DAY 296 Oh my have we had a really busy day, we are both thoroughly exhausted! It is Sunday morning, winter is soon coming to an end and spring is about to hit us with a vengeance, well with the adverts on television all about spring cleaning and those diy chores that had to wait while the winter months took hold, not that we have any of those to do in our current state. We got up at around 7.30, well Andy was earlier than me, but these late nights are hitting me hard, I think I got up around 8.00, I immediately grabbed my book and a cup of tea and went and sat on the sofa enjoying my peaceful Sunday morning. Andy was working on the laptop, but after we had breakfast we ... read more

DAY 297 I scampered out of bed relatively early this morning, I am sleeping well, really well, its great being settled in a lovely house but my soul is restless and I suppose that I am missing the freedom that comes with travelling, also I am missing going to bed with the sounds of nature filling our world, but never the less this will not last forever, so while it gives us a chance to regroup and get important stuff sorted then we are thankful. I have a jotter pad next to the computer and write down everything that we need to do, some things get done faster than others but today we were going to try to get a new windscreen fitted in the Patrol, it took a big hit on the Savannah Way ... read more

DAY 295 Another weekend stretches ahead of us, the weeks go by so quickly I cannot believe it is Saturday already. It is a lovely cool morning, though the sun is starting to peep through the lush tropical surrounds. Andy brought me a cup of tea, but I was just lying in bed thinking so I thought I had better get up. What was I thinking about? England, friends, family etc. After a light breakfast of toast and marmite again, such luxury, Andy is keen to pop out to the local Nissan Dealer this morning we need to pick up a couple of bits in the parts department, we lost a couple of fixings somewhere in the lower part of the engine compartment, they probably rattled themselves off while driving on corrugations and as Andy ... read more

DAY 294 I cannot believe how well I have slept again, if I drank Hot Chocolate before bedtime I would think that someone is slipping something into it, when the morning comes it is hard to come round. Andy brought me a cup of tea, but I got out of bed and joined him in the kitchen, where he was sat making a list of things to do, oops a reality check that as we are in one place for the moment we have chores that need doing. No rush but just handy to get some of them off the list so that we can enjoy our time in Cairns. After breakfast and showers we decide to drive down to the Esplanade and find Tourist Information, it is already a hot day and the sun ... read more

DAY 293 It was nice and cool and not quite light, it was our first morning waking up in a house, the first in a long while, well since end of April when we spent a week in Perth, we have both been looking forward to this, even though Andy is keen on spending a night or two out camping while we are here anyway. I am not sure what time it was Andy had already sneaked out of bed, it seems that I usually wake up when Andy gets out of bed in the trailer, yet I never event noticed him stir here. I found Andy sat in the kitchen drinking tea, it was still only about 7.00, I am not really sure what to do with myself, so I make myself a cup of ... read more

DAY 290 The morning was lovely waking up at Crystal Cascades Camp site, a little damp as the surrounding area is mountainous, but we knew the morning sun would soon dry every thing out. Today we were off again, as we have said before we like the Big 4 type camp sites now and again but bush camping is what we love, and where we can really be away from the caravan rat race. I have been going through our blog day by day as today is day 290 and we keep an excel spread sheet of all the camp sites we have stayed at and what we thought of them, how much they cost what facilities you got etc, and within the 290 days there are a couple of discrepancies so the only thing ... read more

The long awaited bungee day! I felt sick all day, and I’m pretty sure it was just butterflies. We got to the place, A.J. Hacket, and I was to go on the minjin swing first, with Matt and Caroline. The minjin swing is where you put some harness on, and you get hooked to this wire, as well as hooked to the two other people. You put your legs out so you look like Superman, and then get hoisted up as high as the bungee tower. When the little light on the ground goes green, one of you has to pull this little cord, and awayyy you go. I screamed the whole way forward, and then we paused for a second, and went all the way backwards. I screamed for that, too. By the second or ... read more
