I have to say that so far this is the best burger I have had at a restaurant in New York. I can assure you I have had better made at home for me. But this one is the greatest if you are out and about.... read more

Have been rather a long time adding this blog. Started visiting relations in the wst. Quite cold there. Had good time with them seeing daily life and doing some special things together. Spent four days there then took an internal flight to New York where I met up with Leigh who arrived the day before. We visited a sculpture park on the site of the old agricultural fair ground in New Jersey on the Wednesday. We did a tour of Ground Zero which was very poignant and doubly sad all the controversy about what to put there. We spent time with the Zieloney family; a dinner with Jay and Marilyn at a very nice fish restaurant, gallery visits with Marilyn the next day to see Annie Liebovitz ,Dylan and MOMA where you are allowed to take ... read more

I recieved a comment from someone who is traveling to Ghana in January. Here are some tips and places to go; as good as I can come up with right now. January - February is supposed to be there very dry season, so expect it to be VERY HOT and dry for that matter. The places that I visited we were on a very tight budget to, but its very easy to get around without a problem, In my journal that I currently don't have with me I have the actual places we stayed in, for each place we went to. Keep in touch I'll can get them for you. I highly reccommend a digital camera because you can just snap away, I brought a 70's completely manual 35mm Olympus with me and only shot 3 ... read more

Today Sunday October 22, 2006, We have arrived in Catskill NY, @ the Hop-O-Nose Marina, after two days of traveling through the Champlain Canal lock system. The first night after departing Shelburne Shipyard (Lake Champlain) we docked for the night in Whitehall NY @ lock 12. Saturday we motored through, lock after lock, to Mechanicville NY, which is just after lock 3 where we spent Saturday night. Today we are now finished with all the locks and are now on the Hudson River back at sea level. This will be our first night returning to a tidal influence. Plans tomorrow are to start with the re-masting and after which we will put everything back together!! Leave us your comments in the comment section, we would love to hear from you.. Since the fall colours are nearing their peak, it has inspired the photographer in me. And so I'd like to share some of the beautiful colours with you. People from NYC may venture up to the Hudson Valley for the foliage, just as people from Montreal venture into the Laurentians. And as I've said in the past, sometimes it takes a trip away from home to realize the beauty of home. I realized that with Montreal, after my first mini-Eurotrip in 2002. I realized it with Goshen when trying to figure out how to play tourguide, first to a Swiss friend, then to an Aussie friend. And the O.C. is certainly beautiful in autumn. I realize that now. ... read more

RPI This blog is for the ones who attended RPI back then... a long long time ago... We stopped in Troy for a day to revisit familiar places and restock on overpriced school gear. Troy actually has a bit more life to it compared to 5 years ago. The addition of a beautiful new building and the construction of another helps. I won't say it is the liveliest place but it is better. For those who were there, look at the pictures and remember the good old times ... read more

Isn't everything they say..... According to Huey Lewis, but what the heck would he know. He reckons the Heart of Rock and Roll is in Cleveland. Cleveland? Nah. We rolled into New York by way of Baltimore, Philly and New Jersey and boy does the railway show you the uglier side of cities. Ick. Penn Station, at 5pm on a Monday, is a practical demonstration of what Pete Curry calls New Yorker's unique sense of personal space and boy is it hot. There's something about descending into the ground and the temperature going up that is mildly unsettling. Subways here are hot. Really hot. But, they run quickly and frequently, and it wasn't long before we heaved our bags to 330 W 95th Street to the Continental Hostel. It's a partially converted apartment building and ... read more
