My Motor Home project started with an idea as I was approaching retirement, as a way of seeing particually those parts of Australia I have not seen to date. After much research I decided to use a motor home rather than a caravan to accomplish my goals. I selected a Toyota Coaster bus, late in 2009, recently brought in from Japan, approx 24 seater, 7 metre long, and brought it to be gutted and refitted as a motor home by a firm called First Choice Motor Homes based in Burleigh Heads, Qld. The technical details for the bus are, 1987 model, auto, diesel, turbo, de luxe version with double fuel tanks (150 litre capacity), and just over 90,000 kms travelled. The completed outfitting includes, 2 single beds, either side at the rear with a removeable table ... read more

Day 8 We ended up going to a few pawn shops today, Sean is on the hunt for a guitar. And actually ended up buying a new one since it was cheaper than anything we had found at a pawn shop. So with more luggage to haul around now were gonna have a packed truck. LOL. We lucked out and the night before were able to buy tickets to the footy game for 30 bucks for 2, so that was awesome. We bought 4 more tickets and headed out to the game with a few extras tagging along. What a great game. NRL, hard hits and constant action for the whole half. Way better than football back home. It was the Titans vs Dragons and we left when the Titans were losing 18-0 so we could ... read more

Day 6 Another easy going day, starting off with another swim. Bad rips again, at knee deep on the sand bar you can feel them trying to rip you off your feet, so it’s back to the baby pool for us. LOL. But we are the only people on the beach again. I guess at 8am not everyone is up. We are still waking up at 6am daily. Maybe 7 if we really try. At least we are making use of everyday to its fullest potential. We decided to go for a walk along the beach, starting in mermaid beach we walked about a km to end up at the pub, what a convenience, Joel met us here after he finished shopping, as that was the reason we walked into town to. We went shopping for ... read more

Sorry it's been so long since my last blog but despite a wonderful effort by the glorious Palazzo Versace there were a few boo boos on the big night where I was to be auctioned and sadly it all didn't happen. I'm now back home with Auntie Lynn and waiting to find out where I'll be shipped to next. I guess it's nice to have a bit of a rest after all my travelling, but I really want to find a permanent home now and look forward to reporting in when I have some exciting news to share with you.... read more

Getting near to the end of our holiday ....aaaaw, don't want to go back to work etc. just yet! However, today is a good day ...off to Movieworld! Today Bruce picked us up and were there when the gates opened at 10am. The first thing you see when you enter under the archway is Batwing ..kinda reverse of the Giant Drop. You sit in seats at the bottom of the tower (not as high as Giant Drop) and 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 .....UUUUUPPPP you go whoooooosh! Wow, I can cope with that, kinda scary (scream every time lol), but fun and on the way down you get kinda bounced down in stages. I then got persuaded to go on the Superman ride ....I saw the track so I really don't know why I was persuaded, ... read more

Another theme park to visit today ....Seaworld. I think this was the 'tamest' of the three we visited! We used the local public transport again ...very clean, timely service. Met up with Bruce at Seaworld ..he has a ticket where he can go as many times as he likes in a year ...fun! Lots of sealife (surprisingly enough!)...watched a seal show, saw sharks and cute polar bears, even touched stingrays (except they didn't sting)...the rays felt soft and squishy but not slimey...quite surprising. The boys rode the rides today...roller coaster, jetski ride but not me today...I was content to watch and be the person who held all the belongings while they went on the rides! A nice park but nowhere near as thrilling as Dreamworld. Left around 4pm with only a short bus ride back to ... read more

Well, after a wonderful day at Dreamworld yesterday, it was time to relax a little. Just a spot of retail therapy at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, followed by lunch back at the apartment, a dip in the rooftop pool, reading books.....aaaaah! Bruce came over and we headed over to the nearby park where we watched the resident flying fox colony awaken after a hard day's sleeping. Lots of noise, pungent odour and yeah ....dodging of poops!! Tonight was the one and only dinner cooked at the apartment ...yummmm! An evening soak in the spa with Bruce leaving at 8.30pm as his work means he has to awaken at 4.30am! ... read more

Well wadaya know, annnnother sunny day! Used the wonderful public transport system to get to Dreamworld....very easy AUS$8.30 return each. Had an awesum day ....log flume rapids....got soaked, Tower of Terror ...terrorised, James went on the Claw and Wipeout countless times and the piece de la resistance ....we braved the Giant Drop (yes, I have photographic evidence!)....what can I say except SH*****T (sorry for the bad word ...which is what I said allllll the way down. For anyone who does not know what the Giant Drop is, just google it! You sit in a nice, comfy seat along with 7 other suckers and then you are propelled slowly up the side of a very high tower kinda like an open air lift and then you stop right at the top with the wind whistling around you....for ... read more
