Nicméně krásný oceán a různé možnosti sportovního vyžití zahrnující surfing nebo body boarding, stand up paddle boarding, kajak, windsurfing atd. učarovaly i mně. Cesta hromadnou Queenslandskou dopravou třemi vlaky a jedním autobusem ode mne trvá 4 a půl nebo 3 a půl hodiny (druhá možnost je autobus, rychlík a vlak). Úžasná je cena. Z Brisbane je pouhopouhých, tramtadadaa, $11,24 pro studenty. Noosa je totiž v zóně 23 (z maximálně možných 23 ... read more

It seems that 2013 and our circumnavigation of Australia have flown by so fast, it is hard to get ones mind around the great adventure. But, in a way, visiting Noosa for our last destination for a week of R&R (as well as cleaning the MH inside and out), was just what we needed. We left the outback of The Darling Downs and, taking a twisted route went to Kingaroy to collect a supply of their famous peanuts, camped at a couple of free camps and then headed to Noosa. Along the way we saw truck load after truck load of hay being shipped out west. The farms there are so dry, cattle in some places appeared very thirsty and hungry. We knew that David and Mary had booked into the Noosa Caravan Park for 5 ... read more

Monday 11th We drive a few minutes up the road to the Noosa National Park where it's possible to see wild Koala bears. We take a pleasant walk of about 4 k through the trees looking everywhere but to no avail. All we get for our troubles is a stiff neck from looking up. We then drive on for about 45 miles and pull in at our next site in Landsborough and book in. After a quick lunch break we're off to the Glass House National Park just down the road. We decide to climb to the top of Mount Ngungun. It's a straight climb of 253 m to the top and over rocks at the top but we are rewarded with a tremendous 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside. We take a slower walk ... read more

Geo: -26.3891, 153.105Tim's dad Facetimed us at 4.30am, then an hour later and shortly after that again! Needless to say we were asleep and didn't pick up, although the ring tone woke us up! When Tim called him back he reminded his dad that we are ten hours ahead so although it was late afternoon in the UK was actually early morning the next day here! Later, much later, we went to Noosa Heads national park to walk a coastal route which skirted the bays and beaches for a few miles. It was very hot so we stopped for a couple of drink breaks, one in the park itself and one in the town of Noosa which is a tourist hotspot. Tim and I had a Monte Carlo biscuit with our pot of tea (yummy - ... read more

We left Surfer’s Paradise on 2ndJuly and had a drive of around 2 and a half hours to reach our next stop up the coast – Noosa Heads. It was another easy and scenic drive, and on the way Emma noticed that we were passing a place called Underwater World in Mooloolaba which is one of the attractions included on our Merlin Annual passes that we bought back in Sydney when we first arrived. As we had left early and hadn’t planned much else for the day, we decided that we would pop in being as it wouldn’t cost us anything! We pulled up on the car park, went through the entrance and showed our passes before being directed through the turnstiles. The place was essentially an attraction dedicated to marine life – essentially an aquarium ... read more

We made it to Queensland aka the sunshine state and it rained a bit more! We did a canoeing trip up the everglades on the upper Noosa River. We didnt let the rain dampen our spirits and had a really good few days and made a few new friends! The first day was lovely with the sun out so we sunbathed and drifted more than paddled to the campsite. And at least the camp was set up before the rain started. We had everything with us in the canoe; tent, cooker, food, alcohol, clothes etc etc. It was quite hard work, especially for Paul as Rachel was enjoying the sunbathing. We got to see some awesome wildlife including Guana's (really huge 1.5m long lizards) it was so cool! Day 2 in the torrential rain we canoed ... read more

Arrived in Noosa Heads and went straight to the lovely Halse Lodge down by the beach. I was just in time for an afternoon at the beach which was literally 150meters from the lodge. This one i must say was probably the nicest backpackers i stayed at, it was a very colonial wooden building and i luckily had a room with just 5 others sharing, 6 in total. I head straight to meet my lovely friend Maisie whom i had met on Fraser. Instead of doing a walk along the national park and ocean, we sat on the beach chatting all afternoon, literally until sunset. That night we decided to take it easy and spend a girly evening treating ourselves to a nice meal and bottle of wine which was just perfect and very much needed ... read more
