We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Noosa and, like Byron Bay, it wasn't long enough!. We have had a small town house with a shared pool and everything we have needed - a lovely patio, pretty garden, efficient shower, washing machine and dishwasher, TV's and DVD Player and everything else including Wifi and Air Conditioning. Noosa is a perfect place with numerous beaches, many surfing and some with much calmer water. It has lakes and rivers, lots of boats of every description, plenty of cafe/ bars and restaurants and many beautiful walks through woodland, in parkland and along beaches. It seems a very laid back place and there are all ages of people here. It is a family place - There are a couple of backpackers hostels but it seems the sort of place where ... read more

Next Instalment!! We didnt get long enough in Byron Bay - Our last day there we spent at The Crystal Garden which was a beautiful garden created by a family (who must have been wealthy) in 1986. It was a lovely place with beautiful plantings, amazing crystals, and Eastern Stone statues and well worth visiting. There was a cafe that sold only organic food and a bookshop with all sorts of books for the soul. The book shop also offered tarot card reading, fortunetelling crystal reading and all sorts of other alternative therapies! All of course, came again with the scent of patchouli and incense! We came across an (empty) meditation tent with a CD playing. The room was comfortably furnished with drapes, cushions and sofas and Rob and I had a sofa each and we sat ... read more

... read more

NOOSA We watched too fast too furious, which was auctioned packed, before arriving at Noosa. We really do not know what to expect! We are waiting around at the bus stop for ‘the GAGAJU bush camp’ bus to pick us up and get chatting to Ulrika & Marion from Sweden, who seem to have less of an idea than us! Alan arrives in a car to drop off a load for the bus. He advises us that our bus will be along soon as it has just had the back axel fixed. Alan is quite curt, he’s only going to say it once so you’d better be listening and Liam likes him instantly. We eagerly jump in and Alan introduces himself as the cook, tells us how exclusive and expensive the area is, where 1hr in ... read more

Hello all! Well, a lot has happened in the last three weeks or so. When I left Katoomba I had intended to do a fair amount of camping but things didn't work out as I had hoped. I went to a town called Bulahdelah to camp at the Myall lakes but was only able to camp for one night nearby. When I got there it was a longer trek to the campsites than I had invisioned and was unable to get a ride there. I started hiking up the highway (in the heavy rain) with my supersized backpack and realized the road to the lakes was about 7 kilometers all up hill! As I was slowly walking the road a nice kid stopped and gave me a lift to Palm Beach/Forster where I would camp and ... read more

Heading north from Brisbane to Noosa we visited Australia Zoo made famous by it's owner the late Steve Irwin. Although expensive, it's a great place to spend a few hours. Throughout the day you can hear the keepers speak about the animals which was really interesting and entertaining, e.g keepers were lifted up by the trunks of elephants, rolled around with tigers and fed HUGE crocodiles by hand! It was fab to see Wombats and Tasmanian Devils as we'd never seen them before. Jen slightly overcame her fear of Kangaroos as we tried out feeding them and they were really tame (The last ones Jen tried to feed beat her up by pushing her with their strong hind legs!!). You can see lots of photos of and tributes to Steve Irwin, which is great as he ... read more
