That was supposed to have an exclamation point, but I don't want to spend five days trying to find it. And if I spell a word with a z that normally has a y, its because their positions are opposite on the kezboards here. See? I was extremely frustrated yesterday, as I missed my connecting flight in Frankfurt. I went to the assigned gate, and gave my ticket to the lady at the counter. She looks at the ticket, looks at me, looks at the ticket again, and says: Geneva! It's gone! (Image it in a German accent; I dare you not to laugh.)(Oh, and I found the !) After taking a moment to wonder if she meant the city or the plane bound for it, I went upstairs two floors to the tranfer desk. Such ... read more

From a helicopter 16 000 feet above sea level. Extreme sports are big in Switzerland and also very expensive so we decided to the big one and jumped out of a helicopter at 16 000 feet. It was, needless to say, awesome. Free falling is THE most incredible feeling ever. Nerves on the ground weren't that bad considering but still once we were up in the helicopter - with no door!!! - and turning sideways it got a wee bit scary. In fact, we were kind of glad to be able to get out. It is sooo cold up there. For anyone thinking of doing it - go go go!!!! And we will be pleased to show you all the (expensive but necessary) DVD when we return home. If we return home that is because Switzerland ... read more

After several vaccinations and doctor visits, the purchase of millions of guidebooks, many hours of studying my Vietnamese phrasebook (which means I can now almost say 'hello' and 'thank you' in what I believe to be a Vietnamese accent), countless attempts by my mother to motivate me, and horrible goodbyes with my best friends I am, of course, ready to go ....or am I? The truth is: I have never been so freaked out in my entire life! Feel free to encourage me :... read more

... read more

SNOW FIGHTS, DELIRIOUS LAUGHTER & ONE HELL OF A GOOD NIGHT!! I call ze polize!! I loved Switzerland, had so much fun!! We arrived in Lauterbrunnen after a very long day of travel, I think we’d been driving for around 12 hours, so everyone was starting to go slightly mad and really ready for a drink. We settled into our little cabins whilst being totally blown away by the scenery, our campsite was right at the base of the Alps, we sat and ate dinner thinking about how lucky we were. I think Switzerland is the one place where it doesn’t matter how bad a photographer you are it is impossible to take a bad photo, unless of course it’s of yourself… LOL! After dinner it was straight into the bar, the local beer was very ... read more

I got to Pisa and went to see the leaning tower. I took some photos, but could not climb up because I had all of my luggage. I had my thoughts confirmed by some others that Pisa does not offer much. I was delighted when I got to the net cafe to have an email from francesco saying he could host me on that night. I contacted him quickly and he met me in the square. We got some kebabs and went to his flat with his friends. They went to see a horror movie in Italian, I declined and did some train research. I had my own bed which was nice and I slept well. The next day we played with his Chinchilla , Roger and then he made us some pasta before my departure. ... read more

I joined Lara on a walking holiday in the Graubunden region of Switzerland. We had a lovely first day wandering in the mountains in the sunshine, admiring the views of the mountains and I had my photo taken above Davos. Unfortunately the weather was wet for most of the rest of the week so Lara kept me nice and dry in her backpack, but I didn't get to see very much, although I did ride in some cable cars, a gondola and a funicular railway which was good fun! We also went shopping in Zurich on the way home!... read more

We arrived in Switzerland, had dinner and got changed for the 'P Party' in 'The Bombshelter' which was literally an on-site bomb shelter that had been turned into a pub. Contrary to how it may seem I am not dressed as 'Where's Wally' I am actually a Poet, hence the pen and paper. And no, I didn't write poems all night I just said that I had writers block. The next day everyone went up Jungfrau Mountain but Rachel and I decided not to go so we went to see an amazing Waterfall called 'Trummelbach' and you could literally walk through tunnels and stairways so you were sort of inside the waterfall it was amazing, and pretty scary. On the way there we saw a base jumper, he jumped off this huge cliff right in front ... read more

Still in Grimmelwald. I recommend to anyone visiting Europe to spend a few days in Murren or Grimmelwald to either hike or just chill out and take in the ridiculously amaying scenery. This hostel (Mountain Hostel) has by far been the best yet. Its extremely low key, a bit older crowd than the bunch at the "party" hostel in Interlaken, but still a great amount of fun. There's a group of really cool English kids who entertain most of the hostel into the wee hours with breakdancing and a few nights ago we had a group of 29 German prisoners who were on some kind of release program for assisting handicapped people in the outdoors, which created a whole different kind of interest from the hostel crowd. The weather here has not been worthy of the ... read more
