Hello Everyone Sorry it has taken so long to send out another update, but here it is, and after a few comments, I will make it shorter than the last..ok not really. When I last wrote we had arrived in San Diego to hang with our friends Forest and Erin. We had a great time and did some Geocaching in Balboa Park and visited the San Diego Art Museum. On Wednesday morning (September 21) we headed over to the Phoenix/Tempe area to meet up with our friends Michael and Zaida. In AZ we did a lot of hanging out with our friends, swimming, eating, went to a Diamond Backs baseball game where they renamed the stadium, and did a lot of relaxing. We visited a dueling piano bar name the Big Bang and had a great ... read more

I see orange, wax skipping white sheets, but smearing autumn over an open season. I see orange, and it is calm, but robust, rambunctious with a knife. Orange, the color, the crayon, my little pink fingers drawing pompous lines, connecting the mind’s eye. And then eyes, the orange lids like peelings from the skin. They are triangles, upside down like the madman’s costume, its fangs, the mouth wide, swallowing a melon of flame. I see orange as I press hard. Chunks of wax fall off in my excitement. My friends giggle around me. Grabbing for black, I tear down the paper wrapping, greased like last night’s pizza box, and tilt the stick at an angle to shade the sockets, to darken the depths of the throat. The color is sharp, more chunks, and then soft as ... read more

Vinny, Tony, and I are taking a trip to Europe beginning 10/04/05. We fly into Amsterdam Friday morning 10/07 and plan to stay there for the weekend. After that we will be headed to Germany, Italy, Greece (hopefully), Spain, France and then back to Amsterdam to fly back. That is the rough plan. Actually that is the only plan. We will see. Wish us luck. Oh yeah, and Tony has a mustache. Wait for pictures...... read more

Some socializing in the 206 with friends of Julia, my parents, and my brother, Hall. Julia and I left Chicago in mid-AUG to come to Seattle to stage our world travels. While in the Northwest, we chose to lay low and relax in the Eastside most of the time. We stayed with my parents - privileged with the great late summer climate of the Seattle area. But, we also had to come to the city to hang with friends and attend some different events of interest. We watched the Chicago White Sox play the M's, while on their steady descent out of first place in the AL. We also checked out Common @ Bumbershoot - Seattle's summer music festival during Labor Day. Finally, Julia got to meet and greet one of her best friends from the ... read more

Well, my friends I am glad you found us. THE PLAN You know we have to have a plan but it is going to be a fluid one because of gas prices, and what our mood will be when we do finally hit the road. But we do have to have a plan, you do have to make a list, and you do have to have an idea. We found our motorhome last summer, sitting forlornly in a used car lot, clean and shiny and waiting for someone to take her and love her. The Car Guys on NPR said that women have a habit of naming their cars. I have never done so, but this little beauty does need a name and one will come to us one day. She will reveal it to us ... read more

Here we are the end of week three and still in Bellingham. The good news is that the camera will be arriving tomorrow and we will be getting the hell out of dodge. It has been nice in Bellingham but we are ready to move on. We spent the first 5 nights in a great campground at the Larabee State Park. It was right by the beach, had rv hook ups and showers. Yep, we showered. 2 showers in 2 weeks. Not too bad :) Since the campground was pre-reserved for the weekend we had to leave and thats how we ended up in the Wal-Mart parking lot. They allow you to stay there overnight for free which is nice. The first couple of days were funny - were in the Wal-Mart parking lot. But now, ... read more

Taking everyone's advice, I went out to Seattle since that's supposedly where I'm meant to be. I did my standard morning runs to explore the area and tried the food (I had my first crumpet!) and the beer . . . all of which exceeded my expectations. Seattle was unusually sunny (note glare in the pictures), but that doesn't make it warm. For a girl who's lived in the South all of my life, it's odd to want a sweatshirt in August. I hit up one of Tom Douglas' restaurants (the one at 5th and Lenora), Wild Ginger, Zoe's, Pike Place Market, and Top Pot doughnuts . . . the Experience Music Project, the Art Walk, Volunteer Park, the Arboreteum, the Boeing assembly line for 747s, and the majestic Mt. Rainier. While Seattle is certainly walkable, ... read more

Well, its all falling into place, after spending the afternoon watching a volcano grow I am now in a truck stop rest station cooking supper & Graeme is playing his newly acquired guitar. The last volcano I walked / crawled up (Ecuador) I remember thinking “once is probably enough” but this was American style and all very civilised. Luckily the "James" disaster affect did not occur and the volcanos current state is still "on alert" but not very active. They have closed the close up treking trails though, So a quick update on our travels. First of all don’t think its all a holiday here, in fact there doesn’t yet appear to be a spare moment in the day. See pictures of me at work. On the way to the coast we stopped for our last ... read more
