Yesterday was my last day in Sydney and I had a lovely time. My travel agent booked a harbour cruise ride for the Sydney Harbour for 2:30pm that day. So, I headed out to Circular Quay via train and got some fish n chips at Quay Seafood prior to the cruise. OMG! It was one of the BEST FISH N CHIPS I've ever had! It was super crispy, super fresh and pipin' hot! That alone was the highlight of the day! So yummy and I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I just hated that the seagulls wanted my food....those vicious birds!
When I got to the cruise, I was so disappointed and annoyed. The cruise lasted 1.5 hours and it was a big waste of my time. First off, I saw most of the sites walking through the city. Secondly, I couldn't hear the information presented due to the fact that there were loud, annoying, Chinese tourists. And lastly, there were Chinese tourists. Yes, I know I'm Chinese, but man....the FOBs are so freakin annoying, especially when they're in large groups. I sat next to many of them, one of whom decided to get some Coke in a cup
and had wanted to walk around with the drink while the ship was rocking. Why would you do that? I do not know. As a result, he spilled his Coke on me! UGH! So annoying, especially since I handwash my clothes!!
Afterwards, I headed straight back to my hotel, changed, and got ready to watch Macbeth at the Sydney Opera House...specifically at the Drama Theater. It was nice and small, so you could see and hear everything. The play was done with a slightly modern twist. Nonetheless, it was fantastic! I then started to venture back to my hotel by walking along the harbour, heading straight for Circular Quay train station. As I was doing so, I couldn't help feel the urge to stay longer. I simply felt like I could live in Sydney.
The next morning, I flew out to Melbourne, which is where I'm at now. I checked into my hotel, dropped off my stuff and headed straight for the central area. I heart this city even more! It's more vibrant with gorgeous architecture and tons of different ethnicities. I simply got confused with the tram system, but it was fine since I had the whole
day to get lost in the city. I walked around in the rain (it's so cold here!!) and did a little shopping at Victoria Market. I ordered some fish n chips (which was not as good as in Sydney), bought a hat and mittens, and ventured back to Federation Square. I then realized my socks were getting wet as my boots were starting to talk to me...so it was time for more shopping. I found an UGG boots store and saw a pair of Flocks on sale (well....not by much by it was something). Apparently Flocks is the sister company and can only be found in Melbourne. I found a cute pair I liked, which was perfect since it'll be cold for the next two days! Ahh....shoes...the perfect souvenier.
Dinner tonight was awesome. I had an amazing risotto at Tutto Bene along the Yarra River. I met some people sitting next to me, who were super nice and offered to have dinner tomorrow night. So, depending on how late I get back from Phillip Island, I may take them up on their offer. I finished off my dinner with their home-churned gelato: panna cotta and tiramisu. Yummy! I got back
to my hotel and had a nice swim in the pool and hung out in the sauna. Anyway, so knackered and need to sleep! Waking up at 5:30am this morning was no bueno! But my first impression on Melbourne is friendly, personable, vibrant, cultured, and beautiful. I really wouldn't mind living here either...and actually prefer this city over Sydney! PS. My hotel room is freakin huge! It has a sofa and a king size bed 😊 And Elena...the men in OZ are beautiful...better looking than in England ;-)
