I was put in a dark box! I didn't like it much. Today I left my home but no one told me where I was going. I was very excited to have started my travels, and I knew it was all for a good cause, but it was a bit scary being put in the dark and thrown into the back of an aircraft. But never mind because soon I know I'll be arriving in an exciting new city to meet my very first STAR WITH HEART to help special children everywhere. I wonder who it will be! ... read more

A quick xmas update from the comfort of our room in the Sofitel. We have been in Broadbeach for a couple of days now and have enjoyed the luxury lifestyle. The cocktails have gone down well in the evenings and we are stuffed full of good food. The Sofitel is not very Christmassy. No tree, decorations or festive music. They even ran out of turkey at Christmas dinner! However we have had a great time and have eaten and drunk plenty, making the most of the all you can eat/drink Christmas buffet, Aussie Christmas fare consisting of Seafood (Lobster, Oysters, Prawns, Mussles, Squid, Crab and Moreton Bay Bugs), tradtional roast (beef, pork, ham, fish, chicken, no turkey) and numerous desserts (inluding a gingerbread house with no rats). There were however crackers on the tables (the Aussies ... read more

It's been a while since my last entry to the blog! So this might get boring, since there has happened quite a bit.. Us both, Carolina & I, quit work three weeks ago. We wanted to have a tiny bit of time here on the Gold Coast to actually do some "tourist" stuff before we start travelling. Well, pretty much all we've done is gone to the beach and had long walks and just enjoyed our days off. I went down to Sydney to play floorball and more of that later. Then it was time for the long awaited Indy week. For those of you, who dont know what Indy is, I'll do my best to explain. Champ cars are the american version of Formula 1. They go faster than the formulas but are less advanced ... read more

G'day all! Well it's official now since of last Saturday. Its summer. It said on the papers that when spring school holidays start it means Summer starts on the Gold Coast. Yippee! It certainly feels like it! We have had wonderful weather here for a while and boy are we enjoying it! Carolina doesnt start work till 3 or 4pm so we just spend the time before that on the beach. If Mitch isnt working he joins us. Cool, ha? We finally walked to the other way from our flat yesturday. There's a park full of trees and birds over there. We usually just go the other way, to the beach. We found out there wasnt much birds, but bats, and a whole lot of them. Actually it was colony of bats. It was pretty cool ... read more

Hey folks, Greetings to all again! What's happened since last.. We've had a couple of big nights out and enjoyd our time. We dont have too many days off during the week and Sunday is the only day we have off both. We spend that day usually going to Brisbane and go to this gym complex, I playing floorball and Carolina going to the gym. Talking of floorball I am going to an tournament in Sydney with the Brisbane team a week before Indy comes to the Gold Coast(18-21.10). That'll be cool!! We've also been constantly looking for a car to buy. Now we've decided on going to Cairns on a rental car and buying a car up there. The staff at the hostels in Brisbane told that the best deals are in Darwin and Cairns ... read more

Yeah, I got to know the GCH, otherwise known as the Gold Coast Hospital. They had been on the news a lot with not having enough space or staff and beeing too full the whole time. Oh boy did I experience all that! I had this pain growing in my lower back which I tried to kill of with pain killers. Didnt really work and after I didnt sleep on Sat night I decided to go seek help. It turned out to be an infection that needed surgery. So after waiting to see the Doctor for 5 hours I had to wait for the Surgeon for 3hours. Then it was to the operating room and then it was done. I spent the night in the hospital and the following day. When I got home the pain ... read more

I cant what I wrote about in my last entry here, because of the crash the Travelblog.org had a couple weeks ago. Fortunately they found most of the lost entries. Not much has happened since the last entry but we have had a lot of fun with our new flatmate Mitchell. As I probably told you earlier, we live in Broadbeach and are enjoying it. We are 2 blocks from the beach, 2 blocks from the closest cafe and a 10 minute walk from a Broadbeach mall with supermarkets. I think the most important thing about our new home is our wicked flatmate! I have to tell you, I only know one bloke like Mitch with crazy ideas what to do, what to wear, what to say and whatever. I love the idea of never going ... read more
