Surfers was more of a relaxing time then straight partying which was definitely necessary. Our hostel was more of a hotel then anything; our room was bottom floor with access to a hot tub right outside our door and a pool across the grass. We had a room to four of us with our own fridge, bathroom and TV. All for $25 a night, the standard price for a hostel. The girls in our group are awesome; they planned the rest of my trip for me and I love them for it. I don’t think I’ve been more relaxed, this trip is amazing. The first night in Surfers we had a coupon for a place called Down under which was a dump. The coupon gave a free meal with a purchase of a pint. So since ... read more

So sadly Peter and Rachel left us in the Blue Mountains - no longer could we afford the luxuries of hotel and hostel accommodation from here on its camping only. So we found a reasonably nice campsite in the Blue Mountains after leaving Pete and Rach and hammered pegs into rock solid earth. The evening passed quickly as we started learning Spanish again after our lapse of several months! The following day we went snake hunting - apparently there are large pythons in the mountains - with stout boots (and shorts) we set off towards the ruined castle (great pile of rocks) 6 hours away. 1.50 later we arrived (moving well this day) so we decided to climb up Mount Solitary another 6 hours away. A thin ridge scramble and fantastic views led to the top. ... read more

as the title sugests todays the day for moving, although i've been planning it for over a month it seems to have crept up all quick like, which is why i'm awake at 8:00am with a stinking hangover and some strange girl snoring in my bed...... the part about it being 8.00 am is sadly the only true part. so last night i went out with my boss from work and the other two, tilly and kim for some beers which was a bit wierd for as much as me and mark get on where always to busy to talk so we have this friendly relationship without a base, so after maybe two beers and he's pissed he's asking me my life story he's also praising me infront of people which is awkward to say the ... read more

I planned to stay only a couple of nights in Bellingen but I loved the place so much I ended up staying five. There was simply so much to do around the hostel & such a great crowd staying there that a longer stay was needed to do the place justice. On one day a group of us went for a long bike ride through the countryside to a place called the Promised Land, which had a stunning little stream running through it called Never Never Creek. The place really was incredible, the water was so clear you could drink it (literally) & the surrounding countryside was breathtaking. We spent the whole day exploring the promised land and only then did we get an appreciation of how it got its name. On my last day in ... read more

Indian Pacific! Ok so i couldn't find a place to stay for a couple of months in Perth and decided to preserve my good memories of Perth and not destroy them savagely by hanging around doing very little/nothing. SO! I got on the Indian Pacific and am currenty working my way back across Australia to Sydney. So far i've visited Kalgoorlie and i'm currently in Adelaide (again). Adelaide is much better when you aren't wandering around with a life on your back panicing and trying to find a way out of the city. Pictures of Kalgoorlie will arrive soonish when i get camera hooked up to PC. Set a new single travel record on my Kalgoorlie - Adelaide leg of the Indian Pacific when i spent 30 hours on the train save 45 minutes to walk ... read more

Hi Possums How you all doing? We were just arriving at Port Augusta, weren't we. Hmmm, Kevin and Tracey, as well as Nathan and Jess, their almost grown children looked after us and entertained us very well, Jess even gave up her bedroom for us!! Jess is big into riding and horses and has a beautiful young thoroughbred chestnut mare called Tess. The weekend that we were visiting, Jessie's mentor, Kate was riding in a two day event, dressage, crosscountry and show jumping down in Kadina, so early on Saturday morning we lleft Port Augusta and headed south to Kadina. We arrived just in time to watch Kate compete in the dressage, and then Jrss Tracey & I spend the remainder of the day watching the showjumping, some of the riders were dire, but some were ... read more
