Tuesday October 9th - Hell-A We arrived in LA early in the morning, after another perfectly smooth LAN Peru flight. It was an 1 ½ taxi ride to the Best Western on Sunset Boulevard, and luckily they let us check in early, ( we arrived at the hotel at 9am ). They even let us go for breakfast that morning. The hotel is actually really nice, the room is spacious and there is free wi-fi. The pool area is in a nice courtyard at the rear. We dropped our bags, had some breakfast and set off toward Hollywood. LA is a sprawling mass. Absolutely no-one walks anywhere, the car is defiantly king here. In some place it is actually impossible to walk as there are no pavements or crossings - and you really dont want to ... read more

Welcome to our travel Blog. Renee and I are leaving the US tomorrow night with our friends Bill and Faye for two weeks. We're celebrating our 25th Anniversary - about a month early and Bill and Faye agreed to come with us. Tomorrow night (Friday) we head for Barcelona, Spain via Madrid. On Monday we sail aboard the Celebrity Century from Barcelona for 11 Nights traveling the Mediteranean. This seems like a great way to keep everyone up to date on our trip and sure beats postcards. We'll post an update each day we have internet access. I've been reading postings from our fellow cruisers all day on the Cruise Critic Website Forum (a great place to subscribe if you are taking a cruise). Since it was 91 degrees today here in Orlando, I laughed at ... read more

We cracked. We are in a hotel right now. The Seaside Inn... We were driving from Yosemite and it got too dark and there were no nice brown signs on the side of the highway for camping. so we are in our first hotel. Since we last "blogged," we have travelled down the coast. We saw the Redwoods in northern California and they were HUGE. Then we headed towards San Francisco. We stayed with Allison's friends Mary and Jim Shiff in their cute home in Sebastopol, CA. We spent several nights in the area, exploring the little towns near Sebastopol as well as exploring San Francisco with Allison's camp friend, Allie Doak. We did all the regular tourist activities: Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Chinatown, Golden Gate Bridge, etc. We also had a great experience at our ... read more

Today is the day that I finally cave and join everyone else who has a blog in this world. I only wish I would have know about this website sooner. Right now unfortunately I am not in a position to travel. For the first time in three years I am holding a steady job committed to stay for at least one year. It’s all good though because I am saving for a wedding. I met the most amazing person in the whole world and now we are planning to get married (and when I say the whole world I mean it). The only catch is that he lives in India. I met him two and a half years ago when I went to India for the second time. We became friends and then fell in love. ... read more

Great news: we got a wi-fi signal booster (it may have a different name, but you get it, right?) and now we have computer in our motor home! It boosts the signal enough that everyone gets it inside now! Yay! If it’s Friday, it must be tour day! We went to Yosemite National Park, which is about 70 miles away…70 s-l-o-w miles. We’d heard that weather was supposed to move in, so we left here at 9:00 thinking we’d have to leave the park early, but sure enough, the weather guessers were wrong again~~it was warm and still all day! The park is gorgeous right now, with the leaves falling like raindrops, and so many many different colors. There is no water in the falls…that’s mostly a spring thing any more. We spent quite a bit ... read more

Happy Birthday, Doug! Surprise, we are going to Vegas!!!! Doug's 45th birthday arrived and little did he know that we would be on a plane heading for Las Vegas that very evening! I had made all of the arrangements and packed our bags. All that remained was to leave the house at 5pm. I had set a few clues out along the way and I was anxious to see if Doug picked up on them. When he got into my car, I had the satelitte radio set on the weather channel for Detroit/Las Vegas. He noticed.............then I have him a box to open with an airplane on the front...as he was opening it the CD playing switched over to the next track...............Faith Hill started singing "Hey Baby, Let's go to Vegas....." as he opened the box ... read more

I've expanded my vobaulary quite a bit these past 2 months. Not to mention picking up some strange accents. Proudly, mine was deemed - indetectable - until I bust out about coffee, or talking, or walking...or my declination of my favorite 4-letter word... 1) draft previously: visions of drunk frat boys dance in my head currently: any animal used as muscle, to move goods or till land 2) skirt previously: article used to capitalize on female powers currently: to pound out any large, dirty debris from a fleece after it’s shorn 3) quarters previously: small coins useful for parking and payphones currently: division of udder 4) flemming previously: last name of friend currently: the upward folding of a goat’s lips when it senses another goat in heat 5) vent previously: to complain about life’s layers of ... read more

We woke as normal and packed the trailer ready for our relatively short trip to a place called Lake Powell. We first stopped at a small Navajo market which was located just off the side of the road but in the middle of nowhere. We looked through the small stores full of hand made weapons and jewelry. I ended up buying a wristband made from dried seeds, I also was looking for something to send home but most of it was quite delicate so I didn’t bother. We got back into the van and continued on. Our next stop was another lookout point which overlooked a windy canyon with a windy river at the bottom, it was another awesome view. We took some photos then headed back to the van and on our way. We soon ... read more

We only have one week off work, so it's time to head towards home.... The valley of the Pecos river, as it flows out of the Sangre De Christo Mountains is one of the most beautiful and special places I have ever been. It's not the kind of spectacular beauty, like the Grand Canyon or Rocky Mountains, but a subtle magical play of light and colors. We come here often as we can. Comanches and Apaches have traveled, camped & hunted here & left flint arrowheads and other artifacts. Other ancients before them. At present it is a center of New Mexico Hispanic culture. One decends from the high dry Juniper Country into a fertile and watered valley. Buildings are made of adobe. Every bend in the river reveals new beauty. Fields are narrow, divided by ... read more
