All the way back in Rio we had made a rash change of plans. With a depressing weather forecast for the forseeable future along the Brazilian coast, doubled with the fact that we were in the most expensive country in South America (for those exchanging from the pound), we decided to leave Brazil altogether as soon as possible. This left us with about a month of free time before our flight out of Buenos Aires, which we now needed to fill. Obviously this wouldn't be too difficult with the number of countries at our fingertips, all offering a variety of wonders within themselves. So we tossed a few ideas around, including living in Buenos Aires for a month to try to get some work in a hostel and recover some funds, or making our way slowly ... read more

Kasper... read more

Tuesday 19th October 2010 Our 06.15 alarm roared to life for our 06:45 taxi to the airport. Packing quickly & quietly we headed downstairs to be told it was only 05:30 - Bummer! Making the most of it we headed to the airport earlier grabbing some much needed sustenance. Our taxi was waiting for us when we reached Ushuaia - It was nice seeing our names on cardboard and not having to lug our bags too far for a change. Arriving at a very basic looking house we wondered if we’d been taken to the wrong place. Inside it was nice, but there was no separate living quarters from the owner and this made it feel a little like we were intruding in her home (not helped over the next few days by the fact ... read more

Greetings all from Ushuaia ---- literally the end of the world. The archipelagos of the Beagle Channel are scattered around like croutons in a bowl of soup and then if you go far enough, the land literally just runs out on you… The mountainous peaks of Tierra del Fuego National park surround this isolated port which is as far South as a human can go (unless you get on a boat to Antarctica) and it sits in a concave scoop (a little like La Paz) enduring the gales and unpredictable weather mood changes of the region´s topography. I arrived a couple of days ago and have now parted company with my fellow Kumuka buddies, having endured two continuous days of 14 hours in the truck with a visit to the Otway Sound Penguin colony squashed in. ... read more

Hola, The journey from Puerto Natales to Ushuaia was quite interesting. We left Puerto Natales and met a bus coming north from Punta Arenas in an Estancia parking lot where we transferred vehicles. Then, we continued along the road towards Ushuaia. We starting parallelling the Straits of Magellan and we saw several shipwrecks along the shoreline as well as a red tide in parts. When we arrived at the ferry across the Straits, we were little blown away by the wind. It was whipping up large swells and blowing the sand on the beach everywhere! Then, the ferry had trouble getting to the shore and when it did, it was smaller than the Bowen Island Ferry. Seriously, we have to get on that little rowboat to get acorss the mighty Straits of Magellan? Really, that rowboat ... read more

Papo sobrenatural.

A comida aqui é boa e estamos gradativamente provando as cervejas. Estamos ... read more
