Dad loves tennis so we decided a tour of the home of the Australian Open would be interesting. We got to check out the press conference room - much smaller and more intimidating than I first thought! Interesting to check out the change rooms and find out that lesser-ranked players get smaller lockers! The day we went, a crew was setting up for a concert that night so we weren't allowed access to the arena - anyone thinking of going should check this before they go. We were still allowed to sit in one of the corporate booths and watch them set up. Good tour for anyone interested in a behind-the-scenes look, but I definitely recommend going for the Australian Open, the atmosphere is amazing!... read more

Had tea on the way up to Belgrave, fed the birds. I'm not a big fan of birds so dad fed them while I took photos. Took the Puffing Billy from Belgrave to Menzies Creek. It was a relaxing ride, occasionally you get some dust in your face thanks to the wind blowing smoke from the front of the train.... read more

Well we've both taught the last of our classes for about 10 weeks so now it's time to break loose! I hope we can manage to work out how to load photos etc. and that someone will read what we have to say. Also that it's not too much hassle at internet cafes. We'll see. Wonderful to hear from you Maria... more to follow. We are not going anywhere near the trouble in Egypt so yeas we are still going. Time to finish packing!... read more

Maar goed, we waren dus gebleven ... read more

Okay here begins my travel log for 2006. After travelling extensively last year I have decided to take up the opportunity to live in England for 6 months once more and continue to travel also. This doesn't come without trepidation, considering I did do it last year and feel I maybe covering my tracks again. Last year I was lucky enough to live in England, play cricket and work, and in my 5 month stint there I also managed to fly out and visit Turkey, where I saw the battlefields at Gallipoli (something I think most Australians should do) and Portugal. I also visited a fair few places within England, with the added bonus of not living far outside of London meant I could get in there quite regularly. After my time there I did a ... read more

Dad's here on holiday so I've started doing the tourist-y things again. MCG tours were quite interesting, especially since it was done up for the Commonwealth Games. We got to climb up to the higher levels which was really steep - my legs were wobbling even when I sat at the seats! I don't know how people sit all the way up there and not feel like they're about to fall.... read more

Well it's true we're not in Kansas anymore. In fact, we were never in Kansas, however, we were in New Zealand and now we are in the mighty land of OZ. So sorry it has been 17 days since our last update, but, come on now folks we are on vacation here. I will try to recap as succinctly as I can, though I do have a propensity for being verbose so you better make sure you are seated for this one ( I mean, really, you already ought to be seated as only overworked sales people with back problems stand while working at their computers). We left the Crums little strip of paradise and had a great ferry trip back to the North Island of New Zealand. Our first stop, back in Wellington, was a ... read more

In less than 1 hour, my parents are taking me to the airport for my flight over to Fiji. Yippee! Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes I received in person, via email, phone and text today. I really appreciate your kind thoughts and well wishes. Today has been one of sorrow and excitement. It is certainly exciting to realise that the day of departure on this epic journey has finally arrived. I have been quite anxious all day. It is also sorrowful to have had to say goodbye to many of you for at least 6 months. For others, our paths will not cross for an even longer period of time. Stay tuned for the Fiji update. ... read more

Well Ed and I have two days of teaching to go then we have Friday off to do the last of our packing. Hopefully the kids are ok to take us to the airport on Saturday...given the amount of times we've taken them! Can't wait to land on foreign soil and begin our adventure! Weather in Paris looks fine, only 21 degrees but seems to be getting warmer.... read more

Now i know there are alot of people out there who have things much worse than i do, but i still feel i have a right to complain about the week we just had. Firstly i got a call monday morning from ANZ bank asking me whether i had authorized a transaction of $4000 to some unknown person via internet banking. i hadnt - and so became a victim of internet fraud. Now apparently i will get this money back but i have to wait 25 days for an investigation to take place and ive had to go to the police station and make statements etc. So i will know in a few weeks whether this is bad news or not, but at the moment my wallet is $4,000 lighter! Early thursday morning my cousins came ... read more
