For first full day in LA I had booked to go to San Diego Zoo. San Diego is about 2.5 hours down the south coast of California. On the trip I was joined by a noisy bunch of Aussies, as they are called here and some other travellers from Canada, Italy and America). So after a brief hello, I quickly sided with the Canadians on board and enjoyed travelling through the day with Trevor and Gordon. The drive down had a few highlights for the group and some were just special for the driver. The first one the driver wanted to mention was the monument for Dolly Parton’s breasts. Well it was actually a power station, but anyway the driver wanted to infer something about the shape of the two plants. I thought the fuel source ... read more

Yogi and Boo Boo's big adventure...... Jen and I got ourselves ready for our trip to Yosemite national park on Monday the 18th July, both pretty nervous and not sure what to expect, we knew it would be a whole bunch of people sharing one bus for 4 days without showers but we didn't know how many or how it would all work out at all. We prepared ourselves by buying a couple of bottles of wine and some small bottles of whiskey and brandy, so at least we'd get through thte first night if nothing else! We filled ourselves up on the free food at the hostel again - really tasty and so much of it, I can't praise this hostel enough. So we ate up and then a few people gathered in the foyer ... read more

Coming to the end of my two weeks with my second group of campers. Only one group left to go and then I have a week of family camp! Not exactly sure what that it is but sounds intriguing. Still having a fab time and loving being outdoors. Getting used to driving on the other side of the road and driving an automatic. Looking forward to having Saturday off. We are planning a big BBQ. Went and played mini golf or crazy golf as we call is last session break and also saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which I would recommend. Went on a mountain hike today. Beautiful scenery and a gorgeous day. We have had a few thunderstorms lately and had to evacuate from the yurts for a few hours the other night. A ... read more

Since today (sunday) is our only day off this week the team got together and had a little fun last night. If anyone has spent any time around mens volleyball players they probably know that we like to have fun and we can be a little strange and are definetly dorky at times. having said that, nothing is more fun than a night of dress up so thats what we did. the only rules were you had to have a partner and each of you had to dress up with some sort of theme. Enjoy!!... read more

Kathy's nephew,Forrest ,told us about a place up in the mountains where he hunts. We have spent the last two weeks enjoying the area. We went off route 34 and took a small dirt Arapaho National Forest road, 139, and about two miles back we found a campsite near Keyser Creek. It was a perfect outdoor spot with the rushing waters bubbling over rocks to keep a constant music playing. Will fixed the awning that had blown off in a sudden wind burst in NM; it now rolls in and out like new with the instulation of the $40 piece we got from Fimma, the awning company. The man Will talked to descibed exactly how to put it in and it worked great. Will also fixed the locks on the cargo doors with some aluminum we ... read more

SUnday was a liesurly day in Bremerton. When Bryan got home from work in the morning we walked to a lovely cafe and had breakfast on the patio. The weather was perfect and the food was yummy. We then read each other's tarot and played 90's Trivial Pursuit (I kicked his butt but I guess it isn't fair since he was 10 in 1990 and I was graduating high school!). When Bryan took a nap I took the opportunity to wander around Bremerton and walked over a bridge and played with my new digital camera. I am still not taking very good pics but getting better. After nap time we went out for dinner and chatted about everything before he had to go to work and I got on the ferry to Seattle. Ian and his ... read more

We were up early and on our way from Victoria to Snoqualmie, Washington. This necessitated a two hour ferry ride between Sidney to Anacortes, Washington. The ferry ride was really gorgeous as it weaved between many large islands between Vancouver Island and the US. The drive from Anacortes towards Seattle was smooth but the highway traffic was thick. We didn't get into any mountain driving until we bypassed Seattle. The trip was actually one of our shorter drives. Snoqualmie is one of the small towns in upper Washington State that was home to the cult classic Twin Peaks. Both Eric and I wanted to see the place where the tv series was filmed. The Salish Lodge (The Great Northern on tv) has been turned into a luxury spa. We really wished we had a couple of ... read more

Hello again, As we near the end of our stay in Manhattan my access to internet may be limited so it's possible this will be my last entry until we get home. Our day yesterday was a full one and with the aid of ibuprofin and acetaminophen we made it through ok. Our meeting with Henry and Lynn and subsequent tour of Governor's Island was delightful. I discovered another part of this blog called galleries, so I put some of the pictures from this tour on it. We got back to Manhattan around 12:30 and got some lunch, then some italian ices, and said our goodbyes to our fellow Napkins. We did a little wandering around the tip of Manhattan seeing Fraunce's Tavern, Whitehall St, the South St Seaport, Fulton Market (I guess they took the ... read more

We camped at Silver Springs last night. The girls and I woke up at 7am and put Dot out and went to the bathroom. Then we went for a walk through the center of the campground where a crystal clear creek flows out of the ground. The girls bellied down to drunk out of the creek. the trees there were bigger than the one in our camp. Maybe 300 years or more in age. We are heading to Seattle to drop Jake off. We stopped in Auburn and the girls got to play at a nice water park while we made lunch. The traffic in Seattle was absolutely awful and I was glad to get out. Mom and I drove out to Mt. Baker Snoqualmie N.F. and all the campgrounds were full. So we found a ... read more
