The countdown has begun. Just four days now and we will head back to India. It saddens me to say that this is probably the last blog of this trip. The last three months have been a smorgasbord of experiences. A flurry of colours. A veritable feast of the senses. A few great places, many memorable experiences and wonderful people. Now that the three months are over, it seems difficult to recapture those million moments in a dialog box. We came when there was still colour in the trees, we watched the leaves dislodge slowly till they stood bare. And now when we are leaving, they rewarded us with a sheet of white. Just when we had given up, we finally experienced the first measurable snowfall of the season. A quarter inch of pleasure. In today’s ... read more

Ah...it was great to be back where a girl can get herself a cupcake and go line dancing even if it isn't the popular thing to do. Many thanks to the good people at Camp Erin & Amelia for their endless hospitality. When my flight landed at JFK, I decided to embrace the Brooklynite guts in me and get loud. So I headed to the taxi station and announced, "I'm going to Park Slope. Does anyone want to share a cab?" Now this might not sound like much of an effort, but in the 3 years I lived in Brooklyn I never once asked anyone to share a cab. The Kansan in me always emerged as super-shy Amber who doesn't like to butt into other people's business and prevented me from saving the big bucks. Luckily, ... read more

Hi The last time we spoke we were just about to have dinner after our first full day in NY. We went to a place called Mama Mexico which was amazing, they even made fresh guacamole right at our table and it was so good!! On Wednesday we headed to south Manhattan to see Ground Zero, and then we walked the Brooklyn Bridge which was great but very cold!! After that we headed into Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho and Greenwhich Village to have a look around. We had been told of a great pizza place called john's in Greenwhich Village but we couldn't find it anywhere and for such a famous place no one seemed to know where it was! So after an hours goose chase we gave up and ate in a local diner called ... read more

So, we get on our plane ready for take off, as per usual we're sat by the wing, and then as the pilot started testing the engine the wing right outside our window started smoking!!! This was apparently because the 2nd engine wouldn't start and therefore led to a 3 hour delay while they got a new one fitted and all this time we're sat on the plane watching the fire engines standing by!!! So after an anxious 8 hour flight (11 hours on the plane in total), we finally landed and set off to our hostel/hotel. The hotel is basic but ok, apart from the noisiest radiator ever!!! but what can you expect for $40 a night!! Today we went for breakfast at City Diner, a proper american diner 5 mins walk from here. After ... read more

BIG APPLE, PHILLY and TORONTO ONCE AGAIN! Ok, so I havent updated this for 2 weeks, so this might be a big post - but at the moment they are all big posts! I 've had a crazy couple of weeks to kick off 2007! Photos of everything up to date are now up (http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r141/michty6/) and photos of this blogs events will follow soon... So after Tom and Meags dropped me off in Toronto (after giving me some chocolate and a 'Canada' t-shirt as an early birthday present - thanks once again :) I planned on spending 'a few' nights catching up with everyone there - in the end I stayed a bit longer than that and found it very hard to leave! I didnt really do any sights in TO this time round, mainly just ... read more

WOW! O joy. Kom til New York i gaar sein ettermiddag, og kasta fraa oss tinga vaare for aa gaa ut og ete litt. Endte opp paa 89th street, paa ein ultraamerikansk burgersjappe som heite TEXAS. Hahah. Andreas trykte i seg verdas stoerste BIFFburger, og eg aat noko saa herleg motseiande som "Chicken Vegetable". Gjekk nedover Broadway og berre saag oss rundt i lukkerus heilt til me vart saa slitne at me ramla inn paa "Big Nick's" for aa drikke pils. Paa vegen fann me ogsaa ein ... read more

So I flew from Miami up to New York City, especially for a reunion of my college fraternity brothers, (Penn State, Phi Sigma Delta). It was unbelievable to be in the presence of some guys I haven't seen for years and years. I also took lots of photos, of course, so I hope you enjoy them.... read more
