Hello everyone, just a quick update. Had a good weekend with Neil and family again before coming back to the city. Took a night-tour bus downtown and across to Brooklyn on Friday. Got some good photos of the New York skyline from across the Brooklyn Bridge. Got the train up to Beacon, Orange County on Saturday to stay with Neil and family again. Had a good day then went out with Ryan at night to his friends house to hang-out. It was a good laugh, played pool and some mad drinking games! Ended up at McDonalds about 4am! Was a bit rough on Sunday but we got up when John, who works for Orange County Choppers came round to take us to the Shop. Seen all the bikes they are working on and they have a ... read more

Hi all well this is the last leg of the journey and we are feeling a bit weary, but must admit it was so good to get into a nice hotel with clean bedding and hot water. Flight was great to new york there was only about 100 people on plane so we could all have a row each if we wanted and still there were rows of seats left, wish all flights were like this. Arrived at JFK and it was freezing not good. also we had travelled world with backpacks but it was only the americans that wanted to break them open with force and ruin bags, says it all really. slept for at least 12 hours the first night because we had not slept for about a week. but woke up fresh for ... read more

Hello folks, back in the newsagents again. Having a relaxing day today as my feet are killing me from all the walking yesterday. I set off for The Village Tavern in Greenwich Village yesterday to see the Rangers v Osasuna game, took me about 2hours and think I walked across half the city! Took a bus down to 1st street but found I was in the East side of town, ended up walking across to the west side and into the deserted Village Tavern which had basketball on the tele. The woman behind the bar pointed me in the direction of another bar called Fiddlesticks. Got there but the only game they had on was the Spurs game. Few supporters in there so watched the football and had a drink and a game of pool with ... read more

The best way to open our Travel Blog I think is with a bit of "Robert Service " poetry. "The Land Beyond" Have ever you heard of the Land Beyond, That dreams at the gates of day? Alluring it lies at the skirts of the skies, And ever so far away; Alluring it calls: O ye the yoke that galls, And ye of the trail overfond, With saddle and pack, by paddle and track, Let's go to the Land of Beyond! Have ever you stood where the silences brood, And vast the horizons begin, At the dawn of the day to behold far away, The goal you would strive for and win? Yet ah! in the night when you gain to the height, With the vast pool of heaven star-spawned, Afar and agleam, like a ... read more

Just a quick note on New York .... I went to eat the dirtiest hot dog and I did, twice, in one day. And yes I woke up the next morning and I felt the block in my stomach and thankfully my headache ... aka. hangover... hide the real dirtyness of the thing, but man it was good while it lasted. New York was great fun. I got to spend some quality time with family. I stayed with my dear beautiful cousin Rachel Pringle and went out with her and Gavin for a night out on the town, really quite fun jumping into limos and wearing make up and brushing my hair and dancing with strange men with body guards and meeting the NY cops!! The police where by far the coolest ... please refer to ... read more

Hey people, well this is the first chance i've had to get on a computer for a wee while. I am in the back of a newsagents on 3rd Avenue. Just been for breakfast in 'Sarges' diner (pancakes with butter and syrup... mmm). The waitress in there was telling me to buy a megamillions ticket for the lottery tonight so thats why im here... $335million jackpot! No more hostels for the rest of the trip if I win that. Anyway had a good flight over, the seat beside me was empty so had a bit of extra room. Was about 8hrs but we were given a couple of meals and there were tv's in the back of the seats to watch a film. Customs took ages to get through though, took finger prints and a photo ... read more

I don't feel nervous. I don't have goosebumps. I'm actually feeling kind of mellow. In fact I've never felt so calm. I do feel that I have way too much to carry in one backpack, but I am not going to be one of those smelly rustic backpackers. I've smelled enough to know, I WILL have enough clean underwear. I told my mom I was leaving last week. "Where are you going ?" "Mexico" "For what? "Rehab." She flipped out. "What the hell do you mean rehab? Are you on drugs? " "No ma, I was just kiddin'" Well, sort of. It's kind of a mental rehabilitation sort of thing. After I quit my extremely stressful job in October, I knew I was due for a long unofficial sabatical. I just didn't feel quite right. After ... read more

Wow, what a weekend! This was not just any trip to New York, but THE trip to New York. Before getting to this crazy city, I was quite nervous....I mean what should you expect when you are going to visit the bussiest city in the world? Especially as we are two young travellers on our own, obviously looking like rich-surrey boy-tourists. My thoughts of New York was that people didnt care about anyone but themselves, it would be so busy you couldn't do anything, and that i was going to get mugged...probably on the subway. Why was I thinking any of this? I really don't know. Its probably down to TV and films, but kids, forget it, New York is flipping fantastic. After a pretty stressfull day of trying to actually get to New York, we ... read more

Arrived early afternoon, very comfortable Airbus330 with 'superior' legroom (at extra cost of course!). Our hotel, on Broadway, just up from Times Square very central! Settled by 5pm but our body clock says midnight! And we were up at 5am so feeling sleepy, esp. after a few anxious days prior to lift off fretting about all the detail of a world trip. In the event should not have fretted, all going smooth! Nevertheless by 7pm ready for dinner (supper or is it breakfast?) Its always useful to get your bearings as soon as possible and to adjust to the new time on day one (esp, if going west!). So, off to eat. New York had snow a few days ago, some still on the 'sidewalks' but while cold not bitter! Super meal, prices attractive since ... read more
