Now that I have my footing at work and am getting adjusted to the 8-5 work day (it really wore me out the first week!) I have really started getting out there and enjoying what the city has to offer. Here are some highlights from this week: Columbus Library & Old Deaf School Park On Wednesday, I headed down to check out the main branch of the Columbus Library. It was one of the neatest "working" libraries I have ever seen. I call it working, because it is there to meet the needs of the people who use it, not to be a museum or a show piece like some libraries can be. It was well laid out and full of people! Probably because it was 90 degrees outside, but what does it matter. As long ... read more

So I have now been working for a week and a half and haven't written about any of it. Fail. So here it is: I started work on June 15 at 8:00am at our Reynoldsburg campus. Limited Brands has corporate offices in Columbus and Reynoldsburg, design studios and some corporate stuff in New York City, and call centers for Victoria's Secret Direct in Kettering, OH and some place in New Mexico. There were 27 of us "on-boarding" these two days- most people were from Ohio State or Miami and nearly all had some sort of tie to Columbus. We started out having breakfast with our hiring managers. My manager is a nice guy who has been with Limited about 10 years. After breakfast we did some paperwork- W4s and stuff like that. Then we had diversity ... read more

This past weekend the fam was up for a number of reasons, there were festivals going on, Sarah was getting dropped off at the airport to go to Las Vegas, it was Father's Day, but most importantly, they were there to see me. We started the morning at the Worthington Art Festival. We were there last year and all the stuff was almost identical. So it was ok, but not great. Highlight: Mom feeding her kettle corn addiction. We parted ways for a couple of hours in the heat of the afternoon (which lasted well into the evening...) I met them at their hotel in Gahanna at about 3:00. While waiting for the elevator to go to the Creekside Jazz & Blues Festival we met some guys who were playing later that afternoon. They were from ... read more

On Saturday morning, I decided it was high time to get my hands on some groceries. So I started out at the Clintonville Farmer's Market- about 2.5 miles north of where I live. I took my bike with my new grocery baskets. I bought some zucchini and yellow squash, gouda cheese, a big artisan bread, and a buckeye scone (breakfast). After transporting that back to my apartment, I headed for the grocery store to get the rest of what I need. I hit Aldi's and Giant Eagle and should be pretty well set. After lunch and a quick nap, I headed out again on my bike. This time I rode up the Olentangy Trail (called a myriad of different things- it's a bike trail that runs north and south through Columbus) to Ohio State's Wetland Research ... read more

Hey everyone, as you may or may not know I am in Columbus for the summer with an internship at Limited Brands. I figured I would rev my blog back up to tell you about all that is going on and the things I see and do. I moved in on Friday and met my roommate Gavin. He seems like a pretty nice guy, but I think he went home for the weekend (and didn't tell me) so I haven't seen him since Friday. After getting my stuff arranged I went to Noodles & Co. for dinner. It was a cool place, with noodle dishes from all over the world for cheap! After dinner I made a trip to Target to pick up a few things I needed for the apartment. I ended the evening walking ... read more

Hi everyone, So I thought it would be easiest if I set up a blog so you guys can read about what I'm doing and where I'm going in Europe. I was planning on set the blog up once I got there, but here I am at home setting it up(when I'm supposed to be flying to Dussledorf) ... I thought we were lucky when our flight from Columbus to Chicago was only delayed 20 minutes. We were all boarded and ready to go when there was a loud crunching noise from the front of the plane. Apparently the jetway got a mind of its own and moved when it was still attached to the plane. This cause the plane's door to get messed up, so we all had to get off the plane and see ... read more

Hello, This will be my last blog on this trip and I wish to thank so many people for reading it and sending comments and messages. Our second day in Dubai, we wandered over to the beach which was quite beautiful, but much too hot to enjoy. On the way through the hotel, they were offering a class on vegetable sculpture, but I had no time to go to it. At the beach, we hung out under a cabana and looked at the view while getting hotter and hotter. July & August are their hottest months which was good in some ways because there were not so many tourists. From 4:00 until 10:00pm, we were scheduled to go on a desert "Safari" and we hadn't a clue what it entailed, but the butlers highly recommended the ... read more
