We made it to Melbourne in 1 piece - as well as our luggage :) Flying in 1st class on a huge international flight is no so bad...those 14 hours went by pretty fast! After our 2nd dinner of the day, we had turndown service for our beds. They were completely flat complete w/ extra pillows, blankets, eye masks, and warm socks...and our sleeping pills of course. Sleeping came pretty easy after our ice cream sunday's - w/ our choice of chocolate sauce, carmel, cherries, nuts, whipped cream and/or sprinkles...I don't know if we can fly in economy for long flights any more! Hello everyone!!! I have arrived in Melbourne safe and sound after a 26 hour journey which took me to Dubai and Kuala Lumpur Airports!!! I am currently staying with a friend of mine, Geoff, and his family in the eastern suburbs which has been great so far! They have made me very welcome and live in a lovely house with a pool!!! Not bad eh??!! I have had a pretty relaxing couple of days since I have been here, Geoff took me out yesterday to see the local area and get me set up with a phone and bank account and today I am just spending the day chilling out!! I am hopefully going to be heading into the city in the next few days to get cracking on finding a job! So fingers crossed for ... read more

So nun sind wir fast schon 3 Wochen hier...was lässt sich erzählen. Wir haben endlich ein passendes Auto gefunden, um unsere Reise richtig zu beginnen. Eigentlich war die Übergabe heute geplant (03.09.) doch wir haben das irgendwie nicht geblickt, dass so eine Kreditkarte ein Tageslimit hat, so mussten wir die Übergabe auf Morgen verschieben und der gute Herr, der extra für uns 3 Std. gefahren ist wieder heimfahren. Letztes Wochenende waren wir bei Karry-Anne´s Bodypainting Competition, war eine Erfahrung für sich. Alle Artists haben sich mega viel Mühe gegeben (Karry-Anne wurde dritte).. An diesem Wochenende waren wir bei Johnsons Großtante, in Ferntree Gully. Es waren einfach zwei tolle Tage, super schöne Landschaft, schöner Ausblick auf die Stadt (vorallem Nachts) und einfach nette Leute. Oh Melbourne, why does it have to be so far away from the UK and so cold for us?! We were very excited to visit the big city and all that stood between us was a direct train, 36 minutes and warm clothing. This was starting to lack as we only had a pair of trousers each and a jumper that was seriously over worn! However nothing was gonna stop us now as we heard the night before that Melbourne had just been named the most liveable city in the world for the second time. We besloten terug te gaan naar Melbourne en dan daar het weekend door te brengen en uit te gaan in de leuke Fitzroybuurt. Het was niet gemakkelijk om een goedkoop bed te vinden dus boekten we bij een grote organisatie. Nooit meer! Deze keer sliepen we in Nomads. We hadden een kamer voor 4 geboekt bij hostelz.com en bleek dat dormitory's voor 4 niet bestonden. We kwamen allemaal in een aparte kamer op een ander verdiep terecht bij 7 andere mensen. Jan sliep een verdiep boven me. Liselotte sliep gelukkig in dezelfde kamer als ik en Joe kon niet zonder Liselotte (t'was ook maar normaal dat de tortelduifjes samen sliepen) dus kroop hij in het enkel bed met Liselotte in onze kamer.
