Saw the sun rise as we were arriving into Sydney. Not bad hey? Arrival at Sydney was weird too. They've got MANY runways (big) and we all had to get bug sprayed at the gate. Was worried when I saw small army of hazmat looking people...but I think they were working on the luggage compartments. Sydney lounge is better but they were late to open due to 'illness'. It's big, clean, lots of food and 3 computers but...not many windows and the beer was locked up! Shame! 7/10 On my way now to Melbourne (via heavy...747 if you can believe it!).... read more

22.12.05 After our 3 hour flight we arrived at Sydney airport. We had to wait ages for the shuttle, after about 45 minutes it arrived and dropped us outside the hotel (near Paddington) that we were booked in as of tomorrow. First impressions of the hotel/hostel were not good. Dirty kitchen and rooms. We managed to get a bed for the night in a 4 bed dorm which only had one other guy staying in it, South Korean guy called Jiz. We got this dorm for the price of the 8 bed when it should have been more. We went downstairs to the bar/restaurant as we couldn't be bothered to cook. Andy had $7 steak! Ed: Finally get a chance to write about our adventures so far.... Matt's out on 'introductory' drinks with KPMG so I have the night off.. ha ha Well - the plane trip wasn't too bad -we were seated at around 5 but didn't actually fly out until after 7 thanks to a luggage problem... we had window seats but had an English lady to share the ride for the first leg - she was nice and kept referring to everything as "lovely' and 'wonderful'... anything Matt or I talked about that was her standard response... the British are so polite... There was this old man sitting behind us that kept complaining about the ongoing delays... first he complained to the air hostess, then the head of cabin crew, then the co-pilot... Up at 3:30 am, I'd set the alarm for 4:00 but pre-empted it in my excitement which wasn't so good as I only went to bed at midnight last night! For some STOOPID reason I had arranged to deliver a car that I had sold on Ebay clear across town. What was I thinking! For reasons not necessary here it took two and a half hours longer than it should... and at that stage MINUTES were precious! Anyway up at 03:30, flat out untill 07:44 packing, repacking finishing a few jobs to make our house house-sitter friendly (thanks Ade) before we left. 7:45 in the car and off to the airport.
