I found myself staring at nothing but a light blue sky while laying on a floating boat ramp on Lake Crescent, listening to Ike hit the water with a stick. That was it. Nothing to contemplate. No questions about life and existence. Just that moment. That was at the end of the day that started at 3am with the intention to hike for many miles… Breakfast was at Port Angeles after attempting to eat at two different small diners that were just too weird for us to stay at. It was also after going through an abandoned house on the side of Highway 101. We started the hike after going through two more abandoned houses that were built identically right next to each other. Lunch was at the campsite of the Hot Springs (not close to ... read more

After the conference I got to hang out with my friend of ten years, JJ, in her way hip downtown studio in Seattle. Right across from what she tells me is the "CBGB of Seattle" and some other cool stuff. We have been all over the world hanging out, which includes four months in Ethiopia, a few days in London. Then San Diego, Seattle, DC (where we were housemates for a year), New York, and I am probably missing something else. All to just be together! It was fun to see her and she went to part of the conference too, so it was good to process some of that together. Her being here would be a bonus in moving to the area. Plus, cool new car JJ. I have to get one of those Honda ... read more

I feel overwhelmed with this trip. I needed the renewal so much and its so amazing how much better its been than anything I could have anticipated. The church I spent the week at definately has been experiencing revival in a deep sense. I guess the movement is happening with the young people, because they were some of the happiest and free-est group ever! I made a lot of new friends and saw a lot of old ones. People from around the world were at this conference for this church in the middle of nowhere and letting go of burdens that have followed them their whole life. It was a privelege to be a part of. If I were to choose a place to go after seminary right now I think it would be Tacoma to ... read more

I would buy a ticket for everyone I know to come to this conference. It is totally amazing. I am enjoying it twice as much as Kansas City if that is possible. I can't believe how free and happy the people are here, and I feel a level of revelation here beyond what I could have possible hoped for. Surely this trip must have been about coming to this conference. Every step along the way so far though has been exactly what it should be. In Helena I learned that it was time to let go of of some things, and this friendships and ....I don't know, revelation...freedom....I don't know the words for it here are right on time. I will post pictures tomorrow of the conference. I love it here and the New Song church ... read more

Hi everyone. I have finally arrived all the way to the west coast. The drive out was wellworth it. Definately this part of the country must be the most beautiful. I still haven't been able to connect to my computer to upload pictures but hope I will find a way soon. I got to the conference at the Clover Creek church yesterday. Last year this was the best week of the year. It seems that this year it is shaping up to be pretty close as well. I love this church and the people who go here, I always seem to make good friends there. I almost moved here in winter this time, but it didn't work out. Who knows what the future holds? And again I am seeing old friends at this conference that I ... read more

Getting through the border from BC to Washington was very tough! Just because I had been to the UAE more than 6 months before he got all shitty with me and started asking me 101 questions. Anyway, got through...eventually and that was that. The bus ride was not great, there was some lady on it who stank of ciggies and peed herself. Arriving in Seattle, we headed to our hotel in our hire car, the hotel was in the university district, and it was a bargain, great big room, clean, new, just fabulous. Did some shopping and then went and explored Pike Market, we saw those famous guys throwing the big tunas around, and we pooped into the original Starbucks for a quick fix. We had dinner at Dalia's which was alright, great decor. Going to ... read more

The rest of our time in San Francisco was a ball- lots of cable car and tram rides, lovely day in Carmel and Monterey before crossing the Golden Gate and Richmond bridges and a fast trip via Sacremento to San Andreas (which is not where the famous fault line lies) on the H49. This was the area where gold was first discoveres in 1849 and reminded us all of our own gold field areas. Ken our host is a Head of Department in Agriculture and runs a commercial catering business whilst Linda is Auditor /General Manager of the local county. They were great hosts and we had a fabulous time with them - it reminded us of a certain Putney 2 party with John and Noel in the kitchen as they whipped up some fabulous meals. ... read more

Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.____Mark Twain LINKS Name TRAVEL TIPS June 17, 2005, Friday. Today we get on the ferry. Our instructions were to get to the dock early and get in line with our vehicle. The RV will be in the lower level of the ferryboat. Once the vehicle is parked there, we will not be permitted to return to it, except for three designated times a day, as announced. It has something to do with insurance and /or dog walking!?? Maybe you can figure it out? Bellingham is a neat little town and we did some walking before departure time. Lots of little shops, one purchase was a painting of a bicycle. It was simple, almost primitive, but it just caught my eye. The security at the ferry site was ... read more
