THE GREAT AMERICAN ADVENTURE HIKING THE GRAND CANYON Early the next morning we said farewell to the colourful New Mexico and crossed the border to mountainous Colorado and a little town called Pagosa Springs on the San Juan River for a soak in the healing mineral springs. Pagosa Springs was discover centuries ago by the Native American Indians and is considered sacred ground. An afternoon of soaking in the pools certainly made us feel good - we kept wishing we could take them to the Grand Canyon with us. From here we headed to Durango to take a ride back through time on a coal fired historic Steam locomotive - we travelled in the open carriage gondola for 41 miles and 2768 feet climb from Durango to Silverton - to say it was cold would be ... read more

Hi family and friends! Today is Oct. 18, 2007. Patty and I are in an awesome RV resort (check it out Beckie & Gary: www.normandyfarms.com ) near Boston. We left FL on Sept. 30 and blasted up thru WV and eastern PA then headed east into CT. from there went up into the white mtns. of Northern New Hampshire for 3 days. That was a nice area where we did some hiking and leaf peeping. Then we headed Northeast into Maine where we stayed for a week at Acadia National Park. Acadia is an awesome park and it was neat to have a week to check it out. The weather has been surprisingly mild and sunny for the most part. And of course we had plenty of Lobs-tah and Chow-dah! We also met up with old ... read more

Afternoon everybody! Today is the fourth and final day of my training at Disney University on how to be a good checker-inner. Last year I thought there was a lot to remember being a vacation planner (fact fans: did you know there are over 100 different ticket combinations available at Walt Disney World?)...it turns out that there's even more when you are on the front desk! You need to know about ticketing AND check-in, check-out, in-house procedures, groups, retail packages, wholesale packages, blah blah blah....AND, do all this while remembering to say 'assist' instead of 'help' and call them 'guests', NOT customers. No wonder I am so exhausted at the moment, my brain is being overloaded with information! My friend who I lived with last year was training me for the first couple of days which ... read more

Primera parada: Los Angeles. First stop: Los Angeles. We are so lucky to have such a generous friend offering us to stay at her place in the mountains of Pasadena. We were planning to stay longer in the Guadalupe Mountains but extremely high winds, with gusts up to 70 MPH (thats 112 kilometers per hour) made us decide to move on. We head to Roswell NM for the night. In the morning we check out the Roswell UFO museum. It is dedicated to information about the "Roswell Incident" in teh 1940's in which a UFO crashed in the desert near Roswell & the incedent was covered up by the US government. It was fun to see some of the people in the Museum. Some were WAY INTO IT. I think that for some people, belief in UFO's is a way of feeling connected to life in the universe. That's a good thing. For myself, I don't think that either a visit from Life from Space, or ... read more

Traveling PlansI have left my job and moved out of my apartment to travel. My first destination is the East Coast USA. The total trip will be two and a half weeks. I have few expectations. Next I am off to Nicaragua to learn Spanish and will continue to travel Central America until my money runs out.Washington D.C.Seattle needs a better transportation system. DC's Metro transit system is easy to use and navgate as well being very clean. I spent twenty dollars on a metro card and it lasted me more than a week. DC is compacted into a small area. The main attractions are within ten square miles and can easily be reached by the metro. The nation's capital is also working culture. I stepped into the metro to union station and I was the ... read more

Let's call this day "disorientation." ;) We hopped on the bus in Boston in the a.m. from South Station. There weren't that many people riding so it was no problem getting seats together. We had to switch busses about 15 minutes into it because that bus had a flat tire, but from there on out it was smooth sailing. Listened to my IPod all the way to NYC. When we got into New York we stopped at the Port Authority bus depot, had to take the subway to the WTC stop, and from there took the PATH train to Penn Station. From Penn Station we grabbed our little red rental car, grabbed egg salad sandwiches from a deli, and found our way to our hotel in Elizabeth, New Jersey, which was...well, a bit dumpy. I'm sure ... read more

We woke up at the crack of dawn and slowly got ready to head down to the lookout point where we were last night and watch the sunrise. It was freezing cold and some of the girls from our group brought their sleeping bags, fantastic idea, it was that cold. The sunrise was beautiful despite the freezing cold. It was an amazing sight seeing the sun rise over the Grand Canyon. Afterwards he drove down to a lodge to have breakfast, when we arrived there were deer hanging around outside the lodge eating grass. We took some close up photos and headed in for some food. We sat inside and ate a nice hot breakfast to keep us warm and awake. We finished our breakfast and left the lodge to go for a hike down into ... read more
