hey all, firstly apologies for the moaning on the last couple of blogs, we have gotten over the fact that we are slightly bored, but now we are in melbourne (home of neighbours!!!) we are looking forward to our last week in australia. The last week has been a bit dull and boring, but we have been int eh sunshine and not at work, think we were just expecting a bit more exciting, but we both have definitely learned to relax!!!! So, we arrived in Melboure yesterday from Albury, after a bit of a do with the bus driver, over him man handling our baggage and nearly shattering the didgeredoos, we sorted it out, and came to the conclusion that the driver was either a mentalist, or on the verge of losing his job. he pleaded ... read more

Part 22 April 30 Picton One of the tricks to having your trip work out well is to ignore things like weather and alarmist advice. Our plans to bike the Queen Charlotte Track were delayed by not being able to get bikes for the kids. One guide told us he would be being "irresponsible" to rent his kids bikes for this endeavor as the track was so difficult. When I tried to pin him down about the dangers, the most specifics I got were that it was "boggy" in spots, "greasy" in others. Some others also told us the track deteriorates quickly when wet, and the 5+ inches of rain in the last week certainly hadn't improved conditions. So we delayed our start one day while we found someone else with kids bikes and decided to ... read more

Arrived in Melbourne on Thursday, and we've really enjoyed it. The weather apart, everything has been great. In the last couple of days we accidently ended up in the crowd outside the Aussie Television awards... getting a glimpse of Lleyton Hewitt and loads of people we didn't recognise, but they were making the Aussies there scream, so they were probably famous... And had a "Neighbours" day yesterday, visiting Ramsey Street in the morning, and going to a "Neighbours" party with some of the stars in the evening. It was a little odd for me, seeing as I don't watch neighbours, but Josh wanted to go and it was a fun evening, met some cool people and get to brag to those at home who do watch neighbours!! The highlight of Melbourne so far though has to ... read more

Hi All, again! I now it's nothing short of a miracle that I've managed to blog so much in the last few days but its the working life that ties me down and now I'm not working I have all the time in the world, well kind of anyway! Ok, so firstly I would like to apologise to everyone about not sending emails letting people know personally what I'm doing, but once again the Orange email is down (yes I will be complaining) and so I thought this would be the second best way to let everyone know what I'm doing!! As I'm sure some of you will be aware, the girls (Lauren and Lydia) have run or are running out of money and so they have decided to go home early to avoid getting further ... read more

The next day, we took our stuff to Leyl’s house who’s also in Melbourne, returned the car and started to find jobs and somewhere to stay. I met up with a friend from Thailand, which was really nice and we went for dinner and some tea. On the was back from a bar, we passed a little park where a man was standing! I was thinking ok, weirdo, its 2am, but he was actually feeding possums and after we were talking to him for a bit, he let me feed one! It was so cute and reached forward, took the biscuit (custard cream, highly unnutritous) and then ran back up the tree!. The man said that sometimes they don't eat them as obvioulsy they know they're full of crap, but then other times, like then, they ... read more

Vix's Birthday today......... Happy Birthday Vix!!!!! Jordan (Vix Boyfriend currently travelling South America) called Vix first thing- bless him- it made her day! And so did the huge boquet of flowers he had sent to her!!!! In fact she was crying for hours!!!! Out of happiness I hope!! I had work today but only until 2pm so it gave me some time to prepare the party for Vix! She had taken the day off work so I demanded she went out for the rest of the day (returning with the best fish and chips for tea) so I could bake the rest of the Cadbury's Harriot the Hedgehog cake (which i'm sure you all remember from your 3rd birthday or close!!!!) which ended up looking like a bit of a road kill really (but its the ... read more

I must admit I've never been into the Shrine of Rememberance though I've walked around that area before. It was built right after WW1, and is the largest war memorial in Victoria. This is the holy ground for Australians, where they remember all the troops who fought in various wars. Something about this place, the pictures, the medals, the quietness, really makes one ponder about the lives that were lost and what the whole point of war is. ... read more

Dad's here on holiday so I've started doing the tourist-y things again. MCG tours were quite interesting, especially since it was done up for the Commonwealth Games. We got to climb up to the higher levels which was really steep - my legs were wobbling even when I sat at the seats! I don't know how people sit all the way up there and not feel like they're about to fall.... read more

Hey everyone, I'm so sorry its been this long for us to get you updated. What can I say I got lazy with work and stuff. Well we've been in Melbourne just over 4 months now and we totally love it here. We're both settled in good jobs and we're both being kept on until end of july at least so it gives us a chance to really start saving again. Theres been so much happening since we arrived in Mel any spare money we've had has been on that. So far we've been to the Australian Tennis Open, then it was the Commonwealth games, then the grand prix, then the comedy festival, then easter and... I'm tired just thinking about it. We've thoroughly enjoyed it though, there just always seems to be something to look ... read more

Hello from Melbourne Airport. Last few of days were great. Visited wineries a couple of days ago. Great fun, fave was St Hubert probably because it reminded me most what I like about the Okanagan. Today was ANZAC Day (Australia's Remembrance Day). Got up early to watch the ceremonies and parade. Lots of people, and so many soldiers (I think they call them diggers) also lucky to catch a glimpse of the air force jets doing a fly over. Perfect way to say goodbye to the city (and the country). Now I'm in the MEL Singapore Airline lounge. Just enjoyed a couple of tea sandwiches and a VB (moving onto Tiger next...grrr). Nice lounge. Lots of really great snacks and bevies. TV, internet, and lots of magazines. On the down it's quite small (and strangely I'm ... read more
