Edit Blog Post
It's been a while since my last entry to the blog! So this might get boring, since there has happened quite a bit..
Us both, Carolina & I, quit work three weeks ago. We wanted to have a tiny bit of time here on the Gold Coast to actually do some "tourist" stuff before we start travelling. Well, pretty much all we've done is gone to the beach and had long walks and just enjoyed our days off. I went down to Sydney to play floorball and more of that later. Then it was time for the long awaited Indy week. For those of you, who dont know what Indy is, I'll do my best to explain. Champ cars are the american version of Formula 1. They go faster than the formulas but are less advanced in technology. They also had a lot of other types of cars racing there, such as V8 Supercars, which are Fords and Holdens racing each other. They are extremely popular here in Australia and for most aussies this was the main event. For us, the Champ cars were the most exciting. But more of that later as well. Also Carolina's sister Heidi arrived on
Me and Gulle,
From the balcony of the apartment where we were watching the indy from. Indy sunday we've had her for company the last couple of days and we'll do some traveling with her the next 2 weeks.
Ive been playing floorball with this group in Brisbane, Story Bridge Devils, since June and we went to a tournament in North Sydney, the Northern beaches open. I flew to Sydney on Thu, 12/10, two days before the tournament to do some sightseeing with Calle(teammate) and Amy and their friend Joakim who lives in Sydney. It was quite fun, 'cause he knew a lot of places to go such as an awesome restaurant in Bondi! I stayd the first 2 nights in a hostel in Kings Cross and got to know the area where we will spend New Year's. Hmm, it was a bit dodgy, but alright and I bet the party will go on really well 😊
Early Saturday we went to North Sydney to the tournament venue and that was our "home" for the entire day! We knew our team was good enough to get far in the tournament and if we did well, we would play 5 games in less then 7hours. Well, as it turned out, we did do quite well and
did make the final. We won the semifinal 5-4 and did very well in the final too. We played Northern Beaches Stingrays which were very determined to win their own tournament. We led 3-1 in the second period and were doing really well. Everybody had the last group game against them, which we lost 9-4, very well in mind and we didnt want to give them the chance. Unfortunately we lost momentum and they scored the next 5 goals. We got one back, but it was too late and we lost the Final 6-4. All that work for nothing actually, but I guess we were pretty proud of ourselves and we all had a lot of the entire day. Unfortunately everyone was SOO exhausted from all the games that we were far too tired to party or do anything. Had a couple of beers at the hotel with rest of the guys and hit the sack early and had great nights sleep 😊 The next couple of days was pretty much a struggle with all the muscle ache. I couldnt walk for two days, it hurt too much.
Then came Indy... We had a lot of fun the entire
week. On Wednesday we went to town to see Miss Indy girls play some beachvolley 😉 They were quite "talented"! In the evening we went to The Bedroom(nightclub in Surfers) to see Lingerie Model Grand final. Yeah, they were pretty "talented" too 😉 Later on we moved on to Melbas and eventually we actually had quite a night out... On Thursday we went to the Casino to see some Stand-up comedy and later on we went to Howl At The Moon club in Broadbeach. On Friday we had a "party" at home and got hammered... Tickets to Indy were really expensive, so we only got a weekend pass. We have to thank our friend Sherome for giving one pass to our use. We got to go see the races to our friends apartment on the track which was pretty damn cool. We were right on the track on the 12th floor. You could see, hear and feel the cars from the apartment. By the end of Saturday we realised Indy was about Cars, Drinking, Girls without tops and Cars! 😊 After the ontrack entertainment we went to a party in Broadbeach and had a big night out. We had a
blast and Mitch was hilarious the entire evening! At the end of the night all shit hit the fan and Carolina hurt her knee. I carried her to the bus and from the bus to home. No good we thought. Sunday morning she went to the doctor and was declared ok. Just take it easy for a while and use crutches. Yeah, that'll make life easy in the Indy track. You can imagine Heidi's expression when I told her what had happened when I picked her up at the bus stop. Otherwise Sunday was the same as Saturday at the track, but we were far too tired to go out at night. We really wanted to watch the Formula 1 at 3am, we just lacked the energy to stay up or wake up..... But Kimi Raikkonen won the Championship! How cool is That!!!!
The last days we've done some sightseeing with Heidi and enjoyd the sunshine. Tomorrow we are having our farewell party for our friends here in Gold Coast. It'll be fun and hopefully we will survive and next week on the schedule will be Rainbow beach, Fraser island, Noosa Heads, Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo and Brisbane. Then
Heidi will fly back home to Finland and we start driving to Cairns to meet Ruth Ann and Bill.
Love ya, Jani & Carolina
