Hello all... Bet you've been wondering what we've been up to lately... ...Well we've driven 1,950 Km from Sydney to Melbourne and around about in the last 10 days! And now we've finally arrived in Melbourne... Rozi's driving didnt kill us and we managed not to wreck the hire car - so all is well!!! We succeded in negotiating our way out of Sydney and after a brief stop at the windy and grey Bondi Beach (just so we can say we've been there!) we headed up to the Blue Mountains, for a couple of days of sightseeing. Beautiful day when we got there - saw the 3 Sisters, an impressive rock formation with lovely views of the valley and mountains. The next day of course was completley foggy and you couldnt see past the end ... read more

Hey ho people Have just had quite possibly the craziest week in my life. When you hear the variety of stuff i have done then you will understand why. Let's start back in Sydney. I can't even remember which days i did what but i'll fill you in anyway. Did some celebrity spotting on the Manly Ferry. The old Horton guy from the Vicar of Dibley was on there - talk about A list. The ferry was pretty cool too especially as its way cheaper than a proper Harbour Cruise but you get to see all the same things, plus we came back from Manly as the sun was setting so we got great views of the bridge and opera house at sunset. Speaking of celebrities, we had lunch outside Russell Crowes house at the world ... read more

The weather was lovely when I left Narooma but as I headed south the clouds rolled in and it started to rain again. On the way to Lakes Entrance I stopped off at Eden, only because the name sounded nice. It turned out to me another sleepy fishing port but was a good excuse to top up my caffeine and chocolate muffin levels. While sat in the café on the dock I was watching the pelicans who themselves were attentively watching the fishermen for any scraps that might be coming their way. As more fishermen came into port more and more pelicans were turning up. In the air they seem so graceful, effortlessly gliding their massive bodies on the wind currents. Perfectly balanced, until they come into land. Once the decision has been made to come ... read more

Hi Guys, yesterday I decided to go for a wonder around Melbourne, Will decided to stay at home, sadly for him he missed out on 'The birth of Sakyamuni Budha and multicultural festival' which was held in federation square. It was quite a simple event but I found it interesting and really beautiful to look at. Lots of people waited to pay their respects to Budha, either by lighting incense, making a small donation and ringing a large bell, or simply praying at the feet of the budha monument. I found out that his mother, Queen Maya was told nearly a year before the birth of her son that she would be blessed with a son, the premernition came to the lady that told her in a dream. Soon after Prince Sakyamuni was born and Queen ... read more

Its my last night in Melbourne. Im a bit sad and a bit nervous but mostly very excited. I had a great going away party last night, thanks for everyone who came and had a drink (or many) with me. It was a messy night, and a messier morning (sorry for throwing up in your toilet Bryce). It wasnt until about 7pm I was able to function normally again. Consequently I am very far behind in my preparations. So I will keep this brief. Besides, I think the photos speak for themselves. Next time I write I will be in Hong Kong. Yay. I'll miss you all!!!!... read more

Seven days to go before takeoff to NZ, and it's a South Island kind of day here. The horses outside are standing, mournful but uncomplaining, in a form of ultrawet drizzle that saturates your windcheater without your being aware that it's happening. We figure we're heading for weather that's just like that, but colder. Seven days would normally mean five more working days, and for me it does. Notionally for Helen, too, but three of them are to be spent by her on a two-day conference (does that compute?) in relatively sunny Maroochydore. It will give her some suitcase practice. Little time left, then, for itinerary planning. It's not like the two-month UK odysseys of our past, where the days stretched out so far that we set out with nothing more than vague intentions. We have ... read more

Well hello there, today we left Melbourne and headed on down to the great ocean road - i must say it is spectacular!!! the scenery right from the start is out of this world. The ocean is the Southern ocean which is the one which connects with the South Pole, so no swimmign today -otherwise might freeze to death. We caught a bus which is part of a tour down to Apollo bay, and the driver was really cool and informative. We stopped for lunch and were surrounded by koalas - they were all snoozy in the trees, but we were really lucky and got to see loads moving around - still quite slowly though. AND we also saw the lighthouse where 'Round the Twist' was filmed - remember that weird programme on when we were ... read more

Well it's been a while since I wrote on this here blog and there is good reason for that.. because I haven't done very much!!! Well that's not 100% true, but near enough. I went to the 'Balck Pearl' to try and meet Robb the guy I have the contact with, but he wasn't working that night, but I was still able to speak with the Manager of the bar called Natasha. She was cool enough and spoke with me about maybe getting me behind the bar once or twice a week and that she'd have a chat with Robb and see what he thought?! She said she'd be in touch the following week. A bar called 'Trust' gave me a call on Tuesday (9th) morning and asked me to come in for an interview on ... read more

Well I'm sad to say that I've had to pospone the summer camp! It was a very hard decision to make but unfortunately I know deep down I've done the right thing. I will have to look at doing the camp next year. I still am heading to Canada about Sept/Oct. That was my original plan anyway so thats not changing, and the boys are still so happy for me to come. This now allows me to save more money, a much better situation to be in. I am still leaving work, the official date is 9th June, I haven't changed those plans and haven't told the boss any thing different, so anyone who knows my boss ssshhhhh! I have started applying for teaching positions, CRT, casual contract. I mean its about time I concentrated on ... read more
