So I know I haven't posted a blog entry in SO long, but rest assured, I have a lot of them written, and will get them posted on here... Even though you probably won't care to read them anymore cause you won't miss me cause I'll be home! I did want to write one final post from Australia, and although I'd love it to be hugely reflective, I only had a dollar coin left and that only gives me ten minutes, and you all know I went on Facebook before I came to this site. I have had an absolutely incredible journey. I met great people, and got to re-connect with the most amazing ones I could hope for. This trip would have been worth it if all I did was visit my friends Zoe and ... read more

We have finally made it to Australia and are currently waiting in the Sydney airport for our flight to Perth to meet up with Roisin. Our 15 hour flight from LA was surprisingly not that bad, the plane was pretty empty so we had lots of room to get comfortable and sleep. The food on United was not bad (they had really tasty brownies with dinner) either. We sat next to a nice guy from Canberra who was on his way home after spending a week in New York City, we had some good conversations about snow and the difficulty of skating, skiing and snowboarding. It's pretty good that our day in Sydney today is just in the airport the weather here is not too nice today, pouring rain, humid and not too warm. We are ... read more

Help Ian is trying to kill me. LOL The flight from Sydney was very uneventfull with no turbelence to even mention - smooth as silk. LOL Just as they advertise. Filled in the flight by watching movie after movie. It sure does keep an aircraft cabin quiet with on demand viewing. We arrived at our hotel about 4pm (8pm Sydney time) in time to see our first Asia sunset - yes a blood red sun setting between the buildings of Bangkok. It just amazes us as each time we come to Bangkok it looks more and more like a scene from the movie Blade Runner. Street scapes are now filled with flyovers and train lines. Having such an early start to the day - we decided to change some money for Baht - take short walk ... read more

An early start to the day needing to be at the airport by 6am for our 8:55am departure on Thai for Bangkok. Here is the link to our travel plans: http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_6d3.html Grand Indochine This is what we are hoping to do, but being in Asia that is not necessarily what will happen as we have experienced in our past travels.... read more

Hi All, A very despondent not happy Ruffie and MrC here, for the 2nd time we turned up at the airport only to be told by a Norfolk Island Air representative that the plane is cancelled again for today. Seems the weather is beyond us, and as it’s really clouded in they don’t fly….. So neither do we…tonight we get to stay at the Mercure Hotel, just across the way from the airport, so we wait….get annoyed, and wait the weather out! Just across from the hotel we stayed in when we first got here to Sydney. Nothing to do, MrC is watching TV and the cricket, stupid thing is if we had of known we were not flying to the island today we could have actually gone to the Sidney Cricket Ground to see the ... read more

Hi Ya Everyone, Well was it an experience flying today or what! Started off very early this morning when we were taken to the airport by my sister-in-law Alice (Thanks Alice). The flight from Launceston to Melbourne was great, seemed to go very fast, was an uneventful flight. When we booked in for our Melbourne to Sydney flight we were told that we could fly earlier so we chose to do that, which gave us an hour in Melbourne with Marcey (Jabba Jaws - her words not mine!) Heehee… Had a lovely time catching up with her before getting on the plane late….they were fixing/checking one of the engines - seems QANTAS always does a check and maintenance after each flight… I felt safe! PPfftthhh then we got in the air, flying in a 737, we ... read more

Hi All! We both slept pretty well until Charlie nudged me at 6.30 am saying “fix your c-pap machine”…. I said no I think it’s the alarm clock radio on your side….turns out it was a hairdryer next door….and so started our full day in Sydney. Made arrangements with SheLion to meet with her, she was gracious enough to rearrange her day for us as she thought we were here for a week or so and I didn’t know she thought that as we are in Sydney only two days… Thank you Sheline, you are as always a wonderful lady! We had fun riding the train system here in Sydney, its amazing… we only missed one train because it was going back the same way we came into the station and didn’t realise that the “Glenfield” ... read more

Finally landed an hour or so early around 6 in the morning on wednesday. The first flight from toronto was late because of late passengers and deicing the plane. The people I was sitting with were interested in doing their own thing so I never really interacted with anyone on the flight. Luckly there were tv's in the back of the headrests so I was able to watch We own the Night and a couple sports shows to pass the time. Once we landed I had to hurry to my next flight which was on the other end of the airport. It turns out that everyone else that was around me on the Toronto to L.A. flight was also heading to Sydney so we worked together to get to our flight on time. The flight from ... read more

I love surprises!!! Ricky finished work about 4.30pm on Wednesday so I was picking him up and all would be revealed! There is another guy from Ricky’s work on secondment here from Aberdeen and he and his wife arrived that morning, so when I picked Ricky up Ryan and Kellie were there too. We all got in the car and I was instructed to drive to the West. I excitedly asked if we were going to the Airport!! Just before we headed off, Ricky gave me an envelope with my name on it to open. I ripped it open and took out the piece of paper - It read “HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND IN SYDNEY!” I was soooooo excited. We gave Ryan and Kellie our car for the weekend so they came to the Airport with ... read more
