Journal de bord Samedi le 20 octobre Jackson Creek (Deltaville) Jour 1 Rien ! Capoute !

So, I've been back for over a week. Jumped right back into work last Monday and already took a business trip to NJ. It's like I never left. hee hee. I'm totally feeling normal again. I've had some time to reflect about how my journey has affected who I am now. I definitely find myself thinking a little more each day about how I want to make my life happier, make the people around me happier, and love each day to the fullest. Life's too short to question why we do things. I was nervous to do this, scared, etc. I definitely had my ups and downs..as you have read. But all in all...I DID IT. I feel like I can do anything now..haha. I will never look back and say, What If? I DID IT. ... read more

My cousin once asked, "So how are you liking it there in Chi-Town?" I said, "What Chi-What?" She said, "Chi-Town is what some folks call Chicago" Ohhhhhh!!! Okay. I thought she was referring to Chinatown. But anyways, I was finally able to go to Chicago's Chinatown on the birthday of my roomie's officemate. Chow time! Just a few facts... As of this writing, Chi-Town's Chinatown, as per Wikipedia, is the third largest in the US. The largest is in New York and I yet have to see it when I go there this Christmas! YEY! My FIRST Autumn From Evanston, we drove towards south to get to Chinatown. It took us about an hour to get there. I'd like to note, however, that once again, the season has changed. It's Autumn already! My first Autumn in ... read more

Had quite a bad night’s sleep last night due to all the loud snoring going on in the bunk house. We all got ready and got in the van on our way to Bryce Canyon National Park. But it was quite a long drive so Jon took a shortcut through a dirt road called the ‘Grand Staircase’ which is closed when there has been rain anytime in the last week, lucky for us there hadn’t. The road was so bumpy and rough the van was all over the road but it was all great fun. Jon was getting a little excited and speeding this massive van up and down narrow roads and sharp turns. We first stopped at the Bryce Canyon Visitor’s Centre and had a quick look around. I bought a book about all the ... read more

It was moose hunting season in Maine when we left Quebec. Along the way were several weigh stations where hunters were milling about, probably swapping stories about the ones that got away. Nevertheless, there were quite a few moose kills on trailers. In deference to the squeamish, I won’t post any pictures. Actually, I didn’t get the chance to take any, as we were driving in a misty rain the whole time. We didn’t mind the rain that day, since Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park were clear and crisp the next day. The park was lovely in the fall, and the summer crowds were long gone. We hit the high points of the park and enjoyed a great lunch in the teeny village of Seal Harbor, where we mailed a few postcards. On the drive ... read more

Las Vegas -- Day 1 We arrived at our hotel, The Stratosphere Resort & Casino around 1:30am! The casino was hopping! We used express check-in and avoided the line at the registration desk and headed up to our room. We were very happy with our room. The room was very clean and the hotel overall was immaculate! I was very pleased with the deep bath tub that was perfect for soaking in after our long flight! ______________________________________________________________________________ The next morning before leaving the room, I presented Doug with his next Surprise -- tickets to see Jimmy Buffet in concert tonight at the MGM Grand!!!!! He was blown away! We decided to try the hotel's "Courtyard Buffett" for breakfast! It was excellent. The cost of $11 per person was very good considering it was a full breakfast ... read more

Our first night in Texas we stayed at Caprock National Park, right outside of Turkey, TX. We cooked spaghetti and bread for dinner and spent the night by the campfire. We are getting pretty good at the whole camping thing! The only bad things about this night were the bugs and the wind. The bugs were so loud that I was awake about 3 hours before sunrise. . . of course Matt slept through it all! The next morning we got up and drove to Rikk and Dianne’s house outside of Crowell, TX. (Nate’s aunt and uncle). I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get Matt away from there. Not only to Rikk and Dianne make Matt a ridiculous amount of food, but they have over 1,000 acres that include 9 tanks to fish in ... read more

The Adventure Continues Well that whole blogging regularly thing is getting a little better. Since my last entry we have left Fiji and are now in San Diego. The weather is nice but the hangover is harsh from our first night here at the backpackers. What is the deal with all of them regularly organising pub crawls. Plus there is a high expectation that we should be there and drinking heavily as we are Australians. Back to Fiji; after Beachcomber Island we headed to Waya Island. This was definately the experience we were looking for in Fiji. Very secluded with minimal touristy additions. We were staying at a backpackers called Adi's Place which was really just part of the village. This meant that we were often mingling with the locals, often resulting in talking about the ... read more

Posted by: Onaxthiel: We tried for an early start out of Clair to clear MI as rapidly as possible. There were only a few stops along the route we wanted to make on our way to Pennsylvania, and they were things that looked like they had potential to be interesting on our big map. The first stop was sleepy hollow state park. Usually we wouldn't have bothered stopping, but since it's getting towards Halloween, our curiosity (and the fact that we needed some breaks in our driving after yesterdays marathon driving session.) got the better of us. Sleepy Hollow state park looked like any other that was charging us admission to spend almost no time in, so we bypassed it and drove back to an unused church nearby for some shots of it with the autumn ... read more
