hello hello!! So I left off about to leave Rainbow Beach - Dave, Chris, and Shane - the lovely lads from Leeds were kind enough to give me a lift all the way to 1770. We ended up sharing a dorm, and that evening we were also joined by Orla (the Irish contingent from TEAM B of the Fraser Islanders). That evening Shane cooked a lovely pasta meal...and I went for a 'nap' - however, this short snooze turned into a much needed 12 hour sleep fest. The next day Dave, Orla and I went to a surf lesson! When we got to the surf shop, we were met by the owner of the store- who was the living, breathing generalisation that people make of surfer boys - long blond hair, each sentence ending with 'bro', ... read more

Well it's true we're not in Kansas anymore. In fact, we were never in Kansas, however, we were in New Zealand and now we are in the mighty land of OZ. So sorry it has been 17 days since our last update, but, come on now folks we are on vacation here. I will try to recap as succinctly as I can, though I do have a propensity for being verbose so you better make sure you are seated for this one ( I mean, really, you already ought to be seated as only overworked sales people with back problems stand while working at their computers). We left the Crums little strip of paradise and had a great ferry trip back to the North Island of New Zealand. Our first stop, back in Wellington, was a ... read more

In less than 1 hour, my parents are taking me to the airport for my flight over to Fiji. Yippee! Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes I received in person, via email, phone and text today. I really appreciate your kind thoughts and well wishes. Today has been one of sorrow and excitement. It is certainly exciting to realise that the day of departure on this epic journey has finally arrived. I have been quite anxious all day. It is also sorrowful to have had to say goodbye to many of you for at least 6 months. For others, our paths will not cross for an even longer period of time. Stay tuned for the Fiji update. ... read more

Well Ed and I have two days of teaching to go then we have Friday off to do the last of our packing. Hopefully the kids are ok to take us to the airport on Saturday...given the amount of times we've taken them! Can't wait to land on foreign soil and begin our adventure! Weather in Paris looks fine, only 21 degrees but seems to be getting warmer.... read more

MORE PHOTOS TO BE ADDED SOON For Easter I went to the 17th Annual East Coast International Blues and Roots Music Festival with Sean. It's held in Byron Bay about two hours south of Brisbane. Day 1: Wednesday evening we caught a flight from Avalon airport to Brisbane. We got a cheap one so of course it was late and we didn't get to our hotel till after 1 that night:(. Day 2: The next morning we got up early to catch the bus to Byron Bay. We had a bit of spare time after checking in so we left our bags at the bus station and went to sit by the river for a while, spotting some lizards on the way. The bus journey was a bout two hours and we passed through Surfer's Paradise ... read more

Now i know there are alot of people out there who have things much worse than i do, but i still feel i have a right to complain about the week we just had. Firstly i got a call monday morning from ANZ bank asking me whether i had authorized a transaction of $4000 to some unknown person via internet banking. i hadnt - and so became a victim of internet fraud. Now apparently i will get this money back but i have to wait 25 days for an investigation to take place and ive had to go to the police station and make statements etc. So i will know in a few weeks whether this is bad news or not, but at the moment my wallet is $4,000 lighter! Early thursday morning my cousins came ... read more

I have started some work for the call centre job - which I was assured will start for real on May the 1st. This has now been postponed again!! All I have been doing is entering peoples phone numbers into an internal database - incredibly boring but also very easy. 8hrs a day of this does screw with my head but it is easy money. The call-centre isn't selling or any of those ******* telemarketing things. Its for a company who require us to contact/recieve calls from their shareholders about an upcoming takeover or something like that anyway. Luckily the people I was working with all seemed a good bunch. On Saturday Mikey, Chris, Hovis and myself went to the famous Victoria Markets. Unfortunately it was closing up just as we arrived but looked like it ... read more

Illalla piti vähän tehdä ruokaakin eli makaroonia ja kanaa.. näppärästi meni sekin ruoka alas!... read more

Kings Canyon Rim Walk was our longest hike I think. It was most definately the most tiring anyway as the heat was so intense. Halfway through the walk we came to the Garden of Eden where you could go swimming...in freezing cold water...that was a nice dingey green colour...I passed on this one... Our last night bush camping was wonderful. Scott brought out his guitar, although it was left handed so I couldn't play anything on it. We all had a sing song round the warmth of the campfire, had some wine and dinner...and then someone accidently set Scott's only wooden spoon on fire...this became a topic in one of the songs...ahaha... Throughout the trip I heard alot of traditional Australian songs, and plenty of drinking songs...my favourite being 'Duncan', where you change the name, then ... read more

Bite Size Stories of this Huge Country Kangaroo (Cannes): Haven’t seen any in the wild, but ate one last night. Not bad, not gamey like I thought it would be. But I still prefer beef. $24 Drink (Cannes): In Australia they think Smirnoff is good Vodka. I disagree. This is why I ordered an Absolute Red Bull. But when I was handed the drink it was green and looked like a science experiment gone bad. I thought it must just be the black light, so I handed the girl behind the bar $6 and grabbed the drink. She laughed at me and said, “no, that will be $24” What? Why? What is this?...to which she replied “Absinthe, vodka, and Red Bull” Great! It was the most expensive, disgusting drink I have ever drank in my life. ... read more
