Just a quick posting tonight. I spent a lot of today adding our cds to our itunes music library and uploading them to my ipod. Yes, I sprung for one at Best Buy, and it's pretty cool. We borrowed a bunch of cds from Sherry's friend Nicky, including, yes, an EP by the infamous 'The Mr. Move', one of our celeb sightings in the . So, at least we'll have some upbeat, feel-good music to share with locals and other travelers when we circle the globe. I found a web link for those that want to learn more about Reggie C. Piles of packables are now forming in Sherry's mother's living room, signs of our ever-approaching departure date. -Cory ... read more

Greetings to the maiden entry of my travelblog here. The expressed interest of this journal will be to keep in contact with old and new friends along The Way, a journal to record new and interesting thoughts, events and pics, and a tiny space for me to talk to myself (a version of self-psychotherapy) and others. I am currently sitting here in Kansas City Mo. visiting some friends after leaving my house in Los Angeles, California almost three weeks ago. As the title or name on my site indicates (road to no expectations), I have set out on a mini vacation/adventure/pilgrimage to where, I do not know. A few events with some friends (New Orleans next week,) and family (meeting my dad in Chicago to go to Wrigley) dot the landscape over the next month ... read more

You know I'm not one to toot my own horn but if you happened to be watching The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last Friday there's a good chance you may have seen my hat. Yes thats right! I was there in the audience, front row center, I even got to shake his hand...actually it was more of a hand pat but I'm sure if he had more time it would have been a full doublehanded shake. Actually I'm not a huge Leno fan, I'd rather take a nose-bleed seat at a Conan O'brian taping or better yet John Stewart but the tickets were free and it was a new experience. The guests that afternoon- er, "night" were William H. Macy (Fargo, Pleasentville, Magnolia) and some dude from that new documentary Murderball, there was also an ... read more

As a brief update I am now heading over to Washington DC. I will spend several nights here and and then head over to Pennsylvania. The trip over here took me through the Arizona. Strictly speaking this information has been uploaded on my first night in WDC. I will send more updates as they are planned.... read more

For the past few days the rain has not stopped. at one point today it hailed for about 2 minutes complimented with thunder and lightning. This weather has made getting to and from the gym a much wetter proposition. running from building to building hunched over all your gear while skipping and dodging puddles makes one look more like a soldier from a world war two movie than some one just trying to get to practice and stay dry. The weather has also had an effect on our night life as its much harder for the guys to go out. this lead to one of the biggest and most competitive games of cranium i have ever played. it started at around 9 and did not end untill well after 11 and was stopped by security comming ... read more

So many beautiful photos! I look at the beautiful photos here on this Travelblog and really enjoy them. I love beautiful scenery and love to watch people doing exciting things. But life can change so fast as it sometimes has for me. Accidents happen quicker than we can prepare for them. However ~ some things we can prepare for. The Heavenly Journey will be the last trip any of us takes. So it is important to be ready for that. None of us has the promise of tomorrow. I have written many songs and poems. Some of them I have done in calligraphy. I tried to upload them. But I guess the jpegs aren't big enough to be allowed. Sorry about that I would like to have shared some here. Blessings to all of you! ... read more

We were smart enough to NOT eat breakfast at the Hualapai and hit the road early for the Grand Canyon. We stayed at the Maswik Lodge with no air conditioning, which is as much "roughing it" as any of us were willing to endure. We hiked along the rim for about 2 miles. Nancy and Julie are not enjoying the lack of fences along the rim. We had dinner at El Tovar which was fabulous and enjoyed the sunset. We got a glimpse of more stars than we've ever seen before on the walk back to the lodge.... read more

far out! hve just been to Niagra falls and walked into Canada on my day off - so cool! had an amazing day checking out the falls and being a good old tourist! If you ever get the chance to go to Niagra, then do it, cos its honestly worth it. People here at camp have said that its really boring and a waste of time, but it soooo isnt! the sheer height and power of the falls and water is.....i dont know! its just amazing! you really have to experience it for yourselves to fully understand. The water that flows over the falls come from the great lakes, and travel out into the atlanta ocean - that in itself is cool! Did the Maid of the Mist boat ride (did some of yous get my ... read more

Three more sleeps… Not that we are getting bored or anything, just a little road weary perhaps. We drove a long way today, through South Dakota. We started early this morning in Wyoming, and have ended our day in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which is almost on the border with Minnesota. Today’s fun excursions included a drive south of the I-90 through Deadwood Gulch, to see Crazy Horse, a similar carving project to Rushmore. The thing that makes Crazy Horse so unique… they’ve been working on it for 55 years and it is still not done, and doesn’t even look close to done! To be fair, the size and magnitude of Crazy Horse is at least five times the size of Rushmore. We’re hoping it might be completed in our lifetime! Mount Rushmore was “as advertised”, ... read more

I am leaving LA today and while I didn’t get to see any of Hollywood or Beverly Hills, I figure that these places are just glitzy shopping malls for people with more money and time than me. The tourist stretches of the movie industry are a big attraction for some, but I will have to come back another time to find out why. Perhaps if I saw Yodo walking along the road, I too would want jump and scream. Anyway, wherever I went saw small groups of tourists flocking to watch some b grade camera crew just for a glimpse of someone they might think is famous. My only real contact with this world was a momentary glimpse of the Hollywood sign. I saw it down a little way from city hall. For anyone who has ... read more
