Oops, been a while since I updated on here. I think the last time I wrote I was n the Gold Coast about to head down to Yamba... We spent a week down in the sleepy coastal town of Yamba, visiting the many beaches, walking lots and lots, eating fresh fish in all the fish restaurants, travelling over to Iluka on the ferry (sitting on the top deck with no suncream on - bad idea), drinking in the Yamba Golf Club... the sun finally came out for us on our first day there and we had an awesome few days chilling and playing in the waves. After our week in Yamba, as fun as it was, we were ready for the 'buzz of the city' again and headed back up to the Gold Coast, not without ... read more

Not really much to say today as today was spent travelling. We left the hotel in Sydney at 9:45 and headed to Sydney airport for the flight to Brisbane airport. Once we arrived at Brisbane we collected the hire car and then drove down to the Gold Coast. We arrived and only had time to collect a few supplies from the local supermarket. ... read more

Wow, it's overwhelming to think that in a mere 72 hours I will be claiming my baggage in the airport in Ohio! It seems like this last month or so has been a whirlwind and I must say I haven't done that well on journaling all the things I have been up to. Since my last post I have been pretty busy, going on adventures, even if small ones, pretty much weekly. The jist: climbed Mt. Warning and Mt. Tibrogargan of the Glasshouse Mountains, spent a UD wknd in Brisbane, ventured to Pt. Lookout at Stradbroke Island, went to Toowoomba and stayed with Alex's family for Easter, went to Easterfest, and spent a day in Byron Bay. And I had a fantabulous time at all but am excited to be coming home. Now the longer version ... read more

Time for an update, I suppose! Much has happened since my last entry so I guess I will just fill you in on more of the exciting things that I have done/seen/learned. SCHOOL is going extremely well. As of now I am doing fine in all my classes and am set to pass them (woohoo!). I have had some pretty large papers to write, a few presentations, and tests but nothing that I couldn't handle. And I actually did surprisingly well on my zombie paper fyi. haha FRIENDS- are wonderful. I have a group that I mainly hang out with on campus and a group that live out at Broadbeach with me. And I have even met some good Aussie friends! haha. We get together often whether it is to hang at the beach, play a ... read more

Alrighty!!! So it's been a while, eh? I keep telling myself I am going to write an update and never do. So now I am. It is currently 8 am on Wed morning and I am sitting in my living room right now due to the fact that I missed the 7:35 bus to get to my 8 am class. Nice. It's ok though, b/c its only tutorial (when they go more in depth into the lecture notes) and only 1 hr long. Also, I have some friends in the other tutorial that I can get notes from. So that is why I am finally stopping to write this. I can't really remember what I wrote about last, days seem to be flying together here. There are many times where I still can't believe I am ... read more

G'day mates! I hope you all have had a nice week, full of fun and surprises. :) Alright, so I just finished my first week as an official Bond University student. Last week was definitely an adjustment, as I didn't really know anyone yet and I was still really missing the comforts of home. Slowly and surely though, I am "realizing where my feet are" here in Australia. It is a beautiful country, full of friendly people ready to share with you stories of their adventures in this country and abroad. I have had a chance to meet some Aussies outside of bars/restaurants etc that I can actually build a relationship on, but much of my school is American. This is because Bond University is the only school in Australia that mirrors US school semesters. Therefore, ... read more

Hello everyone from Gold Coast, Australia. I'm writing this as I sit in my living room of my apartment on the 12th floor of Meriton Hotel. My classes do not start until Monday, the 19th, so today my time was spent at the beach. But we need to travel back in time to last week in Sydney! I have so much to tell you. Let's see... Here is the short version of what I did: Monday- left USA Wednesday- arrived in Sydney, met everyone, got our awesome rooms, went to dinner and ate kangaroo, walked around Darling Harbour, saw street performers, fell asleep before 10 pm due to jet lag haha Thursday- went to the Blue Mountains to repel at 6 in the morning until 5pm, went out at night to the local bars Friday- walking ... read more

Hello Everyone! Angela here. I figured I would do a blog now b/c that way if ppl don't want to read it, they won't have to and I can put up pics. So I figured out that everyone was not on my original email list, so here is the original email I sent. I apologize! Greetings from Sydney!! I'm alive! :) I am emailing you all from Everywhere Internet in Sydney. So it is currently Wed. Jan. 7th at 11:30 am here. It's crazy, I've finally made it. I seriously don't know what to think right now. There is just so much to do and see, I don't know where to start! The city is huge, with so many people around! I guess it doesn't help having just had a long flight. But the flight actually ... read more

We thought the sun had forsaken us when we flew into Brisbane, Queensland (the sunshine state) as we arrived just as a storm started. The storm closed the ground side of the airport and prevented our luggage being taken to the baggage hall. Two hours later, we (and our luggage) were on our way, driving up into the heart of the Sunshine Coast - hurrah the sun was back!! With temperatures slightly less than we had become accustomed to after Fiji, only 29-32 degrees rather than 35+, we arrived in Hervey Bay apparently known as the whale watching capital of the world. Before meeting the whales, we spent a day on Fraser Island, which as with most parts of Australia, was discovered by Capt James Cook. Fraser is the world’s largest sand island with no roads ... read more
