Remembrance Day was truly a day to remember! The previous Sunday evening we caught the Jet Star red eye special from Perth to Brisbane for Marg’s niece’s wedding. The flight was over 2 hours late leaving, but was as good as you will ever get with only the odd pothole. Four hours flying time as against 14 days when we drove across in the motorhome, both cheaper and quicker! The wedding day was fine and warm, the ceremony and celebrations very family and intimate. We all know that brides scrub up pretty good, and Maree was no exception. Our niece has always had pretty eyes, and today they really sparkled. The ivory silk dress shimmered under the lights and was really quite glamorous. Corey, groom scrubbed up well too and glowed all evening, but I suspect ... read more

Tag 3 Brisbane 2 Highlights: Feuerwerk!!!!!, Botanischer Garten, Lysurus mokusin. Da wir hier in ... read more

Friday 4th March Whilst Sophie was at work, Dad, Chris and I went to a shopping mall and got Sophie's birthday presents. We got her a mobile phone, a candle, a DVD some chocolates and some things for the kitchen that she wanted. We then went home and spent nearly all afternoon wrapping presents! When Sophie got home from work, we got fish and chips for dinner, which was really nice! Saturday 5th March In the morning, Dad and Sophie went out and did the weekly food shop whilst we stayed at the appartment and I carried on with the jigsaw puzzle that I was doing. Then at about lunchtime we went out and picked up Sophie's birthday cake. We then went to Woolworths and bought some more candles for the cake. After that, we drove ... read more

We got up at about 06:40 and had some breakfast. We then spent the morning relaxing and watching the boats go past on the river outside. We saw the resident kookaburra on the balcony opposite, but he didn't want to come and say hello to us. At about 10:30, we packed a picnic lunch for ourselves and headed off towards the city. We walked all the way along Southbank, looking at the flood damage and the markers showing how high the water came to. We also saw lots and lots of water dragons, some of them were HUGE! We saw ibis to and pigeons that have spiky bits on their heads. We took lots of photos of everything. We walked across the Goodwill bridge and witnessed lots of people attempting to raise an old steam ship ... read more

We had a good (but rather turbulent) flight. We are pleased to announce that we both managed to avoid the temptation of killing a small child who kept randomly screaming throughout the 14 hour flight, the parents you ask?! Well, they were fast asleep and ignoring the child.... GRRRR! We landed in Brisbane on time and got straight through passport control and customs with no problems at all. We walked out into the arrivals hall expecting to see Dad and Sophie waiting for us, but in fact they had just got a coffee and were having an argument with the lid as it did not want to go onto the cup! We were driven back to the appartment where we had some food and then got freshened up and changed into some more Australia weather friendly ... read more

So, we left Heathrow an hour late on Wednesday evening. Our first flight was about 12 hours and I managed to sleep most of the way. We landed in Hong Kong an hour late, which left us with 5 hours to wait at Hong Kong airport before our next flight to Brisbane. The next flight went quite quickly and we landed in Brisbane about 10 minutes later than scheduled. We got through passport control quite quickly as the queue was not that long. We then got our bags from the baggage carousel and I got the bike box from oversize baggage. We then went through customs and because we had nothing to declare we were allowed to go through the K9 channel which meant we did not have our bags x-rayed, but were just sniffed by ... read more

This morning we had McDonalds for breakfast as when we tried to go to 'Butter' bistro for brekkie, we found out that it was closed and will not be opening again. When we had finished breakfast, we went to a place called Raby Bay Marina and had a walk around the marina and then sat on a bench and watched some people fishing off the jetty. We saw a fish eagle flying around above the marina, and when we went for a little walk, we found a cool water feature. I drove all of the way back to Brisbane, and when we got back, we had some sandwiches for lunch. We parked at Sophie's work in the city and walked across the bridge to QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) to go and see the Broadway production ... read more

So, what have I been doing since Sunday? Well, lets do this in a sensible order. Monday- Monday morning I spent sunbathing a reading a book. At about 11:50 I started walking along the boardwalk towards the Goodwill Bridge and it took me about half an hour to get to the Botanic Gardens on the other side of the river. I met Dad and John and we went for a walk through the gardens and Dad showed me where the swimming pool is. Then we dropped John back at work and Dad and I walked along the boardwalk past Eagle Street and nearly to the end where Dad turned round and went back to work and I carried on across Story Bridge. It didn't take me long to get back to the unit, and when I ... read more

Today we went out for breakfast at a friend's house. It was absolutely delicious! We spent a bit of time at their house, and then had to leave to get back to the appartment to get ready to play golf. We left the appartment and drove down the highway to the golf club near Robina. On the way we saw a VERY near miss happen. A car almost smashed into the side of another car! It was quite scary, we even had to swerve to miss it! When we got to the golf club, we met up with Frances and John, and had a quick drink. We got our golf carts and headed off out to the first hole to tee off at 12:50. I love golf carts! They are so much fun.... Present list for ... read more
