Just spent my 21st and Christmas in Palolem beach in Goa. Its absolutely fabulous here, well worth the agonising 30 hours of trains, planes, jeeps and rickshaws that it took to get here. We're staying in cute little beach huts right on the beach and wake up the sound of the ocean each morning. The weather here is tropical and warm. A complete contrast from the freezing cold we just left. We welcomed in Christmas day and my birthday with fireworks on the beach, a bottle of wine and a semi- melted ice-cream cake with a single candle that the guy running the beach huts thoughtfully brought out for me at midnight. Yesterday we woke up and enjoyed a run on the beach and a quick dip in the ocean before having a huge breakfast at ... read more

I had a bad day and so I called for help from my best friends here in India. I think it’s interesting to exchange opinions, reflexions and thoughts with people from different countries, languages and experiences. I wrote about that day. Siddharth (a young Indian guy, very nice and very clever. He is interested in discovering the world and learning from each moment of life) and Paul (an Australian guy, young is not the word but I can say very active, who has been living in India since March 2010, and who has travelled a lot around India during his life) gave me some feedback. I think both know me quite well. So, here is what I wrote and their comments: "Today it was a bad day. I woke up very happy, optimistic with a lot ... read more

I made it to Madgaon Station in Goa at 5:30am on the 7th. I was very lucky to get off the train at the right station. The train had left Pune about forty five minutes late, and in my experience of trains here never making time up once they start getting behind schedule, I'd been thankful of the chance to get more sleep and set my alarm for 6am. For some reason I eventually thought better of it and set my alarm for 5:15, which turned out to be just as well, as the train actually pulled into Goa ten minutes early. I decided to spend a day in Benaulim as it was near the train station. Benaulim was very relaxed and nice enough, although it didn't have much in the way of scenery and had ... read more

It's probably deeply uncool now to say that you like Goa. But I don't care. After all, where else in India can you get a Death by Bongo cocktail for about a pound? Palolem, a beach in the far south of the state, was rebuilding itself for a new season last weekend, and there were lots of tarpaulins (aka 'Mumbai Blue') draped over shacks painted in tourist-brochure colours. I don't know whether this frenzy of construction was due to the monsoon or to the periodic enforcement of planning laws I read about. But it was probably a perfect time to visit. We landed on Friday night during a heavy downpour and with visibility at 800m. Driving south from the airport it appeared that the fields were all flooded. In the morning light they reappeared as rice ... read more

1. I may have rambled about it to you before Jenna and i left but one of my life goals was to eat raw cashew fruit fresh off the tree. Well yesterday on a stroll to a beach just south of where we are staying we walked under a tree that we realized was a cashew tree and it had ripe fruit on it! It was a goal of mine because the fruit spoils a day or less after being picked and it can only be consumed directly off the tree. Because of this most cashew fruit is turned into alcohol called Feni. Feni ain't so great and neither is fresh cashew fruit but it a was a goal I set and I achieved it! 2. I mentioned the pigs that lived around our guesthouse in ... read more

Jenna and i have decided that India is a very silly place. Not in a bad way and for no single reason; just in general... a very very silly place. There ARE rules here and laws and social conventions that are all very strict in title. There are simply too many people here to ever fully enforce anything. It is sort of beautiful but is as also sort of annoying at times. One case is that homosexuality is strictly illegal here but on the flip side it is highly common for men to walk around holding hands and showing various forms of physical affection. These are practices that would set off the gay-dar of anyone in the west but here its common place and not considered "homo" at all. Another case is traffic. Penalties for law ... read more

Hello ladies and fellow penis owners (F.P.O's) Quite alot has happened since I've been on last, I DID get really I'll as some of you are already aware and I probably DID deserve that too. I wont go into too much detail but put it this way, ''I Elliott Mills will never eat chicken again until I get back to the UK''. I reinvented shitpissing. For 4 days. That is all I have to say about that. We've spent the last week or so in Goa, North around Anjuna was nice, quite refreshing to see some fellow Westerners about. They are all moody as f*ck though. It seems everyone does keep themselves to themselves out here. We're now in Palolem which is a REALLY cool place. Nice beach, we've been Kayaking, Surfing, eating all kinds of ... read more

1/3/10: We woke up with the sound of beating drums outside our paper thin bungalow walls. The festival went on all night resulting in a lot of drunken and stoned Indians that were covered from head to toe in coloured oxide to celebrate the colour festival, even the dogs and cows couldn’t escape from the colour. I was lucky enough to crawl out of bed and witness the festival turn up on the beach for the last and final hurrah. With hundreds of Indians meeting on the beach they all ran down to meet the Arabian Sea and tried to wash oxide from their skin and clothes. It was quiet funny to watch as and even the older men were acting like children giggling and laughing as they played in the waves and rolled in the ... read more

28/2/10: Today was different. We hired a Bajaj Avenger motorbike which looks like a cruiser bike. It was very gutless but it was so much nicer than the other bikes we had hired. We agreed to meet a guy between 9 and 9:30am with a bike and when there was no sign of him buy 9:15 I knew it wasn’t going to happen. I gave him a ring and ended up waking him up, his answer was he would be there in 10 min so we waited 10min and then hired another bike from someone else. It ended up working out in the end but we had to wait 20min for two helmets to turn up as they don’t wear them over here. The helmets turned up and we were off riding down the Goa coastline ... read more
