 15). After the session, I went back hotel to rest before going to LHA to meet Elena for lunch. We had lunch at Jimmy’s Italian Kitchen. I had yummy tomato pasta and she had baked potato. After lunch, I went to ... read more

We had breakfast at Oogo's again and had waffles again. After that we walked around Bhagsu Road and eventually went to Nick’s for lunch and internet. After that, we walked to Bhagsunag waterfall, but decided to come back next time because we are bringing laptops and wearing flip flops. We planned to go back with shoes and bringing only water and camera. Then we went back hotel to rest. I accidentally spilled water onto my bag because I didn’t close the bottle cap properly, thus my laptop charger was spoiled and I had to get a new one soon.... read more

I woke up with very painful stomach in the morning. After vomiting and having diarrhea, I went to find doctors nearby but none was open early in the morning. So I went for my breakfast at Asian Plaza Terrace Restaurant and took Chinese diarrhea medicine before going to LHA to meet Rabsel and Elena for the tour (included in Orientation package by LHA). At 9 we started our tour in a cab. We visited CTA Central Tibetan Administration (used to be known as Tibetan Government in Exile). Then we went to Dharamsala and Dalai Lama's Summer Palace. The tour finished around 12, we went back to McLeod Ganj for lunch at Nick’s Italian Restaurant. After the lunch, my stomach pain was unbearable, so Rabsel brought us to Tibetan Delek Hospital near CTA. There, the doctor who ... read more

We went back to Snow Lion for its breakfast. After that, we took cab from Main Street to TCV(Tibetan Children's Village) to attend Dalai Lama’s teaching. We stood by the road to greet Dalai Lama who came in a car with a few security guards. The teaching was conducted in Tibetan language and there is English translation on the radio, thus foreigners need to listen to radio to listen to the teaching. We are not aware of this radio thingy, thus we didn’t bring any radio. Luckily there was a lady we met the day before, she offered us a radio to listen to. We were so lucky. But as the time passed by, I couldn’t bear the pain in my stomach, I thought it was a gastric. Hence I went back to McLeod Ganj alone ... read more

We had breakfast at 8.30 because we were supposed to meet Rabsel at 9.30 for introduction of the programme and the city. I had banana crepe at Café Budan, and Elena had toast. It's not bad, but the price was comparable to Singapore. Afterwards we met Rabsel, he brought us around and paid for our iced tea with lemon. It’s quite different from ice lemon tea in southeast asia because it was blended and the color was yellow. Couldn’t remember the name of the café. Then we parted ways with Rabsel and we went to Snow Lion for lunch. I had fried cheese vegetable momo (momo is a Tibetan cuisine) and mushroom soup (which is a thickened soup with a few slices of mushroom, not mushroom cream soup), while she had Chowmein (fried noodle with vegetables). ... read more

Got up about 5:45am and after packing went to Jallianwala Bagh at about 8:00am and returned and had Breakfast at 9. Then packed the balance and checked out of the hotel and started the ride from Amritsar at 10:00am. Reached Pathankotat 1;45pm via Batala, Gurudaspur and had lunch at a Dhaba just after crossing the state border to Himachal Pradesh. Left the dhaba at 3pm. At the dhaba met an army officer who told us not to miss Dalhousie, Khajiara and Chamba. He also told us that from Dalhousie we could directly go to Udhampur via Ranjit sagar dam and the road was good. Then reached dharmshala by about 5:15pm. Then went to Mcleod Gunj which was where our hotel Ekant Lodge was located and checked in by about 6pm. When we saw the map we ... read more

Everything is possible in India.....Sab Kuch Milega. You'll find it on t-shirts all over the country and whenever you ask a local a question they reply with those 3 words. You can go anywhere, eat anything and encounter every experience possible in India. I've been welcomed into locals' homes and slept on the floor of hotel lobbies; I've eaten street food wrapped in newspapers and dined at overpriced 5-star restaurants; I've hung out with wild monkeys, cuddled with stray dogs and squished with 8 people on a 3-person seat on a 5 hour train; I've climbed Himalayan mountains in flip flops and swam in holy water; I studied yoga, reiki, meditation, Buddhism, Hinduism, Ayurvedic medicine and Indian cooking...all with a tiny backpack and an even smaller budget! Unfortunately the one inevitable that India can't change is ... read more

We flew from the IT city of Bangalore, Alice had the bad luck to come down with food poisoning mere hours before we started the all day taxi-flight-wait-flight-taxi. The flight itself was fortunately pretty uneventful and after a very long day we got to the town of Amristar. Amritsar is the most holy place in the world for Sikhs and contains the famous golden temple (you can see the photos on the facebook album). It was very unfortunate that Alice was recooperating at the same time as getting out as much as possible in order to see the temple. We met a man from Delhi who decided that the best way he could volunteer was to act as a guide to western tourists. So we were lucky enough to be shown around the workings of the ... read more

Hariyom....I still don't know exactly what that means, but people say it as a greeting here, so...Hariyom. I think last time I left you at Goa. From there I started my travels in the north of India. I thought that meant it would cool down but i am still sweating! I visited only one major city in Rajasthan because i had visited all the rest on my last trip. After being in the south in relatively small cities, it was quite a shock to suddenly be in a big, crazy, dirty, chaotic place. there were so many tourists and so many locals roaming the streets. But there are even more shops so the owners bombard every tourist they see to get some business. They say its better to travel in low season.....but here it's actually worse. ... read more
